Chicken Sujebi $17.99
Susan L.

This place is fantastic. I've eaten a lot of chicken noodle soup in my life, but this one is extraordinary. These noodles are delicious, scratch-made, hand-torn, perfectly chewy, tender, and fresh! The soup broth is rich and deeply delicious. Too much to eat in one sitting, even though I was head over heels. Definitely bringing my own take-out container next time! Great people watching, too! [Note: I'm allergic to shellfish and couldn't get a confident answer about the kimchi so I couldn't try it. The other side of pickled vegetables was delicious!]

The atmosphere is a food court and today was noisier than usual with nannies allowing the boys to run rampant. Service was very polite and helpful. I was a little disappointed in my dish. I did not see a spicy seafood version and so I got seafood knife cut noodles. I prefer spice, so even though the broth was flavorful, it was just not my favorite. The kimchi (white and red cabbage banchan) were pretty good. The noodles were very soft, which I found sad. I expected a bit of bite or springiness, but the dish ended up reminding me of Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup. On the plus side, the amount of seafood, especially clams was generous and the sliced pumpkin was creamy and delicious.

cheese tteokbokki

My partner and I stopped by the Koreatown Plaza on a Friday evening for dinner. It is always a nice, cozy spot to eat some more affordable and delicious Korean food. It wasn't super busy, but most restaurants were about to close. Most restaurants close at 7 PM here. I wanted to try something new this time, so I decided to order the Cheese Tteokbokki from this restaurant. I was not expecting the portion to be so LARGE! The dish included rice cake and fish cake per usual, plus some ramen noodles, mozzarella cheese, and green onion. It tasted alright, but it was certainly not the best tteokbokki I've had. I had a lot of leftovers, so I went back and asked for a to-go box. They said it would be $0.50 cash/coins only. Unfortunately, I don't carry cash or coins on me, so I couldn't get one. I had a lot of food left that I didn't want to waste. Luckily, my partner asked the restaurant they ordered from & was able to get me one for free. After this experience, I highly recommend ordering your food to-go if you don't think you can eat all of the food, or have some cash on hand. Overall, I wasn't super impressed by the dish and would likely not order it again. I would be open to trying other dishes. Parking: Free parking lot with validation!

Huge portion sizes!! This was one of my first times having korean cold noodles and it wasn't bad. I think the flavor just kind of got boring after a while and the veggies were not ones I usually like. The price is great for the amount of food you get. However, i never really except too much from food courts. $0.50 for to-go containers and it's cash only. Service was quick. Plenty of seating in the food court and free parking for three hours with validation! There's an hmart next to the food court as well, so you can get some grocery shopping done.

Food court with plenty of selection of soupy noodles. Be prepared to bring your own container if you want to save .25 cents. With plenty of patrons it was comforting to see. Order: #11 Seafood Suyebi $16.99 while it had about 4 mussels & maybe 1-2 shrimp, I don't remember the other seafood pieces. It was lack luster in taste. Next time I'll have to try something else, but until then, happy eats!0

chicken kalguksu

Me and a friend were stopping by music plaza to get some kpop albums after seeing Ateez when we decided to stop in the food court to get some lunch. I was in the mood for some kalguksu so I ordered the chicken kalguksu from here. The lady taking my order was very patient and helped correct my pronunciation of the dish. When I tell you their portions are generous I mean it. I thought I was dreaming when I saw the bowl of noodles! It's definitely enough to feed two people! I had to pack up the leftovers for my next meal. The noodles were perfectly chewy, it was a great texture, very silky and easy to slurp. The chicken was super moist, something I was surprised by, I was expecting it to be on the drier side. The soup was rich and packed full of flavor from the chicken. The potatoes and kambocha was a nice touch of vegetables to the dish. Im so sad that I'll have to drive 6 hours if I want to eat this again, but I will definitely come again the next time I'm in LA!

#13 Spicy Chewy Noodle
Queenie M.

Came to eat here for the first time and initially wanted to order #20 but the staff suggested to ordered #13 Spicy Chewy Noodle on their menu - it was good! It came with a side of soup and side dishes + pretty big portion for one! If you want to pack it to go, it's .50 for the to-go boxes so I just used my own Tupperware. Would come here next time to try other noodle dishes!

Cold black soy noodles
Allen K.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that this stall had the cold black soy noodles. I've only seen this on YouTube and really wanted to try it. The bowl was huge and quite filling. The soup was rich with a very strong sesame and soy flavor. It was good, but not something I would order again. I am happy to have tried this dish without having to go to Korea.

Maggie C.

Got the spicy cold noodles on a 90 degree day. The wait actually took a while. The noodles were lovely and spicy, had a pretty strong sesame taste. Came with cabbage kimchi and a cabbage pickle, along with a soy bean soup. The cabbage kimchi was old, and quite salty. Soybean soup was refreshing.

Kunous K.

It is surprisingly good!! The soup is full of clam flavoring and kimchi is fresh and tasty. The Sujebi is tender. It is a food court, can't ask too much of service but nothing I can complain.

Fan H.

When the menu said anchovy noodles, we didn't expect to see only noodles without any anchovy. The anchovey broth was heavy and flavorful, the noodles had a great slurp texture. The only issue we had was the nutrition value of this dish, but damn delicious.

Katie S.

Been here twice, excellent both times. Delicious noodles, generous portions, and affordable prices - what's not to love?! The owner (I assume) is way above average friendly and patient compared to other restaurants in the area lol. I get the oyster seaweed soup each time. Btw, if you dine in and ask for to go cup for left overs, it's 50 cents.

I happened to be contacted by the owners prior to their grand opening in regards to tasting their menu. They were going to take pictures and they needed someone to taste their food for feedback in return. Ok, I'm never one to say no to food, so I accepted. I'm so glad that I decided to go because I was beyond impressed. I did go to their grand opening (2/21/22) to support their business, as they were so graciously kind to invite me earlier. I had the opportunity to try every single item on the menu between picture/tasting day and grand opening day. I will say that EACH AND EVERY ITEM is delicious. You cannot go wrong with any of them, seriously. If you're reading this review and found that that does not help in any way because now you're still unsure of what to order, here are my standouts: 1) Kal-guksu: there are a few different types and you really can't go wrong with any of them. It just depends on what you want in it! Probably my new favorite kal-guksu in LA. 2) Tteok-galbi: one of my personal favorites. It's not an item that you can find readily anywhere. I think I've only seen one place (outside of here) that sells it. It's slightly chewy and full of amazing flavor. Would highly recommend. 3) Egg-rolled kimbap: probably one of my favorite (if not my favorite) kimbap of all time. GOATED. I would say that this is a must-order. They have two sizes, so you can get the small with something else if you'd like. Also, this is a great dish to order if you have kids since there is no spice, but there is cheese so beware lactose intolerant peeps! 4) Rice cake dumpling soup: I think this one may be overlooked due to the amount of other great options on the menu. This one is my sleeper pick, as a huge fan of dumplings (mandu) and also rice cakes. These aren't your typical, cheap and low quality dumplings. They are absolutely delicious. For my vegetarian/vegan friends: the vegetable noodles are for you! It comes with eggs by default, so you can ask to have these omitted. I would say this is in my top 5 dishes here at this restaurant. The sauce is SO GOOD. Major bonus: the portion sizes are huge! Honestly a steal at the price points. Come HUNGRY. The banchan (side dishes) are very fresh and the kimchi is made fresh daily! Parking is free (up to 3 hours) with validation on weekdays and free ALL DAY on weekends, so you can eat here for breakfast, lunch and dinner without having to pay for parking! Ask for validation when you're paying! The menu pictures are aesthetically pleasing and the video on the TV is well-made. Also, the staff is extremely generous. It's a mom-and-pop shop, so please be respectful!

But as beef stew goes...it wasn't stew-ish enough. Mostly because it has some strong seasonings, and the pieces of beef were cut really small, so it was more like a beef stir fry. That said, it was really tasty. Very flavorful, and the quality of the beef was good. I can see myself going there again. As for he place itself, the staff were nice, though going at lunch meant they were a little (and understandably) distracted. The website makes it seem like it's just for pick-up or delivery, but they have a couple small tables, both inside and outside. And I do mean small. Two people max. There's also a decent sized parking lot (the place is in a mini mall), and there's usually street parking, but at the moment Wilshire is under construction, so plan accordingly.

There is sometimes street parking but the availability is rough, it's tough to park, and even one of the meters we ended up at just didn't work. They only charge a $5 cash service charge though, which isn't bad. We were lucky to be seated right away, even in a packed restaurant. The restaurant has a surprisingly modern design, and is comfortable for as small as it is. We were quickly served their signature kimchis and barley rice. The kimchi, particularly the yeolmu (young summer radish) kimchi, has a unique flavor profile well suited to their food. We ordered 2 bowls of their plain kalgooksu, 1 bibim milmyun, and 1 tteokbokki. The food came out fairly quickly. The kalgooksu was as expected the star of the show. The anchovy broth brings a savory complexity that seems impossible for a soup made from just dried fish and a few other ingredients. It even has a rich, almost thick, quality to it that is surprising for a fish broth. Their noodles, the titular kalgooksu, have the signature irregularity and chew of knife cut noodles. I appreciate the vegetables that always come in kalgooksu, like potato, pumpkin, and zucchini, which offer an earthy heartiness to the light soup. My only complaint is that the potato is in huge irregular chunks, and is barely cooked, though I feel like I have had this issue with many of the kalgooksu bowls I've had over the years. The bibim milmyun was solid. I think that I prefer the texture and flavor of naengmyeon buckwheat noodles, but the milmyun, which are made with mostly wheat flour, still provide a satisfying chew. The sauce tasted bright and fresh, especially with a splash of added vinegar. It also came with a small side portion of spicy pork and some rice paper to wrap. The tteokbokki was the one let down of the meal. To be fair, I wasn't expecting much out of tteokbokki at all restaurant like this whose specialty is essentially the opposite. I ordered the tteokbokki as a "safe pick" for a picky eater in the group. It turned out to be a bit mediocre in our opinion, and that friend ended up enjoying their kalgooksu anyways. If you're looking to try this dish, it's definitely one of if not the best I've had in Southern California, so I'd totally recommend it. I'll also warn to steer clear of the Garden Grove restaurant of the same name and specialty. I think it's a disappointing mimicry of this place.

When you come in, there is a sign that tells you to order before being seated. My sister and her bf had yet to arrive so I placed a sizeable order for the 4 of us. Luckily, they were there (waiting in the car) so I told them to walk over so we can be seated. I ordered 2 orders of chiayi chicken (1with white rice and 1 with brown rice), 2 orders of thousand layer pancake (1 with egg and 1 with egg and cheese), shrimp wonton, dance dan noodles, wonton noodle soup, hakka mochi and forbidden rice pudding. For drinks we had a few of the shaken iced green teas and 1 taro milk tea (my sister said it didnt taste like taro) Everything was great. I was surprised my sister's bf liked the food. The chiayi chicken was good with a bit of the chili sauce (sambal). The thousand layer pancake was good if you dip it in the black vinegar (mixed with chili oil and a little soy sauce). The shrimp wonton were surprisingly light and tasty. The dan dan noodles was balanced my medium thin sliced cucumber. Everything was portioned very small so you can try everything.we didnt get additional sides because were getting full. The desserts was what I was looking forward to and it did not disappoint. The hakka mochi reminded me of the soy pudding stalls in singapore that had mochi balls filled with a black sesame paste and peanut paste inside. This is what the hakka mochi was but in dry soft chewy form with black sesame and peanut grains to top it off. For my sister, it reminded her of the filipino dessert pichi pichi. The forbidden rice pudding reminded me of a soupy version of the filipino dessert biko. It had chunks of sweet potatoes and tapioca. Also very good but my bias is the hakka mochi. It's been sitting on my saved list for a while, and honestly, this turned out to be the perfect opportunity. The space itself is bright, clean, and welcoming with warm woody tones throughout. Casual setup where you order at the counter and they bring the food out to you. I had already looked through the menu beforehand, so the real challenge was narrowing down what to order for one person. I failed at that... and I'm very happy I did. Started with the Pig Ear Salad 滷豬耳朵. Braised thin sliced pig ears dressed with soy sauce, chili oil, sesame oil, scallion, and cilantro. OMG. So good. Tender, flavorful, perfectly braised, with that satisfying chewy texture done right. Also got the Fried Peanut Salad 五味花生 with garlic, cilantro, scallions, vinegar, and Thai chili. Super crunchy, bright, refreshing, and honestly addicting. I added a cup of the Hot & Sour Soup 酸辣湯 too. Organic tofu, beech mushroom, carrot, bamboo, woodear mushroom, and egg. Super comforting with a really balanced tang and peppery heat. Not overly thick or heavy like a lot of Americanized versions can be. Exactly the kind of soup you want during a long travel day. For noodles, I ordered the Dan Dan Noodles 擔擔麵. Sesame-peanut sauce, cucumber, cilantro, crushed peanuts. Delicious on its own already, but I ended up adding some of the fried peanuts from the salad into the noodles and it became even better. Then the Three Cup Chicken 三杯雞 with sesame oil, soy sauce, rice wine, and Thai basil. I do wish it had a little more wok hei, but overall the flavor was still really comforting and savory. Extremely good with rice. Had a glass of Gewürztraminer alongside everything, which paired surprisingly well with the spice and aromatics. Their wine list leans more organic / natural wine focused, which felt very LA in a good way. Ended up sitting at a high top next to one of the managers and had a great conversation throughout the meal. She ended up hooking me up with the Traditional Shaved Ice 傳統刨冰 with grass jelly, red bean, boba, sweet potato balls, taro balls, brown sugar syrup, and condensed milk. I was already planning to order it anyway, and wow... I finished the entire thing. The brown sugar syrup was incredibly fragrant. Packed the leftovers to-go, and that ended up becoming my dinner after landing in San Francisco later that evening. Flight cancellation somehow turned into a really great food day.
