This is my first time at this location and I'm very happy with this location, especially since it's so close to my house. My friends and I went on a Saturday night around 6:15 PM. We waited about 1 hr for a party of 6 to be seated, but I saw the waitlist before us, there were a lot of big groups before us. There's valet parking a little further down the street for $2. The waiting area is quite big too so it's not cramped at all. The buffet selection was pretty good, a lot of good variety. All of the servers that attended to us were great, my group was a little disorganized with ordering soup base and meat, as it was half of our group's first time having hotpot in general. We were visiting LA for a few days and the Korean place we wanted to go has a huge line so we decided to move on and found shabuya. The place area for this place was very dirty with lots of trash & hobo so I definitely wouldn't recommend anyone with small children or come here alone. The neighborhood is really sketchy and stinky with lots of flys. The front entrance was also hard to find and no signs of where the entrance was since good map didn't take us to the correct door. We also spent some time looking for parking but they also have a lot for $2 parking for customers so we just paid. Wished they mentioned that when I called so we didn't have to waste time looking for street parking. Food was ok, there weren't many options to choose from other than a few repeated items. The sauce bar was pretty confusing since their name didn't match where they put the sauce. The portion of the meat side were too little and can only order 4 at a time. We finished our meat just couple mins after it was on the table. It wasn't too busy when we went so that was good. Nothing special or good food that I would come back again. They have a wide variety of sauces that you can mix in a hundred combinations. I alternate between two broths, the miso or pork. Both broths are flavorful and make the vegetables extra delicious. This location does not have an appetizer section like other locations; food is made to order. An excellent choice for large groups, but everyone has to be present before being seated. Weekends, especially in the Fall and Winter seasons, are busy. I like to visit on a weekday when it's chill and less crowded. Each table has a service button to flag down a staff member when it gets hectic. Service is good and quick, no small talk here. Parking is valet only, and it's $2. I've been to Shabuya a few times over the last several years and just realized I've never written a review. Yesterday's experience was by far the best. I felt their sauces have improved...especially their peanut sauce. The meats were all tasty, nice selection of veggies, seafood (shrimp, crab, crawfish, clams, mussels), dumplings, etc., The space is huge with plenty of seating. We got there right when it opened so there wasn't a wait. Service was good. The one thing that bothered me was that they charged for parking. There's a part of me that feels if you are located outside of ktown and have a big lot, parking should be free. Though it's only $2, it annoyed me being it was Sunday during lunch time. Came for some dinner and was met with a pretty rude valet interaction, only plus was they have their own parking lot. You can self park for $2. You know a shabu shabu place is good when it's packed on a Monday evening! Get there early or wait in line. Try to make a reservation if you can. We arrived at 6:00 PM and got right in. By 6:30, there was a long line. I'm not going to go into great detail. It's a chain, it's a nice place, the quality is good, and so is the service. I'm impressed that even though the floors are concrete, it's not uncomfortably loud in there. I don't know what they did to dampen the noise, but it works. I gotta' come clean. No matter what the meat dish, to me, they all taste about the same. I would have been equally happy not doing the meat but just getting what they had in the buffet line. Maybe it's just me. Just sayin'. I'm taking one star off because there was no fruit. It would have been nice to at least have some orange slices to cleanse the palate like they do at other shabu shabu places I've been to. Other than that, this place is really well-run, and the quality is excellent. There's easy valet parking in back, and the grounds walking in from the parking lot are beautiful. Shabuya has been one of my all-time favorite shabu-shabu restaurants ever since it first opened many years ago. It's AYCE (All You Can Eat), and the quality of the meat is mostly good. They also have a wide variety of fresh vegetables and seafood selections, and I love that each person gets their own individual pot. My whole family loves this place, and I've also come here many times with friends for gatherings. We went there on Saturday, October 18, to celebrate my father's birthday since this is one of his favorite restaurants. As usual, I put my name and phone number on the waiting list machine at the entrance, but this time the wait wasn't too long. Our family of nine had a great dinner together. The food was delicious, and all the servers were friendly and attentive. But, at first, they seated us at two tables that each fit four people, and said since we had nine people, only eight would get individual pots while one person would have to share--but we'd still be charged the same. I wasn't too happy about that. But later, when the next seat table became available, they offered to let two of us move there so everyone in our family could have their own pot. That was very good. It can get a bit busy, but staff kept things moving and were helpful explaining how everything works. Food quality was solid. Not mind-blowing, but fresh and hits the spot. Broth options were good and there's a decent variety of meats, veggies, and sides. Sauce bar was nice too--you can customize to your liking. Price-wise, you get what you pay for. It's not cheap, especially with a family, but for all-you-can-eat hot pot in LA, it's fair value. Definitely one of those places you come hungry to make it worth it. Horrible service!!! My family and I used to love coming to this Shabuya location. We dine here at least once a week, sometimes twice, usually with a large group of 6-10 people. We spend hundreds of dollars each visit and always tip very well, as we're also in the restaurant industry and understand how important good service is. Until about two months ago, we had nothing but positive experiences. Unfortunately, since a particular older waitress started working here, our visits have become uncomfortable due to her consistently rude and hostile attitude. On our most recent visit, she yelled at my mother-in-law for pouring broth into the pot (even though it wasn't close to overflowing) and snatched it from her hands. When we asked for napkins, she handed them over so carelessly that several fell onto the floor. At the end of the meal, another server brought complimentary sesame balls that we did not order. Because we were full, my mother-in-law wrapped them in a napkin to give to my two-year-old daughter outside. This same waitress ran over and loudly accused us of stealing, causing an embarrassing scene in front of other guests. We spoke to the manager, but our concerns were brushed off. We understand restaurant work is demanding, but repeated rudeness and publicly accusing loyal customers of stealing is unacceptable. Sadly, after being regulars for so long, we won't be returning. Went to Shabuya for a weekend lunch outing with the wifey. We were both craving some shabu shabu, and we definitely enjoyed our lunch at Shabuya. They had a very good selection of meats, veggies, and side dishes to make it a really terrific lunch experience for us. The service was attentive and the overall experience was very pleasant. If you have never been, it is mostly serve yourself. You grab all of the proteins, and vegetables and other side dishes you want to put into your suitcase. My family came here because our usually Shabuya in Alhambra is closed. The location is what it is for Koreatown, valet parking was very easy and cheap ($2). The check waitlist via Yelp helped us get on the waitlist a little quicker than if we were to arrive and use their kiosk to check in. The food and broths all came out quickly and frequently. I guess it's because they want us done within 90 minutes. The cold bar looked very fresh and plentiful, employees cleaned the bars frequently. The taste of the broth was good and the meats looked good, but we had a few portions where they sliced the meat with the grain (instead of against the grain) leading to not tender meat. Adults were $33 and children $19, so it wasn't bad for AYCE. One last observation was that the restaurant is kept cold, so where a sweater or jacket until the broth warms you up. In summary, this place did not live up to the Shabuya experiences we've had in Alhambra. No dessert, no hot food bar, cold restaurant, no physical menus, and no drink specials. It was a filling experience but the 80-90 minute drive from the 805 just was not worth it. We will be patiently waiting for the Alhambra location to reopen. read more

The food itself was good, fresh, and the selection of vegetables, mushrooms, and other add-ons was actually larger than what we experienced at Shabuya in Hawaii. That part was great. Unfortunately, the service completely changed the experience for us. We asked several questions about the meat, such as which cuts were fattier or leaner, and the servers repeatedly said they didn't know. Since customers are charged extra for uneaten meat, some guidance would have been appreciated instead of having to order blindly. The strangest and most uncomfortable part was the valet experience. While we were sitting inside the restaurant eating, the valet employee came into the restaurant and approached me at the table. After we had already paid for valet when arriving, he told me he was going on his lunch break and directly asked me for more money. I explained multiple times that we had already paid. He laughed, handed me the keys, tapped me on the shoulder, pointed at the beer on the table that my friends were drinking, and started telling me that I "couldn't drink because I was the driver" - even though I was not drinking at all. He then just stood there for a while and would not leave, which made the entire situation extremely uncomfortable and awkward for everyone at the table. It completely changed the mood of the night for our group. Honestly, it was strange, unprofessional, and uncomfortable, and I would not want anyone else to have that kind of experience at a restaurant. When we were leaving, it also felt like the only concern from staff was how much tip we left rather than whether we actually enjoyed our visit. Spending over $200 at a restaurant comes with the expectation of decent service and professionalism. I am pretty sure I wrote a review about this place before - well we recently went back here last Saturday since we were in the area. This has been our go-to place since pre pandemic. It's just your straight forward shabu shabu place with decent meat choices, good selection of sides and veggies and dipping sauces for a good price. They have some Wagyu selections (not as good as pricier places) and ribeye as well - we only picked meat from 1-6 and focused on that but my teen sons just keep ordering the wagyu. I know I get my money's worth as they are meat eaters - didn't even order rice just picked the udon to add to their soup. I had the pork broth and they both ordered the sukiyaki broth. There's some seafood selection - shrimps, baby octopus, crabs and fish. We went on a Saturday afternoon around 5sh so we were seated right away and the servers were attentive and approached us every time they see that we are about to finish our 6 orders of meat. We came here today for my dad's birthday with a party of 6. The parking was ample and the crowd not too bad because we got there between 3-3:30 (after the lunch rush but before dinner). The odd thing was, it took forever for us to be seated. I've waited here before (for dinner and I get why, it's busy) but today, there was no wait. None. The servers kept saying, " we are clearing your table" for about 30 mins. When we finally got seated, the service picked up. This was the redeeming point. The soup bases are solid and meat selection solid. It's been awhile since I've been here and seemed like their "bar" for vegetables however shrank. First time at Shabuya. Loved it! Parking can be a little confusing at first. They have their own parking lot behind the restaurant where only Valet parking is available for $2. They have a sign on about their parking on one of the gates and you'll see a lit sign for it if you drive down the street a little. Street parking is scarce but sometimes you can get lucky. The entrance to the restaurant is from the parking lot. No way to enter from the front. No idea what this place used to be. Looks like it was a Japanese restaurant with koi ponds and gardens. The courtyard still exists but is not filled nor maintained. There is a blocked off area that looked like it might have been an outdoor bar or club area. It would be nice if they ever to bring that front courtyard back to life. The wait was a little long but Shabuya seems to be very popular. You add your name to a waiting list as soon as you get there. There are long benches along the wall for seating while you wait. There are several rooms/areas for dining. Hadn't realized how big this space really was until I walked in. The placed was bustling with business but somehow still felt like there was plenty of space even while walking back and forth from the self-serve bar. Higher quality meats, veggies, and seafood that other hot pot restaurants I've been to. I also enjoyed having more options for soup bases than I'm used to. Amongst my friends, we all tried something different: original, miso, pork, and sukiyaki broth. Something for everyone in the taste bud range. The self-serve bar was clean and constantly refilled. I saw someone come and wipe down the area several times as well. Some AYCE places just let the mess pile up and get gross. Service was great. We had one particular server that was extremely friendly and helpful. Even offered to switch out our bowl for new ones when it looked like we were low on broth. We left full and happy! Meats are thinly sliced and take only seconds to dip in the boiling broth. I had the spicy broth. Very tasty specially when topped with different kinds of seafood like shrimp, crab, mussels, clams plus the wide array of veggies and dipping sauces. Interesting there's no garlic in the condiments. No matter, we lived through the meal. There's a sign by the door tho, no single diner. I checked the one in Vegas and one of the questions answered was ok for single diners. Good to know. Accidentally came for dinner a bit late, showed up at 9:40pm thinking we'd have more time to order meats and use the salad bar before they closed it. Despite the closing time being 11pm, they do cut off all meat orders at 10pm and salad bar at 10:30pm so we ended up being a bit rushed to order. I do wish they had more sauce options to add to the broth and dip your meat in as it was somewhat limited. The "salad" bar was great.
