Overall our experience was good, service was friendly and prices acceptable. There is kind of a Cracker Barrel feel to the place, which is something we like. We each had the catfish dinner, the star of which is the catfish. And it was fried to perfection. The dinner comes with two whole perfectly fried catfish, two sides, and bread. We started with the fried mushrooms. Golden brown and hot with a creamy sauce. My sides included the baked apples which were perfectly sweet with cinnamon. I also had the "fried green T'maters" for 2.49 "extree". They are worth the up charge! My husband had the French fries and coleslaw. The steak fries were crisp outside and creamy inside. We returned the slaw because it seemed off but they quickly exchanged it. Overall it was a good visit and we highly recommend it.

We came from out of town so had no clue what to expect. We were sat down almost instantly (5 in our party). Our waitress came to our table soon after and we order drinks and an appetizer. The kids meals were perfect sized and greatly priced. The adult entrees were so much food but so delicious. We ordered a blackberry and peach cobbler piece of pie for us to share. The peach was amazing the blackberry was a bit over cooked. Absolutely amazing!

AMAZING!!! Visited here while on vacay at PCB. We love little hole in the wall places!! For starters we had: fried green tomatoes, gizzards, fried pickles and fried mushrooms. It fed all 6 of us and still had a bunch left to take home! For lunch the orders consisted of: Fried chicken, chicken & dumplins, smoked sausage, red beans & rice, green beans, Mac & cheese, mashed taters w/ gravy, corn on cob, baked tater, cheese grits and a house salad. The food came out fresh and right off the stove/grill. Soooo dang good!! All the starters were amazing and so is the Homer sauce! The salad was very basic, needs cheese added to it. The lunch dinners arrived perfect and hot! The chicken &!dumplings portion was huge with lots of chicken!! Mac & cheese was so cheesy and creamy!! Red beans & rice lack seasoning but once added salt/pepper it's was fine. Mashed potatoes were creamy and gravy was good. Everything truly was good! Dessert-we was full but can't leave without dessert!! We had the blackberry cobbler and chunky chocolate charmer and strawberry shortcake!! Large portions and so dang yummy!! All of it!! Portions are perfect, prices are excellent, service was perfect!! Would absolutely come here again when we visit and recommend everyone to try!

I haven't seen or been to a PoFolks in probably 15 years. So when traveling in the area, I gave it a shot. This visit was on a Sunday afternoon, the parking lot was packed to overflowing and only a couple tables were left open when I walked in. The "after church" crowd was in full force and that's a good sign! I'm calling my visit a 3 star, teetering on a 4. We were promptly seated and our server, wasn't far behind asking for drink orders. I ordered the "regular" burger, adding bacon and cheese, and it was pretty tasty. The fries were pretty good as well. Now for the teetering part....after the initial friendly interaction with our server, placing our order-n-such, we only saw her twice (cursory check and billing) and I was hoping to get a darn drink refill. This was well after the crowd had cleared out. Secondly, there are so many tables jammed in to this place it's tricky getting around when it's super busy. Lastly, the silverware is getting old and rusty....time to replace. I probably would go back to try something else on the really large menu

Best Fried Chicken in Panama City or Panama City Beach -- truly!…read more This is THE fried chicken: perfectly seasoned, thickly breaded, explosively crisp! Absolute YUM. But then... the sides... Who serves fried chicken and doesn't offer chicken gravy for the mashed potatoes? I asked, and the reply was: "We have brown and white." Brown and White??? That's a fried‑chicken sin. And the sin deepened when the "mashed potatoes" turned out to be so watery they could practically be served in a cup. I mentioned it to the waitress, who explained, "We use a mix of instant and real potatoes." OH‑kaaay. My response: "Way too much water." Meanwhile, I'm wondering where the butter and cream went. For reference: I took a skinny straw and actually sucked the potatoes through it. That's how thin they were. The vegetables, however, were genuinely delicious -- classic Southern style and well prepared. A surprise hit: the fried hoecakes. Imagine Jiffy sweet corn muffin mix dropped by the scoop full into the fryer. Oddly enough, they were even better dipped into the "brown" gravy (which tasted suspiciously like modified yeast extract). Look, I understand stretching product and using convenience items. But if you're going to cut corners, do it on pre‑slicing the desserts -- not on the core of a Southern plate. My suggestion to the owners: Lean into what you do exceptionally well -- that phenomenal fried chicken. Sell it by the bucket! I'll come buy it! Trim the sprawling buffet, reinvest in real mashed potatoes with butter and cream, make real gravies, and offer a rotating blue‑plate menu. Do fewer things excellently instead of trying to be an "everything" restaurant and missing the mark on the basics. The chicken is worth the trip. The sides could be, too, with a little love.

But once I took my first bite, I was pretty satisfied. I had the country-fried steak, along with mash & gravy, and rice & gravy. It was good, and for under $20, I really can't complain. The place is huge, very spacious with both indoor and water-side outdoor seating.... something I'm not used to seeing in Los Angeles. It almost felt like a studio set at Universal. Definitely a lot of Bayou character! Service staff was young and friendly, without any of the pretentious I'm used to in La. The folks are real, and I appreciate that. Because of the limited menu, I'd advise you call ahead and make sure it's something you like, cuz if it's not, you're SOL. I like it. I'll definitely be back.

I ordered a vegetable plate and my guy ordered the smothered pork chops. There were several DoorDash orders and other guests ahead of us, so there was quite a wait for our food. But we understood and waited patiently. We enjoyed listening to the repeat customers and their casual banter. When our food arrived, I was pleasantly pleased with my order. The greens and black eyed peas were seasoned perfectly. The okra was hot and fried well. The Mac and cheese wasn't my favorite. My guy remarked that his sides were lukewarm at best as he prefers his food to be very hot when it arrives. I would think this is because the sides are already prepared and waiting and the meats and fried items are cooked to order. We also ordered a slice of coconut cake, which was homemade, moist and delicious. During this trip, the daughter of the owner stated that she was in the hospital recovering but would be released soon. We pray for her speedy recovery! Maybe this accounted for some of the mishaps encountered. But overall, I enjoyed my food and the ambiance and would visit again if I'm in the area. Happy eating!
