Great service, nice looking restaurant. But boring food. The green salsa had good flavor but no heat. The red had no heat and tasted yucky. The refried beans were like paste. Maybe if we weren't from So CA and land of great Mexican food, it would have a better meal. read more

Date night is a big deal to this girl. My kids are my world and I love my time with them, but mom and dad need alone time as well. I'm always on the hunt for new date night food, and being a huge fan of Mexican food we decided to give Sonora Grill a try before heading to a movie at the Junction. Sonora is locally owned and has been open since 2008, so I am slightly ashamed I haven't tried it before now. We hopped in fairly late on a Thursday night and the first thing I noticed was our new Mayor Mike Caldwell having a well-deserved dinner at a table around the corner. If it's good enough for the Mayor it must be pretty good, right? We were promptly greeted by our waitress Jessica, and she ran down the drink and starter menu. Their margarita special was a Sangria margarita that I couldn't resist, and I'm so glad- it was quite possibly the best margarita I have ever had (sorry mom!) and affordable. We ordered the freshly made guacamole and we were brought the complimentary chips and salsa as well. The chips are whole tortillas, crispy and delicious, and the salsas were the best I've had in Utah- no question about it. The roasted Chile salsa had a nice smoky flavor and subtle heat, and the tomatillo salsa was fresh and bright. We also asked for a small taste of the habanero which was too hot for me, but the husband enjoyed it quite a bit. In the meantime our guacamole starter arrived and WOW, it was a whole bowl of the freshest most delicious guacamole, I couldn't stop eating- and I am a guacamole snob. I probably wouldnt order it again unless I had a party of 4 or more, since it was a huge portion and we didnt eat it all, and its not worth the expense if you arent going to finish it. It took me a bit to choose what to order- the Menu had at least 10 items on it I wanted to try, but I settled on Carne Asada Tacos, which the menu promised to be authentic and delicious taco cart style tacos. My carne asada tacos were fairly priced and worth every penny, they were stuffed with high quality meat, and there were three on the plate. I'm not dissing the taco carts, but these were the best carne asada tacos I have ever had. The refried beans were delicious and fresh, and while I wasn't a big fan of the rice it did have a good flavor. My husbands Carnitas almost melted in your mouth and the flavor was absolutely wonderful. The coconut rice that came with his plate was to die for, next time I will absolutely substitute that on my plate. I took a peek at the bar on my way in and out and I was impressed. It had cozy benches, a nice long bar, and a relaxed atmosphere. I could see myself enjoying a drink here with friends. Since I wrote this review for IndieOgden, I have gone back with my kids, husband, and sister; and we had a fabulous meal yet again. The kids loved their food and the service was awesome. We were given more chips than we could eat, salsa was kept full, drinks were well attended to. The food was just as good as the last time I went and the ambience was very nice. read more

The food was really good. Thanks to yelp we got half off our appetizer and we ordered the trio of ceviches which were yummy. Our bartender was mini and she was very friendly and nice. Will definetly be back. read more

I haven't been here for a while but I used to love eating here. I was very disappointed. I got the flautas which were very heavy and dense. The rice was dry and overseasoned. I love their salsa that comes at the beginning of the meal but our fried tortillas (that you break into chips) were very greasy and flexible. My husband got the relleño combo which was okay at best. read more

I went to Sonora yesterday and had one of their holiday specials. It called "Chiles en Nogadas" but because I can't pronounce that... I call it Christmas on a plate. The flavors are amazing the combination of meat and fruit inside covered with a walnut sauce and the fresh pomegranate seeds is amazing I crave it! It seriously is comfort food and it just taste like Christmas night. Who ever came up with it was Genius. read more

Dont let the other reviews fool you. This is very standard americanized Mexican food. Ordered the carnitas tostada and was disappointed. The pork lacked flavor. Service was great tho. read more

First time in my recent memory that I ate every bite of my meal. The food is amazing, and they GET gluten-free. Alert your server to your Celiacs and you will be well cared for. read more

Vegetarians and vegans must eat here! Delicious! Just ask for the vegan menu. Great staff, great atmosphere, great food!

I haven't eaten here in awhile, but as usual, I was licking my plate at the end and wishing I had ordered the 2 other entrees I was torn between. Even though I was stuffed, I couldn't help salivating over the beautiful and decadent plates of food coming out to the table next to me. Great vibe, great smiling, happy people. I love this place! read more

Friendly attentive staff. I ordered the classic burrito with beef. Very large portion and very flavorful.

Best family oriented Mexican restaurant in Ogden hands down. Everything is made from scratch, and the consistency of the dishes is perfect. The made fresh guacamole and the queso are a must try for appetizers, and I highly recommend trying their Rellanos. Oh, and they handle large parties like nobody can! It's ran like a well oiled machine. read more

Went with my wife because of reading the favorable reviews. Seriously some of the worst Mexican food we've ever had. Good chips and salsa though. read more

I went to this place for a family event and while the atmosphere is nice, the food and cocktails are lackluster. I had a serrano margarita and others had mojitos--we all agreed there wasn't an ounce of alcohol in them and they were all rather bland. The food was no different. No an ounce of care went into it's preparation. The mole was bitter and the meat dry. The only highlights were the salsa and guac, but you can get that anywhere. When looking for good mexican food in Ogden, best look elsewhere, but it was a decent place for a large group. read more

Okay fusiony Mexican food. Our one trip was enough for us to know we wanted to look for something more up our alley for Mexican fixes (something more authentic). I appreciate them trying to do something unique with the genre but it all came across a bit too contrived and soulless. It's a bit pricey for what you get but the ambiance is really nice and the cocktails fantastic. If I had to recommend anything, it would be the queso fundido. It's made tableside and has great flavor. read more

Love them!! Consistency with freshness and quality- not your standard Mexican food. It's got twists and surprises all over the place. The only thing is I wish they would keep a seasonal menu that changed more frequently. The I would go way more often. read more

This one is interesting because when Sonora first opened we went and I swore I would never return. Then a couple of neighbors told us that the menu had changed over the course of the last couple of years. So we went again yesterday and it was fantastic. My wife mentioned that the flautas were the best she has ever had, and I had the chili colorado which was great as well. Not often do you see a restaurant be able to do a 180 like these guys have done. read more

I love this place. I've been going here since it opened and have never had poor service or food and I've tried just about everything on the menu. Best item: Carnitas Noritenas. However, they once had a special with mole. It was the best I've ever had. Most people didn't like it because it was too authentic. Ugh. Have a margarita with an extra half oz and enjoy! read more

The menu says they have 3 best in state margaritas and they did not disappoint. Go for the El Hefe margarita. It was yummy. Favorite dish was the Chile Relleno combo. Good mix of chile rellenos and enchiladas. Service was consistent and good as well. Never had an empty water glass. read more

The bartender Mir-I-am was a rockstar (with a cool name)! I had the half order of Flautas and they were awesome and filling! Chips and salsa rock - they're like tostada shells with homemade lime and roasted tomatoes. So good! read more

Best Chile Rellenos I have ever had! Stopped in for a late night dinner just before closing on a long day of travel. The staff was super friendly and the food was delicious. Had the queso fundido as an appetizer and it is an absolute must if you are a lover of cheese. Highly recommend. read more

This place is seriously amazing! Some of the best service I've ever had. I was recovering from oral surgery and our awesome waiter recommended the verde burrito because it was soft. As delicious as it was, it was difficult and painful to eat it. He noticed I wasn't eating it and apologized for recommending something I didn't like, and offered to replace it for free! You don't get service like that anymore! I'll always come here when I'm in Ogden now! Everything looked so yummy and I can't wait to try more things on the menu! Also, I hate black beans, but these were amazing!!! read more

Delicious Mexican food and great service! Chicken flautas and the banana dessert was our favorite. They have a vegetarian and vegan section to their menu, which is cool. I definitely recommend this restaurant. read more

Wait time ....a joke. Music out of control. Extra charges for any incremental chips and Salsa. Who does that? The meal better be good because they are taking lessons from the airlines in offering value. Food was dry. Restrooms filthy. Someone needs to teach them about toilet brush. Or just check them. The meal came. So so food. DEFINITELY NOT worth what the charge read more

The food was great. The margaritas were yummy, just a little small. The portions were large and the vegetarian options were greatly varied. Try the chili Verde! read more

The only good here is the salsa. I can get better Mexican food at Taco Time!

Sonora Grill has great atmosphere and service is excellent. They have gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan options. They have a full bar and some fun drink choices as well. All you can eat chips and salsa, so you will most likely need a to-go box for your dinner! read more

We were very happy with our meals. Chile rellanos and fish tacos were the favorites in our group. Service was amazing. We had a party of 20 people and our food was served so quickly. Wonderful experience all around. read more

Great food for a reasonable price. Nice staff! Real Mexican food. I loved to tortilla chips.

I like the vegetarian/vegan options here in case I'm in the mood. The food is very well done, fresh, and good. The waiters/waitresses I've had have been very kind and attentive. If you are a fast food type of person you may not like it here. They don't put loads of salt on their food compared to fast food, and hence your taste buds -- which are already desensitized -- will say it lacks flavor :) read more

Very meh... Weirdly set up restaurant with very average food, Go to 5 guys, Wing nutz or Iggys right next door instead

Their vegan/vegetarian menu is a LIFE SAVER! One of my favorites and they're open on Sunday!

Sonora is some dang good food. Authentic Mexican that is to die for, and absolutely the best service I've had anywhere. I've never had a glass get past half empty and the staff is always happy to help with whatever they can. Go see Sterling on Saturday nights. She goes way above and beyond to make your meal perfect. Definately try it out, you will not regret it. read more

Way overpriced for what it was worth. Nothing memorable, except the ceviche appetizer my brother got that was tiny, overwhelmed with fruit to mask the scant amount of meat, and as expensive as an entree. read more

Some of the best Mexican food and margaritas I've ever had. It's far from a Mexican dive but on nights they have specials or even musical entertainment it's a noteworthy experience and I haven't come across a dish I didn't love! read more

We had Sonora Grill cater a service event to provide lunch for the volunteers. The staff were courteous and helpful both when ordering and on delivery. The food was excellent, priced well and all 50 volunteers were very pleased with the lunch. As a frequent customer both in the restaurant and for catering, I highly recommend them. read more

The food is good, prices are reasonable. Lots of leftovers to take home. The food has been delicious the times I have gone. Always a fan of flautas and like their salsa. Delicious guac too. read more

Place is very inconsistent not to mention the meal came out and was plated horrible the Chile Verde just had a plop of verde and a little cheese on top wth just rice next to it. Plenty ugly plating for a 15 dollar meal not to mention slightly warm. We were on of three tables in the place we had ordered guacamole for $10 which is usually made table side that is why it is so much for aside of it and they just brought a bowl out. When asked why they did not make it table side they said they dont do that when they are busy. Again only three tables. These place is only worth the price during lunch dinner is a ripoff for the quality of food. One of the worst plating I have seen. Asked for the owner to address it and the waitress stated she was the sister in law and no need to talk to the owner. read more

Sonora doesn't just have the best Mexican food in Ogden, it has some of the best in the state. Everything I have had here was fresh and delicious. Mexican restaurants should have good salsas, and margaritas. Sonora will not let you down. Worth driving to Ogden for. read more

The food was really good. Not greasy and was very flavorful. The chips and salsa was really tasty with a tad of salt added, the red is very smokey and the green is really natural and flavorful. Our main server wasn't very friendly and gave off a feel of annoyance but I'd say that their speciality was the chili releno. The chimichungas actually had tons of tender chicken and not like other places that stuffs it full of cheese. Even though I asked for a little less cheese than they usually put in the chimis and the server told me that it's pre made and that I couldn't have it the way I asked for, the chimis were not over loaded with cheese. read more

Love their lunch specials. Great service, delicious food, good atmosphere, good prices. Perfect lunch spot for business lunches
