I bought a Groupon for 60min deep tissue massage. Shappell gave detailed instructions to find the location, which was helpful. Although it's in a gym, the space itself was very peaceful. Shappell was very thorough during the massage. ***however, upon reflection and discussion w a massage therapist friend on mine, I have concerns re consent in the following instances. 1. She told me that she would leave the room for me to undress but did not. 2. She told me to undress to my comfort level, which for me was top and bottom underwear. She then promoted me to remove my bra. 3. She used cupping without asking me before hand or instructing me as to why. Cupping obviously leaves marks on my back which I did not anticipate having following my appointment. This hasn't been a part of deep tissue massages I've had in the past at other places and this was the first time I'd ever have it done. 4. She took pictures of my back after the cupping which I did not consent to her taking. I would not have known she did this had she not shown me afterwards. I hope she has since deleted them. Shappell seems lovely and clearly is a gifted massage therapist. However, I feel very uncomfortable with these aspects and hope they are addressed for future clients. read more

Got a Groupon for a 1-hour massage and so glad I did! Nyesheia was my massage therapist. She was nice and I instantly felt comfortable with her. She did a Swedish massage on me with a little bit of hot stone and I loved it! I felt so relaxed and the tightness in my upper back and shoulder was definitely reduced. The head and scalp massage was my favorite! She also told me about their specials for the month of Nov and Dec and there is a $20 off deal when you get a massage Mon, Wed, or Fri between 2-7pm. Long overdue in writing this. I had one of THE best massages by Shappell(sp?) last winter. I was impressed by her knowledge of my conditions and appreciated her suggestions and a couple samples she gave me to try for my tired, achy muscles. She really knew where to concentrate on several of my knots. Overall an awesome deep tissue massage. I used a Groupon so that helped a lot as the normal prices are compared to spa prices-one of the downfalls is that it is def not a spa but within a nothing-fancy gym. read more

This is an honest review of my massage at Soothing Hands Massage Therapy. Pros The massage therapist- she was wonderful. Very professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Massage- the massage itself was very good very relaxing. Massage bed- very comfortable with a warmer and clean sheets The therapist provided small useful amenities such as mints, water, eye mask and hot towel for after which was a very nice touch. Cons The venue- i really really did not like the venue. The front desk was a little awkward and the ambiance of the place for me personally was not relaxing. To best describe it (my personal opinion) - it was like an old apartment unit in a small gym turned into a massage parlor. I wish there was photos on the inside online so you could see and decide if this ambiance is for you, that would be a small suggestion I would give. The music- Smooth jazz that was loud- personally not what I would want during a massage. It was distracting and not relaxing for me. I do suspect this might have been to coverup the noise from the gym maybe; which I can understand if thats the case. Personally, I would not be back because the venue made this not relaxing for me. If that is not important to you then I would say give it a try. The masseuse is great and you will get a nice massage from her. These ladies work magic with their hands. I went in with a groupon for a facial and a 60 minute massage (upgraded). I had no idea this was going to be in a gym, but don't let that deter you at all. I regularly get facials and massages, but this was above and beyond the norm! The room is dark and there is a fireplace going to keep the room nice and warm. The music was soothing. They massaged out my knots and hit pressure points that had me feeling like butter. They paid close attention to all the detailed areas where you would never think tension would be hiding. The ears, my nose ridge, cheek and under eye area, scalp massage, and all the nooks and knots in my back all melted away. They took great care of me from head to toe - literally. I loved the smells of the different massage oils, the tea tree scented oil used for the head massage, tangerine scented cleanser, and other facial products smelled so fragrant. They are truly a step above the rest. Genuinely gifted in their craft with their focus, attention, and skills. The only thing I would probably say was a draw back was the limited availability of changing rooms. It would be nice if they had more bathrooms or changing rooms. It would help so that we could get ready in private and in leisure with fewer interruptions. Other than that, I would definitely be back. read more

Excellent hot stone and regular massages. Shappell is knowledgeable and professional and knows her aromatherapy oils. I was initially skeptical about the location because it's inside a gym, but once you're in the studio, it's easy to forget. The ambiance is just as nice as any good quality massage therapy studio.
