I was lucky enough to find Suki's alterations just in time to hem my long formal dress that needed to be shorter! I called her before going in to see if she had any openings on a Saturday, and she kindly was able to see me. I was told it would be finished in about a week, however, she texted me Monday morning (2 days later) that it was finished and ready for pickup! What service! It was affordable, she charged me $30. When you go, she will ask you to change into the clothing in the dressing room so she can pin the appropriate places. Tip, make sure to bring your shoes as she wants to make sure she is able to do appropriate alterations you will be happy with :) Plenty of parking right outside, located upstairs on the second floor. Make sure to bring cash! Highly recommend. She is very dedicated person who cares about her work. I will now be coming to her for all my alternation needs! read more

I was so excited to come here because of all the great reviews but I was so disappointed. 1. I asked her to hem the dress to a certain length & it was literally the same length when I got it back... A few months ago, I bought a gown intended for the Alpha's Ball in April. It needed alterations for a better fit, so I did my research and found this life saver. I gave her a call and brought the gown in with heels so she could properly hem it up. She was so polite from the start. She pinned the areas that needed a better fit. Within minutes she had pinned the hemline too. When she asked when the gown was needed, she was thrilled that I came to see her with lots of time to work on it. Then COVID happened :( She called to tell me that she finished the gown early and she recommended that I pick it up before the Shelter In Place order went into effect. I went right after work, tried it on, and everything was perfect. She fitted the gown precisely and the gown looked magical. Then she said the pants would be ready in 2 weeks. 3 days later she called and the pants were ready! Wow! And she did a beautiful job. Reasonable price. What not to love about this tailor? Found this place on Google then check on Yelp. Seen some good reviews and took a chance. There is a small lot for parking, and her store is on the 2and floor sorry no elevator only stairs. Walk in and was greeted very nice, right away. She as a very small shop and just sui working in there. Address to her on what I needed and fixing, 2 work pants. She told me no problem and that she was slow and had some time for me if I feel like waiting. Less then 10 minutes she was done. Fix what had to be fix and more. first of all, I don't write this review lightly I brought in my daughter's pillowcase, which is very important to her and I wanted to get it repaired. It's very old and tattered. I've had it repaired before as soon as I came in, she immediately looked at me with an unwelcoming look she would not help me. I explain what I needed done. I understand language barriers, and that wasn't the problem. I laid the pillowcase out on the floor and explained that I wanted her to take some thread from a sheet from the same set to repair the old pillowcase. She refused to do it. there was another seamstress that used to do it for me years ago down the street from where we live, but they closed up after Covid. I explained to her that money wasn't an issue. I just needed to get this done so that we could extend the life a pillow Anyway don't expect much when you get in here. I was at least hoping to get a little help. It was just a cutting a strip of the sheet fix a tear, but it didn't happen. what a disappointment read more

Sook Hi is the best in the game when it comes to alterations on Oahu. She does fabulous work and is very time efficient too. She told me my dress would be done in a week, but texted me the next day saying that it was ready to be picked up! The only downfall is the price. For a single layer hem and lengthening of the slit in my dress was ~$90. But you get what you pay for because the stitching looked flawless! read more

Actually, the service has been WAY below par since my review. Maybe because she's gotten busier? Charges a lot really for each service and has to be CASH. She MACHINE hems items and they look TERRIBLE. Gave her an expensive sweater to hem. She machine stitches it and it looks awful with the hem shriveled and curling because of the tight stitch. Even I, a terrible sewer, know that you HAND SEW this stuff!! Just now I took a look at a pair of pants she hemmed. SAME THING. Awful, just awful. I can't wear them. I compared them to another identical pair I have in a different color just to make sure I wasn't mistaken. The pair that I bought that was unaltered didn't have a tight machine sewn hem. It looked like a more traditional hand hem. In other words, you can't see the stitches when the pants are on and they lay nicely UNLIKE the junk hem she did. STAY AWAY! Last year, a friend gifted Ms. S a cheong sam that no longer fit her. When the same friend invited us to this year's New Year party, Ms. S still didn't get it altered - Ms. S is a lot smaller than our friend. Suki said re-stitching the gold trim needed to be done by hand but that would take us past the 22nd so Ms. S simply asked her to take in the sides which could be completed by the 21st. When I went to p/u the finished product, Suki said the cheong sam didn't look right without the gold trim so she hand stitched it anyway even if that would have costed more. You don't get service like that anymore so 5 stars! Ms. S did stop by later to pay Suki the extra cost for the hand stitching as that was the right thing to do and BTW, Ms. S does have a head, she's just social media shy... read more

If i could give her more stars i would. We needed a last minute alteration to a bridesmaid dress that needed to be taken out, that another seamstress said wasnt possible. Sook Hi told us we could get a 30 hr turn around because she was very busy for 60 bucks. I offered her an extra 40 to get it same day. She did an amazing job (a job that another seamstress couldnt do) and we were really happy that the dress was ready even sooner than we asked. She doesnt even need anymore good reviews but i wanted to write this to encourage you to pay what you ask for whether thats what she charges or not. If you need something last minute, please pay whats fair. Most places would charge the same and take a couple weeks. Not too many pro's like this are left. read more

I was late in getting my mother of the bride dress fitted. I called different places and they weren't able to book me. I saw Sook HI in Yelp had good reviews. When I went for the appointment she was very friendly and was quickly able to make recommendations on what needed to be altered. I think that her fees were very goHI. She got the alterations done in about a week and after another small alteration the dress does very well. I actually recommended her to the mother of the groom to get her dress altered. When I later spoke with the mother of the groom, she said another place she went to was going to charge her almost double and didn't seem as meticulous. It took Sook Hi only 2 hours to hem a formal dress and a pair of pants. I was shocked! I was especially pleased because I wanted to shorten the pants but maintain the pattern at the bottom. The brand store clerk had said it wouldn't be possible to hem the pants without losing the pattern. Sook Hi did the job though!! Also I wanted to take the dress in because it's a bit big on the top but she said then it would mess with the integrity of the shape. I was glad she didn't push for a service that would have left the dress in a poorer state. The rates are very reasonable as well. I will be taking all my tailoring needs to Sook Hi in the future! She also has super cute masks for sale. She is super fast but appreciates it if you don't need anything in a rush. She texts you when your alterations is complete so you can go pick it up. The place is upstairs on the 2nd floor of a two-story building. There's plenty of parking. The reviews don't lie! I had a last minute repair of a men's fleece jacket. The front pockets were coming apart where the zipper was glued in. I walked into Sook Hi's and spoke with Suki about repairing it, TODAY. She would not say out right that she could fix it, just that she would try. Looking at the other work in her shop, I felt she probably could do it, so I left my number and stayed hopeful. She texted me back in 25 minutes that it was fixed and ready for pickup! Amazing!
