Potato soup with cheese that wasn't melted.
D. R.

The staff is nice, the food, nothing to brag about. I will not get the pimiento cheese BLT again of I should visit. The first time we went the food was good. This time I tried something different, the pimento cheese BLT with potato soup. The bacon was so brittle and overdone, pretty sad. You can see, and hear in the video, just how crunchy the bacon was. I didn't eat it. Didn't sit inside, we had it to go. The potato soup was hot, but the cheese just wasn't melting. Not sire how long it had been sitting out, getting dried out.

Broccoli salad

I've seen them all over and never tried it. Had to wait for a new set of tires and gave it a try. I actually ate there 2 more times over the past week after giving it a try. The broccoli salad is awesome.

Grape salad

Yes, yes, yes! I'd franchise one of these on the west coast if they'd let me! Staff is friendly, free samples. Food is delicious and portions are plentiful. Chicken is so fresh, along with the sides. Free pickle + cookie with your chick meal!

Tried for the first time after driving by for years. We got a "combo" for $9.29. This included a scoop of chicken salad and a side item...no drink. You could get that scoop on bread if you wanted. For the sides, we chose fruit and broccoli salad. The quality of the food was fine. The chicken salad was good, and the broccoli salad was also good. The fruit was a dozen grapes and a couple of strawberries. Luckily, I got the sandwich. The wifey got the solo scoop. When we opened our lids, all I thought was how much profit percentage the restaurant just made off us. The scoop was maybe 5 ounces of chicken salad. I was expecting more for the money. While the food was good, we felt like we did not receive proper value for what we paid. I'll make my own next time. We won't be returning. I'm looking at the menu online, and someone took a photo of the menu screens from inside. The photo is 2 years old. I saw the same thing we bought, PLUS a bowl of soup for $7.99. That price point was much more fairer as now it simply does not equate to what you are receiving. I'm attaching that photo from 2 years ago.

Best Fried Chicken in Panama City or Panama City Beach -- truly!…read more This is THE fried chicken: perfectly seasoned, thickly breaded, explosively crisp! Absolute YUM. But then... the sides... Who serves fried chicken and doesn't offer chicken gravy for the mashed potatoes? I asked, and the reply was: "We have brown and white." Brown and White??? That's a fried‑chicken sin. And the sin deepened when the "mashed potatoes" turned out to be so watery they could practically be served in a cup. I mentioned it to the waitress, who explained, "We use a mix of instant and real potatoes." OH‑kaaay. My response: "Way too much water." Meanwhile, I'm wondering where the butter and cream went. For reference: I took a skinny straw and actually sucked the potatoes through it. That's how thin they were. The vegetables, however, were genuinely delicious -- classic Southern style and well prepared. A surprise hit: the fried hoecakes. Imagine Jiffy sweet corn muffin mix dropped by the scoop full into the fryer. Oddly enough, they were even better dipped into the "brown" gravy (which tasted suspiciously like modified yeast extract). Look, I understand stretching product and using convenience items. But if you're going to cut corners, do it on pre‑slicing the desserts -- not on the core of a Southern plate. My suggestion to the owners: Lean into what you do exceptionally well -- that phenomenal fried chicken. Sell it by the bucket! I'll come buy it! Trim the sprawling buffet, reinvest in real mashed potatoes with butter and cream, make real gravies, and offer a rotating blue‑plate menu. Do fewer things excellently instead of trying to be an "everything" restaurant and missing the mark on the basics. The chicken is worth the trip. The sides could be, too, with a little love.

But once I took my first bite, I was pretty satisfied. I had the country-fried steak, along with mash & gravy, and rice & gravy. It was good, and for under $20, I really can't complain. The place is huge, very spacious with both indoor and water-side outdoor seating.... something I'm not used to seeing in Los Angeles. It almost felt like a studio set at Universal. Definitely a lot of Bayou character! Service staff was young and friendly, without any of the pretentious I'm used to in La. The folks are real, and I appreciate that. Because of the limited menu, I'd advise you call ahead and make sure it's something you like, cuz if it's not, you're SOL. I like it. I'll definitely be back.

I quite often call in and get an order to go as I'm usually by myself. I've been eating here since I moved to Lynn Haven back in 2006. Their menu has something for everyone from low carb salads to all different types of fried food. I ordered their 2 piece Whitefish grilled and blackened and ordered a grilled Shrimp salad with their Homer's favorite Buttermilk dressing. This a great place for families to go to. This particular restaurant was once an old house That's been converted. Do, it has a nice homey feel to it. Very busy in the daytime here. It's a little more quiet in the evenings.

Arrived home and found that they gave us each 1 piece of whitefish instead of the 2 piece dinners that I ordered. My fault for not checking before leaving but at least they only charged us for the 1 piece dinners. We usually order our whitefish fried but this time the wife got grilled and I got blackened. Her fish was undercooked and her mac and cheese side was very, very soupy. Not creamy but watery. My blackened fish was also a bit too translucent for my liking and I microwaved it for 30 seconds before finishing it. I had turnip greens and coleslaw for my sides. Turnip greens were ok but the coleslaw had hard, ground up cabbage cores in it. I'm hoping that today was a one-off experience.

I couldn't wait until dinner was over and after a dining experience like this of course it took forever to get my check. This is not remotely what I expected after seeing the parking lot packed upon arriving - it's a festival atmosphere so bellying up to the bar for a few beers is probably the best option but I'd definitely pass on dinner here, maybe a few appetizers but never the oysters...
