Sonny's today was great! I'm stuck at home just like every body else due to Covid19 so I ordered from Ubereats. The delivery was fast and the food was very good. I'm very grateful that they were open and delivering on Labor Day. On July 4 they were not offering delivery, we had to order from Willie Jewels and it was no where as good as the sliced pork we had today. Sonny's Cooked to perfection and on site! The baked beans were slow cooked with just the right amount of spices. The Cole slaw was very good not too sweet. I hope you too enjoy your visit to Sonny's read more

Any time you are near the smell just pulls you in like an intoxicating BBQ dream. Your mouth salivates and next thing you know you are in the drive through. Trying to contain your excitement the air in your balloon is quickly drained as the voice over the intercom says $435 please pull around. What??? I'm exaggerating of course. But $16 for a lunch special lunch portion lunch price baby back ribs is beyond ridiculous. You pay it and move on thinking it will be worth it for some BBQ goodness. But the disappointment continues when you are reminded that the food is just meh. A 20 spot for meh for only one person and then it hits you...oh yeah that's why I haven't been here for so long. Sonny's isn't horrible tasting but it's not living up to the price. If this were a $6-10 joint the rating might level out a little. But for quantity, quality and taste sonny is over priced and in this foodies opinion there are better BBQ places around town. read more

Carolina pulled pork bbq sandwich was the best BBQ sandwich I have ever had . Big portions. Plenty of pulled pork on sandwich. Fried okra delicious. Servers very personable. Restaurant inside very cool atmosphere and very clean! read more

We ate there two nights in a row on our vacation. The first night I had a full slab of ribs which were excellent. My wife had the pulled pork which was good. The salad bar is wonderful and not expensive. The next night I had lean brisket and my wife had the ribs. Both were excellent. Servers both night were terrific. Also, when we came into the restaurant and left, the staff was very welcoming and friendly. read more

Good food and good service at this location.... We go about twice a month and they are very consistent. My favorite is the brisket on a bun with cole slaw and the sweet bbq sauce. read more

Really good food. I bought the build your family meal and got all the meats that they had on it. It's a good deal it fed our family twice. Would buy from here again. read more

My boyfriend and I were craving a unhealthy salad covered in egg and ranch dressing. So we both got the salad bar. Came back with my salad and started eating at the table, and then my boyfriend returns saying he found a very large black hair in the ranch dressing. finding a hair is enough for me to never return to this location or any other. I have ate at sonnys for years with my family and now its ruined forever. I'm still uneasy in my stomach as I write this. read more

Anyone know where to get baby back ribs? Cause this place is selling jerky as ribs. Never been more disappointed than tonight's dinner. Way overcooked and dried out is an understatement. read more

Sonny's is a bit of an institution for Florida. We always come here when we visit. The BBQ is good but not great. I had the pulled port and sliced beef. Beef was a bit on the dry side. I enjoy the BBQ sauces. They have super sweet tea. Very reasonable prices for BBQ. I am a KC BBQ guy so tough act to follow. The corn nuggets and fried okra are now appetizers and not additional cost sides. Still have to get them though. I will of course return. read more

My first time at Sonny's came a week after I had BBQ in countryside Georgia. I wasn't expecting it to be as "authentic" as the hole-in-the-wall good-eats place in GA... and I was right. When I think BBQ, I think meat on meat on meat moistened with sauce. Only moistened because every BBQ joint has a variety of sauces on the table for you to add yourself. And of course the southern sides. Well, Sonny's meets the options for meats and sides, but I don't know about the portion of the meat. I chose the pulled pork with a side of corn on the cob and baked beans. (Typical southern dinner, yum!) Everything tasted pretty good. I was disappointed in the sauces at the table, though. Four choices, but I only liked one since 3 of the 4 were spicy. Meh. I also expected more quantity of pork, not that I could have eaten it all, but still. The corn on the cob was double the size I expected, though. And it came with butter to slather on there. Double yum. And no complaints about the beans. Good as expected. Service was all right. They seemed pretty busy, and our server was a little rushed from table to table. She did her job decent enough. read more

I like Sonny's I like their barbecue chicken or usually get the all you can eat. Seems like a good deal except this time I tried the ribs the sweet and smoky ones. It looks like they change their prices again it's now 1465 for sweet and smoky ribs with two sides so I ordered them they got to the table after about 20 minutes they look great but there was only five on my plate that's right I said five I asked the waitress when the rest of the rack was coming and she said they sell the ribs now by weight. After eating my five medium size ribs I decided to upgrade to the all-you-can-eat where I got the rest of the rack of ribs that I was waiting for that was 1695 or something like that ,overall the ribs were okay the sides are good ,service is great but menu prices, getting out of hand. read more

Doesn't look like much from the outside. The inside looks really nice must've been recently remodeled. Food was very good , service was good too. The big problem was all the TVs in the dining area were locked into News. Not very pleasant for dining experience especially when all TVs are locked into the same news network, Fox. Ruined the atmosphere. Too bad, we wii not be coming back( read more

A group of three of us stopped for dinner tonight for the first time since moving into this area. The restaurant is in absolutely beautiful repair and clean as an I've ever been in. Our waitress was very friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. The food was all delicious with good size portions. The food came out reasonably fast but my only complaint was the temperature of the food. All of our food was warm at best. If it had been hot I would have given 5 stars. Please Sonnys try to serve your food hotter. I would love to be a regular but I'm not the guy that sends food back to the kitchen. read more

Food great as Sunny's always is... but.... the absolute shining moment of our visit was our bartender.. Sadly I don't remember her name. A ton of hustle with great service!!She knew the menu in and out and was extremely friendly!! read more

I haven't been inside, but I can speak for the deliciousness of the food! We called our order in and went to pick up by drive through. Unfortunately for us, the car ahead of us was getting full orders because it was taking ridiculously long. It might've been a better idea to just walk inside. I picked an entree order for ~$14. I was happy to see the sizeable portion. The brisket was good beef, and it came with two sides. I picked broccoli and the sweet potato. It's amazing what they did to that sweet potato! I would not expect that rich taste from a takeout/fastfood type of place like this. I'm a spice fanatic, so I was a little disappointed at the lack of hot sauce. They had plenty, and gave us plenty, of BBQ sauces. read more

Our server Steve, was amazing. I don't write many reviews but felt it was necessary tonight. He was attentive and the most friendly server I have ever had. Go see him and have a great meal! read more

Best BBQ in Tampa Bay! I had the pulled chicken BBQ salad which is my favorite. They drizzle their sweet BBQ sauce on it which is awesome. We had our favorite waitress, Aleshia serving us so this made our visit even more perfect. This is a "must visit" every time we visit Florida. read more

We went late to Sonny's BBQ a couple of nights ago. They were about to close so we just got take out. The lady at the take out bar was very nice and gave us great advice on a nearby beach. The food was excellent, even for the late hour and good size portions. Thanks for the friendly service and info about the local beach! read more

It's pretty good tasting bar b que! The salad bar is consistently fresh and full of tasty rid bits. Smoked chicken salad portions are standard not skimpy. Wait staff is prompt & friendly. It's at least a month meal. Coldest beer in frosty mugs. read more

The fried pickles are delicious! The food is always on point and the service at this location is always great. My dad loves coming here!

These 4 stars are 90% for the corn nuggets. I have always been a fan of these and you cannot get anything like them, anywhere else. the other 10% is for the smoked turkey. I like alternatives for chicken and red meat, and the turkey always tastes good. The sauces are very tasty as well--not sure you couldn't find others just as good... I used to be a huge fan but the product just doesn't seem as good as it used to be, except for the corn nuggets. I'm sorry I feel this way, because I would love to visit them more, if things improved. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I worked all day went to pick up food for my family and they missed an entire meal of the order. I then sat there with 3 of the 4 meals and waited over 30 minutes for the order so the rest of the food was cold by the time the order they missed was ready. And the assistant manager was no help other than "we're busy". My fiancé was a manager for years at the Sonnys in Tampa and would've had that meal put to the front of the line. Absolutely ridiculous. read more

My wife loves Sonny's, I do not care as much for them to be honest, this location has some ups and downs, they can be fast with their service some days and be slow others. We normally get the salad bar/ soup combo which is unlimited deal that is no longer featured on the menu however they still do offer it, last time we went a waiter who was new charged us separately for all of our items, no big deal however it took them 15 minutes to fix it. Sonny's food is good if you love BBQ. This location has a salad bar however does not offer quite as much as others, for instance thousand island dressing they do not have. I will give them 4 stars for a chain restaurant they have decent food and if they charge you right you will have a quick/ enjoyable experience. read more

Yeah I like to drop in here for some Ribs when I'm craving them. This location is always clean and vey friendly Always good and as a matter a fact I could really go for some right about now... read more

This was one of the worst BBQ meals I've ever had. Apparently Sonny's expects you to eat pulled pork and ribs without any sauce. The ribs had a tiny bit of sauce but the pulled pork had none. I couldn't even finish it. It was dry, even a little bit of sauce would have made it edible. I had ordered on line for carry out. Options included a choice of sauce but when we got back to the hotel there was no sauce included. How can you sell BBQ without sauce? We were very disappointed in this place. We will probably not eat there again. read more

Loved the smoked wings, have been getting them forca few years. Don't know what happened but the smoked wings are too spicy now. Also the ranch dressing is not as good as it was previously. My wife would always get extra so she had enough for both the wings and fries, now it taste like a typical ranch dressing from a supermarket. I guess we'll have to take Sonny's out of our rotation of go to take out. read more

The side dishes here are much better than the meats, which isn't much of a recommendation for a BBQ joint. The macaroni and cheese, baked beans, and green beans are excellent, and the corn bread is very moist, but the pork, beef, and chicken were all dry and bland. There are a number of sauces on the table you can add but BBQ should get its flavor from slow-cooking, not a splash of extra sauce poured on just before eating. Our waitress was very friendly and kept our plates filled without us having to ask for more (we were here for an all-you-can-eat promotion), and the dining room is clean and bright, but if you have a strong yen for BBQ, it won't be satisfied here. read more

Sonny's BBQ - Barbeque Near Me - Largo, Florida

Let me start by saying that I frequent sonnys a couple of times a mont and am usually satisfied with the service and quality of the food. This time we choose to get curbside pickup, wow, what a huge mistake. We live over 5 miles from the restaurant but that was ok, first we get our order and the bag is tied up so we can't check it's contents. When we get home we realize that we are missing a sweet potato for my wife's order, the brisket was very dry and the pulled pork was also dry. Don't know what's going on at this restaurant, but I will not order takeout from them again! read more

Usually its pretty good here , the salad bar is probably the best thing on the menu. Had their "all you can eat ribs" and was not impressed. The were fatty and tough way way inferior to their baby back ribs which are quite good. The sides are good though and the staff are friendly and welcoming. read more

Absolutely delicious. Went through the drive-through a little wait but they cook it fresh. Staff was friendly and efficient.

This place is pretty decent, alot of the meats are only smoked not cooked in BBQ sauce. The ribs come basted in sauce but only lightly. There are four BBQ sauces provided, sweet, regular, sweet-hot, and Smokin (Spicy, yeah its my favorite). I particularly like this aspect, as I can have some dosed up to be spicy and others more on the mild side. This also allows my daughter to share without being subjected to the heat of that awesome spicy.. The food comes out fast and is relatively low priced, with a few all you can eat specials. The sides are all quite well made, as mentioned in a prior review. They also have an decent salad bar that is well kept, but not as diverse as say sweet tomatoes. I always leave stuffed, which is a great value at $10-12. read more

Not sure if there is new mgmt here but since the renovation we have not been overly impressed with the food and service. Had the sampler last night and the brisket was from a couple of days ago. Ribs and pork were good. Didn't eat the chicken but it looked ok. Never saw an actual drink menus and entrees came out at different times. Beans were good. I hope the wood they have on display in the front entry of the restaurant isn't what they use for smoking. read more

I went to the original Sonny's BBQ and the food was amazing. So I was super happy when I came across this location. But I was super let down. Food was cold when it arrived. Pulled pork was dry and our waitress was super rude. Would not recommend this location at all. read more

Family Feast is the bomb! Says it feeds 4. We are 4 and eat the feast for days!!! Plenty of food for fair price.

Giving four stars because our waitress was very sweet and attentive. The service was great but the food I would give three stars. Pulled chicken was extremely dry and was not pleasant to eat. Had to douse in BBQ sauce to make edible. I have been to many Sonny's before and never encountered this problem. I have to say that the redneck egg rolls were on point. read more

My first and last time coming here. The meat didnt taste like it was even bbq'd, And there portion sizes are Small

Stopped by tonite. Only reason was 4 stars was they are remodelling. The pork three way was very tasty.

Had the opportunity to attend a ladies day out luncheon at Sonny's. The two servers who waited on us were proficient, patient and kind. There were 12 of us so this was a pleasant plus and it added to positive a experience. The two stars is because the food was once again mediocre at best. The portions were generous but the the ribs were dry and tasteless. The restaurant only has margarine which is very unhealthy as well as disgusting to eat (especially on fresh baked potatoes). Sour cream in a tube is very unappealing. No complaints about the baked beans. I don't understand the compliments on the salad bar as it definitely did not appear to be fresh. I won't keep this establishment on my restaurant rotation. The facility needs a remodel -- think its not been done since it opened?!? What happened to you Sonny's? read more
