I been here before years ago... it's not as welcoming as it was before but the hay ride and pumpkin picking was really fun. It was a nice quick experience lol. I came here with my family for peach picking but this place didn't quite make it for us. The peaches were extremely fresh BUT the staff were not so friendly. Of the four staff we encountered, only one of them cared enough to bring their customers a fun enjoyable experience at the farm. Upon getting there, we were directed to a free optional 2-3 minute hay ride that took us to the peach trees. Everything seemed fine until we got to the field. We were restricted to only two rows of trees but since every farm has its own rules, we respected that. It was really no big deal since there were still plenty of peaches to pick within those two rows. We were reminded by the tractor (hay ride) driver to not pull on the trees and to not, by any means, climb the trees. Again, we respected that... BUT HE HAS TO CHILL! Of the entire group of at least 2-3 families, he followed and watched us intensively as if we were going to damage his trees. He followed us wherever we went and constantly warned us about handling the trees with extensive care. HELLO?! We're here to have fun, not to damage your damn trees. What pissed me off even more was when he proclaimed "These trees are worth at least a couple of thousands, so don't damage them" in a very condescending tone of voice. I'm not quite sure if he was just plain rude or he was extremely racist, but honey, if we damage a single tree, we WILL pay for it! Quit bugging! By the time I was done and waiting for the next hay ride to get back to the entrance, I was chatting with the only other staff at the field. I learned that there ARE people, mostly adults, who tend to pull/climb on trees, so I suppose it would only make sense that they might be a little overly sensitive/protective but I'm sorry, tractor driver, your way of protecting the trees really isn't the way to go. You should learn how to be nice and polite about things from your co-worker. Oh, and perhaps, you should learn how to not discriminate people while you're at it too. read more

I've only been to the market at Soons. I love their bakery--the brownies make me swoon. I come to Soons for fresh apples and veggies on a weekly basis. Everything is fresh and many of their products are made on site. Everything from the popcorn to the salsa is on point. read more

I love going to Soons for their apple cider. The staff is very helpful when we get fruit baskets made for family at the holiday season. Still have not gotten to go into the hard cider testing room but am looking forward to trying it soon. I really don't have enough good things to say about them! I just went to my 3rd Farm to Table dinner and as it has been in the past, it was amazing. The food is so incredibly fresh, the meals are unique and creative, and Chef Sean has a great personality! I also love how family oriented they are there. We have gone here for YEARS for apple and pumpkin picking. They have the BEST apple cider, donuts and pies out of any orchard or bakery in this area! I enjoy visiting this orchard/farmers market a lot, and would give it four stars except I was raised in Warwick, and it's cider, etc. cannot compare to Ochs's Orchard. The orchard is very nice, the parking area is small, and the last time we came, people were actually getting stuck in the mud, my brother, father and I had to help a poor woman by pushing her car out of the mud! The cider is good, but not great. It is handmade right at site, so because of that one batch can turn out better than another. The cider doughnuts are by far the best thing about this place. Absolutely fantastic. My Dad says they freeze well also, not like I've had any leftovers to do so! The other baked goods? Meh. Jams and butters are okay, I don't know about the fresh peanut butters they sell, but I can tell you the salt free almond butter is awful. Apples are delicious. Pumpkin picking is a lot of fun also. This place is amazing. Their apple cider is the best tasting apple cider I have ever had. Their scones blueberry and strawberry are delicious. They make a blueberry crumb pie which is my favorite and if you don't want a whole you can get a half. They make an apple crisp that is gluten free. Their apple cider donuts are the best in New York and New Jersey, that I have ever had. The apple cider slushie is delicious, try it. I love their peanut butters too!! Their store is worth checking out. I drive almost 2 hours to get their apple ciders because even though I have moved I am that loyal to Soon's Orchard. I have tried other places but no other orchard compares to Soon's. This place is worth the drive. I highly recommend this place, try it!! read more

Today while at the Warwick Farmers market I came across this vendor. On the table were baskets of peaches for $10.00 I gently picked one peach up to smell it. I love the smell of fresh peaches and before spending the money on just a few peaches,i had to do a "sniff" test.It was not touching my face. No sooner than I started to sniff, a voice rang out from behind the counter,causing all customers to stop and turn. I was reprimanded in a nasty tone"dont rub the peach over your face" I was taken aback, put the peach down and scurried away, embarassed. Thankfully at the next table was a lovely woman selling pastries made from the fruit from Soons Orchard. It seems they were all together.. I gave the 4 stars for the delicious confections. They were superb,especially the apple turnovers.. My advice to the rude woman is just dont speak in that tone to anyone, especially if what you are accusing is simply not being done. Learn from the woman selling the pastries how to be nice. I planned on buying quite a lot of peaches to make 20 pies for a special occassion. The sale was lost to rudeness. I purchased at another stand and they had no problem with me admiring the scent of their peaches. I guess whoever picks and packages your peaches does so with a mask and gloves.. read more

We've been to a LOT u-pick orchards over the years (Upstate NY and east end long island) and by far the best time we have had in years. The best selection of apples, minimal crowds, fresh off the vine pumpkins, fresh apple cider and fantastic cider donuts all without those added "fees" at many other places - parking, etc). So tired of large crowds and being treated like cattle for only a few apples, this was the answer to our prayers . My kids (7 and 5) have already asked to come back. (I actually thought about not leaving a review to not let our new-found "secret" out of the bag. The only negative was the rather long wait for the hay ride to the pumpkin patch (but of course all was forgiven when we got 5 "perfect pumpkins"). read more

I visit multiple local stores from all around. This is one of the worst stores I've been in. You walk in there's no greeting. Additude is very bad. They don't have there own style everything they have is copied from other stores. When asking about other local shops they put a bad word on every store even local farmers. "Minkus, Ford's, forinos, Conklin's, etc" they all say bad things. I went and visited them and they all have high respect for each other except soons orchards. This review is not just for Google but many others. I will never recommend them to anyone. There pricey, copy others, unsanitized areas, there products are not gmo approved or USDA and gluten free products. There's fruits are not truly rated so you can be eating chemical fruits and vegetables, yuck! read more

We often make a trip here every weekend during apple season. The cider is delicious, the baked good rock (nothing better than a fresh, hot, cinnamon sugared cider donut with hot mulled cider on a chilly day), and the selection of apples is stellar. Love that they sell local organic beef as well. The distillery next door has a speakeasy on Saturday evenings which is an enjoyable, relaxing way to spend a few hours and is perfect for a date night. They have activities for the kids around Halloween, too. During the fall - if your timing is lucky - you'll stop by when they have apple wood for sale. If you have never used apple tree wood in your fireplace, give it a try as the smell is incredible. Various veggies are also available during the times when they ripen (like corn, squash, tomatoes, etc.). We have yet to take part in the apple picking, but I can say that the parking area for that activity is always packed during the season. The picking area is actually completely separate from the cider mill and is located about half a mile away. It's hard to classify a price range as it all depends on what you buy. Things are fairly priced, especially the baked goods and cider considering they are super fresh and made in house. I think the gallon of cider was $1.00 more than the stuff found in grocery stores that has is weeks old. My only sore spot is the staff. It's hit or miss whether or not you will get a smile and helpful attitude, a rude comment, or being totally ignored even when asking them something point blank to their face (which makes you want to drop your basket and leave). It's not so much the older staff but the younger ones, and it's regardless of how slow or busy it is. It's frustrating to ask for help only to be ignored or told 'wait a second' while they openly and at a quite audible volume discuss why they dislike other employees/working there/their boss/dealing with customers. Maybe this makes me sound like an old fogey, but you don't bash customers or your employer in front of another customer. We've had enough good experiences to keep us coming back, but hopefully the staff hired to work during the busiest months this fall will be a bit more customer orientated. read more

We really liked the Farm Market and got many yummy things there. We bought honey, cider, chicken soup, apples, honey sticks, and delicious cider donuts. We were a bit disappointed that they finished the apple picking over the weekend and didn't keep it going for Monday, which was a holiday. Otherwise nice little place. Also on the property is a local hard cider company that does not appear to be under common ownership. The cider distillers frequently have fun events including live music. I live in New Hampton NY and this is one of my favorite places in my town, We buy a lot of our produce here, we find the freshest corn, tomato's and in the fall the best selection of Apples and the tastiest apple cider on the planet. Also a high mention to the the fresh made Peanut butters and apple cider donuts. I grew up in a farm town in Northern NJ and that had two great farms, Van Ripers and Tice, they are gone, sold out to yuppie outlet malls, I wanted my children to grow up around the same atmosphere I did when I was a kid and found this gem in Orange county. We live on a nice rural piece of land and have this fantastic place to visit. The people that work there and own it are very nice, they do a great job and I just wanted to tell them how much I appreciate them. read more

We absolutely adore this orchard! My husband grew up in Goshen, NY and frequented this business as a child, enjoying pies regularly. We live down south now and visited while on vacation with our children. To our dismay, the pies were sold out when we went to pick some up. The owner/manager was so amazing when I told her he had talked nonstop about getting the pies since our flight departed and was looking forward to sharing a piece of his childhood with our little ones. She was so incredibly helpful! She instantly called the bakery and told us they were in route and to wait a few mins. When they arrived she grabbed us the only two apple pies on the truck and walked them right over to us. Such a friendly, family-centered atmosphere with amazing pies, apples, ciders and treats galore. The apple and pumpkin picking are equally as great and a must when visiting Goshen! Highly, highly recommend and can't wait to return! read more

We love coming here. We love the good for you and the not so good for you foods. The staff is awesome and friendly and helpful and will go above and beyond for you. When I have friends from out of the area come visit, I always take them to Soons and encourage them to buy one of everything to take home with them. Sure enough, it isn't long before they want to come back and visit and load up their car with goodies. My mother in South Florida hoards donuts like the world is coming to an end. My kids love Soons @ Halloween time. The maze is a big hit for them. Everything w in the little store from produce to canned goodies (they have a bunch) and of course the donuts all very tasty and of course produced w in the hudson valley which is a huge plus. Tasting room they added is nice. Feel its a bit pricey compared to other local orchards/farm markets and would be nice if there were more picnic benches since the place is always packed and you are left standing. read more

My husband and I bought bags of apples from Soons. What a disappointment! Underneath the top layer, the apples had spots and were mushy. We paid a lot of money and would have been better off at the local supermarket. Shame on you, Soons! read more

Beautiful farm and store. However, I went with my family, including 2 small children, on the last Saturday in September. While I understand the selection is usually not as good by the end of September, there was an older "gentleman" yelling and cursing at us that we were not allowed to pick apples that we couldn't reach from the path, meaning no stepping forward to get apples at eye level within the trees and no reaching on tip toes to get apples above us. He also would not allow us to pick up the children to reach apples. Additionally, he kept roping off sections with apples in reach as we neared them, insisting the apples were not ripe, further upsetting us and the children. I completely understand why climbing trees would not be allowed, and we did not attempt to; but after paying $26 for a bag of apples, you bet we were doing anything we could to fill our bag, or at least go home with SOMETHING. Without reaching into the trees or above our heads, there were no apples available to us. Forget the fact that the children couldn't pick apples (the whole point in going) with this asinine "no reaching" rule screamed at us, how were we supposed to go home with anything at all? Well when we calmly asked just that, we were told "I don't give a f--". Even one of the younger employees said to another confused customer "what the hell are you supposed to do?" So we ignored the cranky old man and picked the children up to reach the apples and stepped into the branches off the path anyway. But still, I was sad to have given them any of my money. Definitely not appropriate to curse in front of small children or to treat customers with such disdain. Will NOT be back. read more

Normally, we love Soons. We go every year to get the best apples and cider donuts, and then end up picking up a bunch of other things. That's why I was SO very disappointed this year with the Macintosh apples!!! They were inedible--obviously, they were picked way too soon. They were extremely tough and sour. Usually, Soons' macs are the BEST. I decided to cut them up and cook them up to put on other things like pancakes, etc. but it was even difficult getting a knife through them. Honestly, the Macs I got at my local NJ Shop-Rite were better than these. read more

We're not treated like family! Our family each year goes apple picking and decided to try Soons Orchard. We had previously been to Keepsake Farms for many years that allow you to drive into the orchard and picnic. I called ahead to confirm we could picnic in the orchard (as well as confirm if dogs were allowed) and were told there was an area by the marketplace to picnic since there was no room in the orchard. We drove 2.5 hours and between 15 people, we purchased $150 dollars worth of apples. Upon setting up a picnic near the marketplace/Kitchen area, we were told the area was only for kitchen customers but allowed us to stay this one time. We then had 6 people come up to us to let us know we should not be picinicing anywhere and were made to feel very unwelcome even though we had purchased $150 of apples and informed the farm we would also be purchasing other items in the marketplace. Our family outing was ruined since we were made to feel so unwelcome and as a result we did not purchase any items from the marketplace. It is unfortunate that a family owned establishment will be missing out on future business since we will no longer be patronizing Soons Farm and will discourage other friends and family from coming. read more

Went the third week of September and several rows of trees were roped off, the ones that weren't roped off had zero apples for the first 300-400 feet, and the walkways were very difficult to navigate. No scenery whatsoever. So many other places to go in the Hudson Valley. Super disappointed. read more

Compared to other such farms, this place doesn't compete. Went there yesterday, and we were very disappointed. They were busy, but service was terrible. E.g. they rang up our dozen eggs for $9.99, when they were marked for $3.05. It literally took them over 5 minutes to correct the problem, and we had to endure a very rude manager through the process. Asked for sugar pumpkins and they said they had none.
