Mapo is one of the popular local spots to get KBBQ (non-AYCE). Located in Koreatown nearby Christie station making it a convenient spot if you're taking the public transit. Walking in the restaurant's decor has nice artwork around the seating booths and intimate seating areas. Combo C: We got the marinated combo which had the perfect amount of meats and had a nice marinate. The side dishes were decent and came with a small side soup (chose the spicy tofu). The sauces that came with the meats were a good compliment as well. Tteokbokki: A pretty standard tteokbokki - wasn't bad but wasn't the best I've had. I wouldn't go out of my way to get this again but it was a decent appetizer with the meal. I had a great time at Mapo and certainly see why there's a huge hype on this place. The staff were attentive and cooks the food for you. A perfect place especially if you're not as familiar with KBBQ.

Food was delicious here. Service was good. The staff does come by to help you with cooking. I think our favourite was the marinated pork ribs those were so good. They have house made Soju cocktails which was delicious too. Price is fair but would cost more than AYCE. Very easy to spend $50 per person here

This place is a BBQ funhouse. Loud and packed it was a little overwhelming at first but once we got into the groove and just let it happen, it all made sense. The staff were great. The guy who served us was a real showman (he should probably try showbiz after this), which added to the experience. Talent and charm aside, he helped us navigate the menu and choose a BBQ package that gave us a selection of meats to sample. After it all gets going, the various staff are always circulating, dipping in, putting the meats on the grill, working those meat scissors, and really taking care of you. The sides are manyfold and you can ask for re-ups whenever you want. Don't be shy! All in all a fun visit - be prepared to be in a party atmosphere. I suggest submitting fully to the party flow. The next visit we would probably choose some more targeted meats instead of the sampler and just go for the ones we liked best. We now have the knowledge. Would also get beer and soju (we only had soju this time) because they go together so very well.

Really nice visit good service and they give you yogurt drinks after you pay! The honey comb pork belly was the best and the side dishes are really good!

I like the way they decorated the place, like a mini food street with all vendor banners. They have grill tables and the best part is that the staff will cook for you. The place is pretty bustling and you need to yell in the conversations. The marinated beef ribs were the best. The steak was hard to chew though. Reminder - double check your bill to see if they included the tips already. We went to pay and entered the tip %, only found out afterwards that it was already included in the bill. This is a Korean BBQ place in Ktown. I would rate this as average (3.5/5.0). In my opinion, I think Daldongnae is a better experience and more value. Mapo is probably a better option if you want foods other than BBQ as the menu here is larger, and/or value higher quality meats. Pros: + Meats are good quality. + Dishes (only tried the cold noodles) are good tasting. + Seating is spacious, interior is nice. + 10% cash discount. Cons: - Meats are pretty small portion for what you pay. - Side dishes are pretty subpar in my opinion. - Service is subpar. The servers kept coming and fiddling with our stove (like 10+ times). Also different servers would come (and do the exact same thing) and there was no coordination between them. - Doesn't take AMEX.

This is another great KBBQ restaurants that I have been to. Very similar to Daldongnae Korean restaurant, but Mapo offers more variety. The "refillable" side dishes are a bonus. Waiters are friendly and helpful. They helped us with the cooking. The price was reasonable, it cost us $65 for 2 meat orders, and cold noodles. Would definitely go back!!

Taste: 4/5 This KBBQ place offers a good variety of meat and other BBQ items. You can ask for refills of "panchan" side dishes as if you were in Korea. Bonus: enjoy free yakults after the meal. Cost: about $30 per person (we had 3 meat items + 1 tofu soup + 1 glass noodles). It came with an average portion. Vibe: 5/5 It's a cozy gathering place. I loved how they decorated the place like a retro Korean neighbourhood. Great photo op!! Service: 4/5 The servers would help you grill the meat if you wanted to.

Love coming here for Korean bbq! The restaurant was busy when we came but we were still able to get seated right away. You scan a QR code on the table to get the menu. For bbq we ordered honey comb pork belly, brisket, beef short ribs, and pork jowl. If you're doing bbq there's a minimum order of 2 meats. The bbq comes with a choice of spicy tofu or spicy soybean soup. It also came with multiple sides including kimchi, soybeans, lettuce, corn cheese, and steamed egg. The staff was really good at refilling our side of lettuce whenever we ran out. We also ordered Tteok-bokki (spicy rice cakes). The staff was great during our time there. They occasionally checked on our meats while they were cooking. We also had our grill changed a couple of times. When we went their card machine was broken so they were only accepting cash. There's an ATM at the front of the restaurant with a $0.95 fee. They also gave us 10% off our bill for paying in cash. Would definitely recommend coming here for Korean bbq!

I've been here twice now and it is definitely one of my favourite Korean BBQ spots! I love the atmosphere and authenticity. The portions are a good size per meat order and my partner and I were full off 2 meat choices (min 2 order for KBBQ). We were contemplating on a third but we were glad we only picked two. We got pretty fully off the side dishes and soup that came with our KBBQ meal. Side dishes are free refills which was lovely because I love the Korean bean sprouts! Not sure if they do refills here for the cheese corn and steamed egg like Daldongnae because we were too full so never asked for refill. For the soup, you get a choice of pork soybean stew or pork spicy tofu stew and it was a nice addition to the meal. The KBBQ also comes with free lettuce as well but rice is at extra cost. For meats, we ordered the pork belly and beef short ribs - both were great options if you are unsure which meat cuts to order. They were flavourful and the dipping seasoning and Ssamjang that they provide you with compliments the meat nicely. Service here was amazing, the staff are very attentive and friendly. They have multiple servers working together as a team to help customers cook their meat, clean tables and bring out food. We barely had to cook for ourselves like at other KBBQ restaurants - the staff here basically cooked everything for us. The line up to be seated during peak times can get quite long so expect a wait during busy rush hours (we waited 45 minutes for our table). Cash payments - you'll receive 10% off your bill so bring cash! If not, they also have an ATM machine. At the end of your meal, the also give you Yakult drink too :)

I can't believe I have never been here. I'm so glad to have experienced amazing Korean bbq with amazing staff. From the side dishes to the grilled meats. Everything tasted wonderful! I'm totally coming back.

Came here at 1:30am Sunday and so glad they were still open and still serving bbq at that time! Ordered the beef, pork belly and pineapple sojuuu cocktail. Service was good, and the food was good. Loved the selections here and their side dishes except the spicy bean sprouts on the bbq tray was salty. Price wise I think it's a little expensive but it was still good. We were one of the last 2 groups there and they were nice and didn't rush us out when it was close to 3am ( they close at 3am).

Real yummy! Love it! Went last night finally! Was craving for BBQ for more than a week already! Finally had really happy dinner last night! Their meat is quite good! I really enjoyed the pork belly as ALWAYS! Although super fat! Haha normally the waiting time would be 1-2 hours right now. Due to its patio BBQ, but supper cool coz then we don't have to stay in a closed-area to continue breath in all the smokes! Very pleasant experience with them last night! Hope to go there again soon!!!
