She taught us for about... 5-8 mins in total? and then the rest of the hours we were able to design our own cakes or cupcakes. She taught us how to make flowers 2 different ways and how to use fondant moulds and change the colors of the fondant. They provided us with the tools and we were able to decorate on our own. I still feel like i learned nothing from this class. It was more just recreational fun. There was a woman that ran late and they ran out of spots for her to sit so she had to sit behind the counter. She was not happy as these seats were pre-booked ahead of time. The moulds were on the side of the room on the window sill. Everyone had to bend down and wait for another person one by one to grab them and had to go around the tables to ask for the spray bottles, food coloring and moulds. It was a fun experience for a one time thing to do. You won't learn anything you don't already know. If you want a few hours to feel like you're doing an arts and crafts kind of thing... then this is for you. I did not end up eating the cakes or the cupcakes, they tasted really bland. Really all just for looks. Will not be returning.

My buddy and I signed up for the Fondant Fun workshop (a Wilton course) which is a great intro to all things fondant. It's taught by Nimali Senaratne who shows you how to bloom flowers and coax animals out of something that resembles play-doh. We were given a 6-inch cake that was already iced, a lot of equipment, and then we went at it! She gave us a basic step by step and helpful tips & tricks as we worked. I had such an amazing time bringing out my creative side. I'd recommend their classes to anyone starting out or someone who simply doesn't have the confidence when it comes to baking. They also take cake orders and sell Wilton products if you're looking to buy.

Unlike their Korean barbeque sets, lunch takes longer to arrive as the kettle pot rice is made to order. It's worth the wait to allow the purple rice to develop a bit of crust on the bottom and to allow the beans, chestnut, pumpkin, jujube and chickpeas to soften and seep into the rice. Given how long it takes for make the starch, I'm surprised the pork bone soup ($21.99) doesn't arrive bubbling... this stone bowl is for show only. It also lacks flavour and needed to be stewed longer as the bones were difficult to tear and grizzly to eat. As kamjatang go, this is mediocre at best. The spicy soft tofu stew ($21.99) was better, even the "medium" spicy level came out flavourful without being overpowering. And while it wasn't bubbling, this was hotter and more comforting feeling. It's just a bit stingy on the protein with few slices of beef but adequate amounts of tofu and vegetables. Each arrives with an array of banchan including crispy kimchi cucumber, vegetable laced japchae, a flavourful stewed eggplant, a hefty portion of rolled egg omelette, a scoop of overly sweet potato salad, savoury gelatin, and a slightly sweet creamy lotus root. Two lunch specials can be shared amongst three people, otherwise expect to leave with leftovers. Given Daldongnae wasn't busy during their weekday lunch, their service was spectacular. Still, if you go for lunch, I'd stick with their wheelhouse and order table BBQ as the stone bowl mains were not impressive. If Daldongnae wants to pump up their weekday lunch service, I'd recommend they switch to something they can execute better. Perhaps something like Haidailao where they offer table BBQ but instead of having diners ordering proteins separately, they create a mixed platter priced per person (with still a minimum of two people required).

We tried the short rib and the tenderloin - the short rib was by far our favourite. The sides are delicious, especially the cheesy corn and steamed egg, and I love their saamjang. The store was out of meat pies, but they had some from this company. Oh my gosh, I'm so glad I decided to grab two. I ended up picking up Beef 'n Beer and Braised beef rib. From the moment I brought it home, put my oven on and let the cooking process happen, it was life-changing. The flavour of the Beef 'n Beer is my absolute favourite, and I was jonesing so much I had to find more. Thankfully, they have a retail store! I visited the location when it was just before a holiday, and I was fortunate to try the limited-edition Thanksgiving pie. That pie wasn't my favourite, but it was still good. The best pies so far (There are multiple flavours to choose from) are the Beef n Beer and the Braised beef is pretty good. I found the peppercorn pie to be overpowering if you don't really like peppercorns. It's a delicious place you must put on your list to try

The new location is certainly dofferent than their previous locations that were definitely harder to see and find if you were not in the know, compared to the easily visible from the Gardiner Expressway location now. As you enter your nose is hit with the intoxicating buttery pastry baking aromas and you are instantly hungrier. Your eyes then catch up as you start to see all the offerings in the cooked and ready to eat display cases. Along with their favourite savoury fillings they have added sweet and baked goods and even self service salads. A gem in the area, I hope they have continued success and are a long term staple for the neighbourhood. If you atr within the GTA make the drive, you will not be disappointed. Yum-o!

With a fairly sizeable menu of items, it is easy to find options for dinner or lunch. Some items cook from frozen and others require thawing, but you just pop these items in the oven and off you go to take care of everything else you have to do so your head doesn't explode. Everything is made without preservatives- basically a home-cooked meal for half the price of an Uber Eats delivery. We've had the coq au vin, the chicken white lasagna, the shepherd's pie, the turkey Chili and the cornbread. The coq au vin and lasagna particularly stood out for me as being extra delicious. The Chili was a little spicier than I'd imagined, though it was still good and I liked that they put in sweet potatoes as part of the Chili recipe. I have an easy time recommending this place for nights where you don't feel like cooking. And as a bonus you can fool your partner into thinking that you made them a nice home cooked meal, slaving for hours over the stove. I mean you know, if that's your kind of thing. Ahem.

I was looking for a quick, cheap lunch and had originally went in planning on having their salad bar but when I saw what I got for $6.00, I soon decided it was not worth the money. I opted instead, for a hot dog and a drink - $2.59 and $1.79 respectively. The service I received from the young lad manning the grilling station was mediocre at best. He was clearly there to do just the bare essentials of his job and nothing more. The condiment section also left much to be desired. Tomatoes, onions, relish, BBQ sauce, ketchup, hot peppers and pickles... that's it. Obviously geared more towards a burger than a hot dog. Anyway, I dressed my dog as best I could, grabbed my drink and off I went to find a table. To be honest, I've had better hot dogs from street vendors. This dog had no flavour at all... well that's not entirely accurate, the charred remains of the skin provided a very unpleasant flavour and left a charcoal aftertaste! I was very disappointed in my lunch and wished I had gone downstairs to the food court instead!

I had a quarter piece of chicken re-heated on the grill with some delicious bbq sauce and some cold pasta salad. The total came down to around 11$ which is what I expected. Not too expensive, but fair. The food was great, chicken was hot and the pasta was nice and light. I had to resist going back for dessert...Thanks to my strong will power, I skipped on the opportunity but it was hard ignore my temptation. The spread of treats they had on display was incredible. From pecan pie to freshly baked muffins, they had it all. I'll definitely give the desserts a try next time... The "Open Kitchen" self serve concept is awesome. You're not limited to one type of cuisine here, they offer variety which is great for someone who can't decide on what they want to eat for lunch. The service was great from all the staff members including the bus boy outside the cafeteria. Happily cleaning tables and clearing dishes. I couldn't ask for a better experience. I will definitely be back for more whenever I'm in the area.
