Never heard of Korean malatang. So let's see if they're pretty good eh or ew. I got their pork guobaorou, mala Xiang guo, peach iced tea, and grape ade to try. The pork guobaorou was perfectly crispity crunchy with a sweet sticky sauce. Unlike normal malatang They make your bowl for you so it's kinda a surprise what you get but I added pork and spam to mine and made it level 1 spicy. It was fun discovering all the things in it. There were a bunch of stuff from chewy glass noodles, veggies, fish cake, sausage ecetra. I thought it had the perfect amount of addicting numbing spice but it was too spicy for my grandma. It was also pretty oily. The pickled yellow radish they gave with it added an extra crunch and sweetness that helped cut through some of the oiliness. The peach iced tea had strong tea flaves with light peachy notes. The grape ade tasted like the grape gummies plus lemonade. Both paired really well with the meal and helped cool it down a bit. Overall this place is lowkey pretty good. Guobaorou $5.47 Malaxiang guo $17.31 (+$2.73+2.73 for spam and pork) Peach tea $4.56 Grapeade $4.56

We waited about 1 hr for a party of 6 to be seated, but I saw the waitlist before us, there were a lot of big groups before us. There's valet parking a little further down the street for $2. The waiting area is quite big too so it's not cramped at all. The buffet selection was pretty good, a lot of good variety. All of the servers that attended to us were great, my group was a little disorganized with ordering soup base and meat, as it was half of our group's first time having hotpot in general. I apologize for our chaos and thank them for being so patient with us lol. Will definitely be returning again.

The place area for this place was very dirty with lots of trash & hobo so I definitely wouldn't recommend anyone with small children or come here alone. The neighborhood is really sketchy and stinky with lots of flys. The front entrance was also hard to find and no signs of where the entrance was since good map didn't take us to the correct door. We also spent some time looking for parking but they also have a lot for $2 parking for customers so we just paid. Wished they mentioned that when I called so we didn't have to waste time looking for street parking. Food was ok, there weren't many options to choose from other than a few repeated items. The sauce bar was pretty confusing since their name didn't match where they put the sauce. The portion of the meat side were too little and can only order 4 at a time. We finished our meat just couple mins after it was on the table. It wasn't too busy when we went so that was good. Nothing special or good food that I would come back again. The price we paid for definitely wasn't worth it tho.

I do think their broth or options at the station might be riddled with MSG. I would suggest others to be wary of this and ask staff if you have any questions before you order. Also the same tongs used for shrimp can also be used on the meats so it's cross contamination. The place is clean and staff is friendly. I came at night and it was bright and lively with music.

The service here is topnotch and subtle as always, with the young girls always respectful and welltrained by the middle-aged Korean couple who run a great restaurant business. Especially the Hispanic lady in the red hair. Passive aggressive acting like she's busy but realistically she isn't. Asked her for radish and garlic and was told " There is not any left, you have to go find it" when that was told to me I was kind of in shock as to where I was even suppose to go find it. . They only have 1 broth only and it's just water, seaweed, and shitake mushroom. I asked if they have soup base and they just shouted at me that there is t any and to use whatever condiments they had in the table which is Chili Oil, Chili Sauce, Chili Powder, Ponzu, and Soy Sauce. Just a heads up also they don't have any hot drops either. Meat quality is mediocre and portions are decent. The restaurant layout was a little confusing you basically sit in front of strangers while you are eating. All in all there are better shabu restaurants near by, go the extra couple minutes for better service and better quality. I would love to write more but it's just not worth it. If you are up for experimenting what bad service feels like come here. If not be warned. Will not come back here again.

Service was okay overall -- we did have to call our server a couple of times when we needed things. The inside of the restaurant is very pretty and clean for the most part, which made the experience enjoyable. Our adviser, Alex, was so helpful and brought out their special sauces that defining elevated our experience. He explained each beef profile and the broths in detail and walked us through the best way to eat. I was skeptical at first how much different the wagyu versus non-wagyu meats are so we tried the wagyu round versus the eye of round to compare an we can immediately taste the difference. The wagyu melts in your mouth, there's a stronger umami flavor, and overall sticks to your tastebuds much stronger than the non-wagyu beef. Both delicious but I did find the wagyu beef a lot more memorable and much easier to chew. The service here was fantastic and shoutout Alex again for pointing out the happy hour specials. We enjoyed $2 house sake which is unheard of! I love the ambiance in here because you can come as you are but still feels elevated and comfortable.
