UPDATE: The plug I received at Son's (mentioned in my prior review) didn't hold, but only because the tire had other damage and clearly needed to be replaced. I called them and asked if they had a used one (since the other three would soon need replacement and I wanted a complete set), and lo and behold they had one with a good amount of tread left and the exact proper size. Only $40! I got that and an oil change for $80 and the car was ready and out the door the same day at 5:30PM. Yet again, quality service from these dudes! read more

Ive been coming to the Sons since 1998 never had a real problem until late last year; i always buy my parts and they provide the Labor i purchased brake pads for front and back the son took in my vehicle and i waited; once i returned he explained to me that I needed rotors; I ask him why didnt he call me to inform me and not put new brakes on bad rotors; no explanation but when you come back i will give you a 75 credit; well Im back he claims that didnt happened and he never said that; I asked him to pull my last paperwork; he said he couldnt he had thousands of invoices to go thru and refused; he was very rude and arrogant; this is my last time patronizing this business that cant pull up my last transaction because of shabby accounting system; So im paying double for the same job not good to treat a long time customer like this; Im done i drive 30mins for this treatment? Greetings DMV!!!! This is a great place I like supporting local businesses I've been here twice and I am always pleased.

The best place in the Silver spring area. These guys are honest and up front. I bring here all 4 of my cars and they always let you know the price before doing the work. Been there probably 50 times. No pressure or price gouging. It's an honest family owned business. Pros the lead mechanic is very patient and gladly answers all questions you might have even if swamped with work. Other chain places people ignore you if in the middle of work as if you aren't there , sometimes you just have a question and it takes a second to answer. Bottom line is that Sons auto clinic should be the first place on your list because it could save you thousands. On the other hand it makes more sense to support an honest local business rather than give your money to random dealership. read more

If your of Asian / Caucasian decent you might be fine if your black / or any tone of Hispanic I would AVOID!!! I have family who use my 2nd car who like to take it to this shop (cousin broke window got it fixed here just 2 months ago for $400!!) so I went to check it out myself I went in today to ask about a used rim for my bent rim & they literally looked at my tire took the hub cap off put it & said no you don't need one & we don't have your size we can order though & I said ok I'll call you to continue have a good day. Then out of nowhere demanded $5 for "service fee" for basically just asking a question. When I obviously said no when I was trying to leave (vehicle in motion) they ran a jack in my car & said "imma call the police you gon look stupid you gonna have to pay $5" 8 mins later the infamous MCPD was on scene & I explained to the officer why she were called on me & she rolled her eyes like really tho ? 5 mins after they made them lower the car & told me I didn't have to pay anything for asking a question. After the police said that the mechanic demanded a trespassing report be filled out to be spiteful which anyone w any law school knows not to sign papers without legal cousul so I refused. Definitely the worst experience I have ever had at any shop in the country. Imagine goin to your official dealer & asking a price on a newer car & if you need one & they say no but now you have to pay a diagnostic for asking them?? I recommend goin to your dealer or Sams Tires on US 1 right past Prince George's Avenue worth the 20 min drive into PG jus got a near brand new continental tire from them for $35!! some of the used tires here are priced $50++ . Attached is the current condition of a Goodyear purchased from Sons Auto Clinic 2 months ago (with a ding in it already) around the time with the window repair. I went across the street and got a price from the gas station that's been there for over 30 years with the same owner (used to be Shell Gas) to get a price. He said I can't use parts that I bring in. I thought I would save money by buying my own parts. So I go to Son Auto Clinic. He said he would install my part but can't guarantee it. I said fine. The price was about $80 cheaper than the Gas Station so I said ok. Later, the guy at Son's Auto calls me and tells me that it took a long time to take apart a certain bolt so now it will cost $80 more. This is baloney, but what can I do. All they had to do was put a torch to it. It's a simple job really. If I went to the gas station, it would have cost the same plus I get a full warranty since they included the part with the price quote. I think Son's Auto is on the shady side. I've brought my car there a few times, fast turnaround, good customer service, and prices that either beat or match anyone else in the area. They even stayed late so I could pickup my car when I was running late after work. Took my Sonata here for a repair after reading on Yelp. This was an excellent experience. I needed a repair to a part on the driver's side of my car after having the same repair done at the dealership on the passenger side. The price was much cheaper. They did the work while I waited, which may be partly because I arrived at a time that was not busy. When the work was done, they offered me my old part without me asking. That's good and makes me feel confident that I could trust them even if I weren't sure what needed to be done to repair my vehicle. I took the car for a test after the work was done; the problem was gone and car drove well. I'll definitely be returning to Son's for future work. read more

I brought a tire that I had taken off my car to be looked at. They said sure, looked at the tire and said the leak would be $25 to repair or $80 to replace. I said fine I'll take the tire back and bring the whole car in to replace all 4 tires. The guy said ok give me $5 cash now. I asked him why $5 and he said it was to look at the tire. I asked him why there were no signs stating that a $5 fee was required to check out the tire or why they wouldn't tell me that. He said tomorrow I'll make you a sign. He said that he was going to keep the tire unless I paid him for the tire assessment. I had to get $5 so he would release my property. Pretty dishonest and uncomfortable and ILLEGAL. I consider this theft and I wish that I had called the police at the time. Don't do business with them unless you like being robbed. read more

As I have several cars and we drive a lot, they have always done really well by me. Highly recommended to anyone out there. I have been a customer for 15 years and I have always been happy with their service. They always work to keep the cost of repairs down and they stand behind their work. They usually get the work done quickly. They don't have all the diagnostic equipment a dealer has, but they are always the first place I take my cars. Son's is clearly in the business to win long term customers. The surprises I get are almost always how little they are charging me. Seriously. I just got my car back for a problem with the electrical system and they didn't charge me anything.
