The Lonely Planet lists this pub as the one with the nicest food in town. If that's indeed the case, then this is pretty sad for Fishguard. While the pub provides a really nice atmosphere, the service is slow and the food is worse than what you get in the average British pub. Half an hour after we've ordered our food, we asked how much longer it will take, and they said that they'd overlooked our order, and that they'll make sure that our meals are prepared immediately. Another half our later, when we already considered to leave and asking them to give us our money back, the food arrived. The chips were soggy, the rice wasn't freshly cooked, and the "prawns" in the prawn curry turned out to be tiny shrimps.
I'd recommend to go there and have a pint (because the pub is one of the main sights of the town), but get your food somewhere else. read more
