We went here specifically for donuts, after reading that they had good ones. we ordered and few and were mostly pleased. They didn't have a classic glazed, which is what I prefer, but they had some cool options and they were mostly pretty good. I don't think I'd specifically recommend this place for its donuts, or feel the need to return for them, but they were decent. The service was okay. read more

Low key the best burritos wraps and salads on the block. This is my go to spot when I am grabbing lunch, and the service is always friendly. They also have a pretty decent grocery selection; it's a bit pricey but you are getting a selection of high quality, sustainable foods. My favourite item on the menu is the breakfast burrito, which is equally as delicious with eggs or vegan-style with tempeh. read more

Stopped in to grab a quick bite for lunch and was presently surprised. They sell a small curated selection of mostly organic groceries and then also have a prepared foods section with sandwiches, salads, and other items. I opted for a tuna melt with pickles and really enjoyed my sandwich. Will return! read more

They do some things right, however there is so much more they could do, and they do some things wrong. Like short hours from time to time. You train people to come here to eat, then spontaneous cut your hours and a regular show up and you piss them off. Everything I have eaten here so far is good and flavourful. I do enjoy going here and hanging around a bit after I finish my food. Service needs a step up. read more

The Fruitful Market. One of the few viable lunch or dinner options that holds it's own next to the unfortunate placement of a Subway in the corner of Carlaw and Dundas. An oasis for organic sand vegans, and those too lazy (read:me) to cook for themselves. The menu changes weekly, with most lunch options as a regular feature. A few hits and misses, especially with being on the pricier side, but overall, pretty good, and I'm happy to see this independent business thriving as a welcome addition to my neighbourhood. This place also carries local gems such as Death In Venice gelato (try the peanut butter croissant), local organic produce, and local bakery finds. They might even be hiring, should you be looking for that too. And, yes, go. You're welcome. read more

Pretty hit and miss. Ordered a breakfast wrap and sandwich and was pretty underwhelmed for the price point. Also ordered a 'greens salad', which turned out to be just some lettuce and a side of potatoes and they packaged them in the same container. Hot and cold together? The 'salad' was wilted and soggy when I got home because of this. It's too bad because this could be a great spot in the area if there was more attention to details. Won't be back. read more

Small grocery/prepared food store with a focus on natural, organic products. The proximity of this place to my work has made it a weekly go-to. Their lunch options are often quite good. You can get your choice of sandwich/wrap, and additional side salad for around 12-15 bucks. A tad pricey, but in Leslieville most lunch options will run you that much if you want good food and a good portion. The chicken pesto sandwich is always a favourite. I have had a couple wraps that were underwhelming - not sure the Shawarma wrap was really what I look for when I have a shawarma craving. I've also tried a steak sandwich and a couple pulled beef wraps, both of which were quite tasty. They also have breakfast available if that's more your speed - haven't tried them for breakfast yet but hope to some day soon. read more

Pros - Very carefully chosen (small) selection of organic produce and packaged goods. Nice salads, sandwiches and pastries, prepared on site. Cons - If you're just coming for espresso-based drinks, go across the street to Dundas & Carlaw (the name of the coffee shop). They take their coffee seriously, unlike Fruitful. My experience, with staff, based on 3-4 visits, is that the are not overly welcoming, knowledgeable or communicative. read more

A complete rip off. Over $3 for self serve drip coffee. Prepared food presented as organic when it in fact isn't. To top it off the much of the served food is recycled not fresh other than veg. Market organic items are sold at ridiculous prices. enjoy a $7 loaf of bread, a $6+ bag of chips or $7 chocolate bar. The owner (who enjoys holding grudge), has made it impossible to reach him for a complaint with numerous dead email addresses. A kitchen staff member nearly assaulted me as if he was Rambo when I asked for a phone number. The counter staff have zero authority over anything. Often no management is present. When paying tips are added to your bill even for grocery items by default which is actually fraudulent as it's not clearly stated. If you want to burn $25 for sandwich, side and drink or $10 for a 10oz mostly water smoothy this is the place. A far better much more honest and vegan place has just started business across the street in the former Shirley's. Definitely try them instead. Far better coffee is available for $2 across the street at Dundas and Carlaw where customers and patron are treated respectfully. read more

I'm very grateful to have Fruitful in the area, it is one of the only super healthy, quick, easy and affordable options for delicious, healthy take-out in the area. I've been visiting since they opened and continue to be impressed by the wide range of options available. On a weekly basis, the staff cooks up loads of delicious new items while the go-to's continue to get better. When I'm in a dinner bind, I always just grab half a bird and some salad and thank heaven this place exists. Breakfast options are decent but I find there is better value to be had nearby and frankly speaking; frying a few eggs isnt that big a chore. That said, LOVE this place. While I yet I too abhor the modern concept of snobby hipster service,I've yet to find any trace of it here. In my experience, the staff at Fruitful have been awesome, helpful, quick and funny and I look forward to getting my dinner here nearly every single night. Keep it up! read more

This place has a lot going for it - especially great location for Leslievillians looking for something quick but there's a problem: I've had a lot of their prepared foods and I'm sad to say they consistently disappoint in the flavour department. Fantastic addition to the neighbourhood. Yannis is a friendly and attentive owner who's clearly in tune with what those in the neighbourhood are after. Great selection, reasonable prices (considering the quality) and very friendly staff. Richard and Nabila in particular are lovely. Everything from excellent greens, to organic cookies, and meat from Sanagan's. Their prepared food offerings as well continue to evolve and are consistently tasty and a good value. I seem to be on a mild rampage against the lack of customer service in a lot of the young staff working in establishments across my neighbourhood. Might as well do it all in one go. As an addition to the neighborhood - Fantastic. Food quality and choice: Excellent.I love their soups as they comforted through my flu better than anything else. Price: High but worth it. Staff: this is where it gets tricky. I wish I knew the names of those who are a delight to deal with so I dont include them in my feedback of disappointment. But when I have to point out to one of the servers that I personally moved empty boxes out of my was so I can place my order and the response is " I know, i just finished putting out new stock" but no attempt is made to clear the floor" it's not a good start. And when I assume that it was my fault for not being clear and restate that it might be a safety hazard to customers and the answer is " I'm doing this (serving me), followed by the look that says "what's your problem lady?", then an even stronger look when I order the food posted on the counted but apparently not available for another 45 minutes, then I DO have a problem. .A BIG problem. Which is a shame because I havent been there since and I miss the place. read more

If you forgot to pick up dinner while returning home from a late night at work then this place is good. The fresh chicken breasts and selection of fresh meats are decent. The portions are good but the prices are expensive. The prepared food sections are not bad. They have a good selection of salads and a bigger selection of chicken potions for you to take home. The grocery section is good. Overall a decent place to get your produce and fresh meals. read more

This is now my go-to lunch spot. The 3 salad bowl is the way to go (sandwiches are awesome too!). I've been impressed with their variety and quality of taste since day 1. I had a nice chat with the owner who talked about his dedication to procuring produce with high nutrient content. At first I thought this meant higher prices but their price points are totally reasonable for the quality of product you are getting. I've recommended this place to numerous friends and will continue to do so. read more

We welcome any new addition to this neighbourhood, where I once spent half my career in and have lived in since the early 80s. The sandwiches here are first-rate, but are they really better value than those just down the road @Brick Street? Service was fine, with the exception of a misunderstanding. One also questions the wisdom of offering their $12 plus taxes per pint, non-dairy gelato, when award-winning Ed's Real Scoop is a mere five minute walk south. A work in progress. I am done. This place has really lost its way. They started as a fresh food market but when they started doing prepared foods, the neighbourhood loved it. It was often good, but always a little hit and miss- occasionally you'd get a really good meal but for the most part, they don't seem to have a real chef who understands how to make consistently good food. They eventually let the fresh food side of the business lapse - potatoes and onions got mushy in their baskets and I have not once bought an avocado from them that wasn't black inside. Now they've expanded to include restaurant seating but they're serving the same slimy salads from a dark counter that doesn't seem to be properly refrigerated (I have had food poisoning from their salads, but I let it slide because they were nice guys). The prepared hot foods are the same all week- which would be fine if they were knockout good, but they just aren't. Vegetarian meals are always some form of poorly spiced slop or they attempt to sell"meatballs" that ultimately just taste like glue. Its too bad because there is so much support from the neighbourhood. I held off on writing this review for a log time because I honestly wanted to support a local business and I was holding out hope that they would turn things around but the last straw was the "muffin" I bought this morning that didn't even make it out of the store before crumbling into a pile of wet oats.
