I've been here three times. I ordered the family for 4 style meal. The first time everything was great. Service and food were amazing. The second time was horrible. The waitress was bizarre. The food so-so. The management on at the time was clueless and not management material. A waitress fixed our billing problem-- not OUR waitress, and the acting "manager " was lost, so she intervened. This last time, super waitress! Top notch management by manager that was called via telephone by waitress last time. Well, she was there, taking care of business like a pro. But the meal... the meal was past fabulous! All the textures and flavors were on point! The portion size was, even for hungry folks, almost overwhelming! Restaurant was average to above in cleanliness. It is still somewhat eerie to me how good the dinner was. I am afraid to go again in fear that the bar and expectation is now so high, is it actually possible to hit again!? What's the chances? Could the experience actually be that great again? Second visit in less than 30 days, feeling a little guilty I only gave it 3 stars last time. Disregard the stars, everyone has their own opinion on what is 1,2,3,4 and 5 stars. Focus on the content. Had my usual 1/2 chicken, it was literally fall off the bone tender, moist, juicy and smoked perfectly in my opinion. The fries were hot and plentiful while the slaw was fresh and delicious. I also tried some of the fried cheese curds, they were tasty as well, but a little heavy on the breading for my taste. Service is awesome, our server Savannah has been awesome its the 4th of July busy as you would expect. Tea stayed full, order taken quickly, food delivered hot (well fries were warm), bones twisted right out, good bark and ring, taste was very good on everything. Sucks Bay county only has 1. Where it's smoking, you will find a Sonny's. Sonny's is a BBQ chian that originated out of Gainesville, Florida and was established in 1968. There locations everywhere in Florida and other key places. It may be a chain but it serves up serious BBQ. One time I asked a waitress at Sonny's when they start smoking their meat. Her response was there was a pitmaster always at Sonny's even during the middle of the night. Sonny's is serious about BBQ. if you want a taste of all Sonny's provides, go for the Sonny's Sampler that comes with 4 meats and 2 sides with cornbread or garlic bread. I go with the cornbread which is very sweet and my favorite sides are beans and slaw. Sonny's beans are my favorite beans from about anywhere and the slaw is homemade in house. I wish I could rank Sonny's meats in order but I have eaten there enough that they are all consistently good. Sonny's has 5 sauces: original (mild tomato base), sweet (the most versatile sauce I've ever had), sizzlin which is the sweet and spicy, smokin which is the hot variety of the original, and a mustard sauce that you have to ask for. Mustard sauce goes extremely well with the pulled pork. Sonny's does have a variety of sandwiches and if you sign up for the emails, they send you a free sandwich meal for your birthday. Sweet tea is always amazingly sweet and refreshing. A few years ago, Sonny's updated and remodeled several of their locations. The Lynn Haven one is one with a pretty new building but the same BBQ goodness that Sonny's offers. read more

Ordered a hundred dollars worth of takeout and when I brought it home, they forgot to add any BBQ sauce. BBQ, fries, and sweet tea was delicious as always! Wait staff was cordial and prompt. Not sure why they haven't brought back the salad bar, which is a favorite of a lot of people. If Covid is still the reason then that's just plain dumb! There are plenty of other restaurants that have food/salad bars. You can rotate out utensils, and put up hand sanitizer station before you grab your plate. Get that salad bar back! read more

Sonny's BBQ is good for what it is. This isn't your local corner BBQ joint. This is fast, consistent, and good BBQ. You been in one, you have been in them all. I order the dieters plate. Salad bar, protein, and bread. The salad bar is one of the best in town. I prefer their sliced pork and a piece of garlic bread. We've said this before with chain restaurants. Your staff is what makes you come back. This Sonny's on 77 has a great staff. So if you need to get in and out for a lunch break or just not wanting to wait and hang out, stop in and grab a bite. We were happy to see a Sonny's BBQ - many of them have closed. The food was great. My husband had the Sampler platter (of course he did, lol). Ribs, chicken, brisket, and pulled pork - everything was tender, nice smoky flavor, not overcooked. Good selection of sauces. I had the BBQ Cobb salad with pulled chicken. It was huge! Had the 1/2 chicken with brisket and 2 sides. Brisket and chicken was cooked perfectly, the sweet potato was huge and delicious, baked beans were good, with a large portions. The ice tea was huge and filling. My husband said he already wants to go back. Our waitress was very nice, friendly, and accommodating. Very fast service also. The place is nice, clean, and spacious. Went here with hubby for dinner tonight. Once we sat down the AC kicked on high gear. We were freezing. Our food arrived and the cold air blasting caused our food to quickly get cold. The butter on our sweet potatoes wouldnt even melt. We asked our server to see if they could adjust the AC but it just kept blasting. No one there gives a crap. I LOVE SONNY'S BBQ! It's my go to for comfort bbq. I always end up getting the Turkey on garlic bread, and the bbq beans are always a great side choice! They have famous southern sweet tea just like your granny's! I've also had the lean brisket, ribs, pulled pork mmmm good! Always great service! Food always comes fast! I recommend a Saturday evening date night or Sunday dinner for ultimate service and wait time! If you're in a hurry they have awesome take out and curbside service! Tried and true. Sonny's is a staple bc they are solid on service, quality and consistency. These folks have also reinstated their covid precautions and are wearing as well as requiring masks. Yes! Today was their first day reopening dine-in since the COVID-19 outbreak. They handled it very well! Food was hot and came out fast. I felt sorry for our server for having to wear a mask and gloves the whole time! The mask I definitely understand and appreciate, but the gloves grossed me out a bit as I doubt they change them as often as they'd typically wash their hands (@management, please look into this! It may be more sanitary to nix the gloves). I had the redneck egg rolls for an appetizer, but they filled me up since I was the only one eating them, and I probably should have had it for the meal instead! I loved the sauce they gave for dipping...some kind of BBQ ranch I think? The smokin' gun sandwich was so good that I had to eat it all too! The brisket and jalapeño cheddar sausage combo was genius.
