I would not be surprised to find out that somewhere in the Oklahoma Historical Society archives, there is a picture of settlers in covered wagons parked in front of Son's, eating hamburgers and fries. Onion rings had not been invented back then. You don't need carbon dating to judge the age of the building. The design, the weathered wood trim and the faded discolored paint date the building somewhere between pre-Sonic era, possibly even pre-Dairy Queen. It had to be the hang out in Wagoner, in its day. It appears to be a family owned and operated business. My wife and I have grabbed burgers here several times over the past ten years. Nothings has changed. The flame still flares up on the grill when the cook flips the burger, confirming the char flavor will be present as advertised. It is a one-man kitchen, so your order may take a few minutes if they are busy. Good charburgers and onion rings. Today my wife had a half order of 3-way. The chili is very mild, lots of cheese and fresh chopped onions decorated the big bowl of food. Skip Sonic and McDonald's. Have a home town Son's Charburger instead. read more

This is the first time getting to come to Wagoner to try this burger location. I've had these burgers before and thought that they were outstanding. They char their burgers and toast the buns to perfection. The cherry limeade was a bit tart for my liking. The onion rings were tasty. When we got there it was late so there wasn't anyone in the restaurant eating it was mostly drive thru traffic. The staff were friendly and fast. For a nice charburger this is the place to go. read more

Great little burger spot! Finally got around to trying this spot since moving to the area last Summer. I can see why this place has such a long history. Very good burgers! Close to Five Guys, if you need a reference, but with that char flavor from being cooked over an open flame. Onion rings and tots were both spot on and cooked perfectly. My son and I were out for a drive and a burger the other day, and my fellow Yelpers were once again right on yet another one (mind you that I would probably give this 4.5 stars if I could). This is a tiny place, but has a quick and convenient drive thru. Our customer interactions were short, but also sweet (and who doesn't like that, right?) Burger was reminiscent of the good parts of a BK Wopr. Stay with me for a second... what I mean is that it was a distinctly flame broiled flavor, when other char broiled places lack that many times. And, the roll was similar, except very fresh and soft, and the toppings similar, except fresher tasting. It's just a much better very of a fast food burger, which seems to be the exact intention of this place. So, great job! Love the easy customization, of a simple menu (single, double, triple, etc). It was a quick and tasty experience! Bonus: the jalapeño cheese bites seem to be ordered from Cisco or something like that, but they are dang good! read more

Hit this little place up on our journey from Dallas to Northern OK. Its an old bldg. Was surprised and happy to see they had a drive thru. Menu items were very inexpensive. Ordered the charcuterie with onion rings. The burger comes with diced onions which i love, tomato, lettuce, cheese and mustard. It reminded me of a whatabuger meets char. Yum! The onion rings were fresh, crispy and delicious. We take this trip often, so will definitely try this again. read more

This place is TRASH. We took 3 families! All our orders came out wrong. We sent them back MULTIPLE TIMES and some kid came out to talk to us. The manager refused to come talk to us. Most of the food was for kids and they refused to fix the food after it was sent back 3 times. This was a lack of listening and a lack of caring. The manager sent a kid out to refund the money and refused to fix the food. We will never go back to this place! read more

We stopped here on our way through from Texas to Missouri. Clean restaurant, cheerful employees, a few booths to sit inside, and an active drive-through! We sat inside. Two of us got burgers and fries, and one of us got the chicken strip basket. It was hot, made to order, and delicious! The tator tots were well done, which my wife loves, so she was very happy! They had a special today- all medium drinks were free- so we were thankful for that treat too. We will be back on another trip! read more

We tried out the burgers for the first time on Saturday after jet skiing in Fort Gibson Lake. Let's just say it was so good we will probably make it a ritual to eat here before we make our way back to Tulsa. We tried like everything and nothing disappointed us. Frito Chili Pie, Cheese Balls, Double Cheeseburgers, Fish Burger and Onion Rings. Prices were reasonable too. If we have to be picky, the sweet tea was slightly bitter. read more

The place in Wagoner to get a burger. Not thick and juicy, but those thin crisp griddled charred patties that are still juicy. Come in regular and jumbo, with both options also coming in a double variety. Small space, with a friendly atmosphere. Despite not being a regular visitor, the cashier still recognizes me. Also have a nice variety of milk shakes of available. Good place to stop for lunch or a late snack. Be aware, this place is usually super crowded at lunch and everything is cooked to order, so if you don't plan it right you could be waiting for a bit. read more

We got some cheeseburgers and fries with some homemade cherry limeades. The cherry limeade was literally the best one I've ever had, I'm so glad we were talked into ordering some. DO NOT eat here. I like to spend my money where people deserve & earn it. But this place has Absolutely HORRIBLE customer service. I called multiple times ahead of time to make sure they were open. Finally on the 4th call the girl answered. She said "Sons" I said I was just calling to see if you were open she qui ckly said yes & hung up. So I thought they must be busy! Well, I walked through the door & there wasn't but one person in the drive thru. I was never greeted. Then, I waited at the counter for 10 minutes, while the young girl was doing whatever she was & she continually kept looking & staring at me as if she was trying to figure out what I was doing?! Finally she took my order & she didn't say anything whatsoever aside from my total. Then didn't even say thank you or anything. Then a younger man walked in & she was all smiles & chatty. I think it was a close friend, possibly boyfriend. She gave him polite, immediate, over the top service. She brought my food to the table & might as well have thrown it at me with her nasty attitude! She just dont want to say slammed, or tossed it onto the table but she was careless while placing my food down. Didn't ask if I needed anything else, didn't say anything even when I said thank you. She just walked away. I love the food, I've lived in Wagoner my whole life. Have always enjoyed eating at Sons. But I refuse to go back when they have such rude staff. Nobody wants to deal with a rude person! it wasn't just her having a bad day. I understand people have bad days & you never know what someone's dealing with in their personal lives, but she was kind, polite, smiling & laughing with the young man that she knew. But was an absolute bitch to me. She don't belong in customer service I have worked in customer service & the impression you leave on customers is what keeps them coming. Sad to say I will not be going back. ‍ Other people have told me she wasn't very friendly to them either & apparently they never answer the phone. This place has THE BEST BURGERS in the area. Hands down. It's the kind of little, old fashioned, burger joint that makes you excited to eat there. The chicken strips taste like they are hand breaded. If not they are at least high quality. The fries are great. Nothing extraordinary. Just good, crispy, perfectly seasoned fries. Clearly prefrozen but still good. We can't seem to order anything except the burgers BECAUSE THEY ARE THAT GOOD, but they do have specials (like homemade meatloaf) on different days. And milkshakes too. I've literally eaten here since as long as I can remember, born in '80 so you can do the math. I just went back today after ~15 years. It's still great tasting, simple in a good way, food. I've not had everything on the menu, but I really doubt there's any way to go wrong ordering any of it. Skip McD's, skip Taco Bell, skip Arby's, skip all the other chains and go to Son's. Support a local business owned by a guy who started working there around 1983 and eventually became the owner. read more

My family and I stopped in here for dinner and didn't know what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised! The food was amazing and the burgers were not greasy or under cooked. They were the best burgers we have had in town and the service was great too! The inside of the restaurant is small so on a busy day I would get my food to go. If you're looking for a fancy, modern place this isn't it. Someone said the place had been around since the 50's. I believe it, and it probably hasn't changed much. But if you're looking for great burgers this was some of the best. They're the thin patties with crusty edges, but also nice and juicy. The onion rings were fine, but nothing to write home about.
