I love a good BBQ. This was NOT it. They only have chopped brisket but I tried anyway. Paid over $40 for two servings. Very fatty, very dry. Not a good quality meat. Needless to say I will NEVER return here. I don't understand how people can give great reviews of this place. It is a food truck. They put out excellent BBQ here. Their meats have a nice smoke flavor and still remain juicy. They offer sauce-on or on the side for all of their meats. Their sides are large enough for 2 to share and still have some leftover. Take-out only, they take cash and also cash app. Unfortunately, I have to minus one star as the bun for my pulled pork sandwich was crumbly and almost stale, plus the young man that took my order could not manage to say "hello," "thank you," or even a "goodbye." I'm not picky when it comes to BBQ. I've actually never had BBQ I disliked until I ate here. I hate writing bad reviews but also don't want people to waste their money at this place. I ordered the full rack of ribs. The meat was the driest and hardest of any ribs I've ever had. It was like old, overcooked meat. It also didn't taste very good. The sauce was SOUR, not tangy, but disgustingly sour, it tasted almost like throw up. Disgustingly bad tasting sauce. It's a food truck off the side of the road on Ulmerton, to the left as you head west. We decided to pop in and go for it. I wasn't hungry but my wonderful wife got a ribs and pulled pork combo with beans and coleslaw, with hot bbq sauce. Ok, I picked it for her but my instincts were correct. The lady who took our money was friendly and the food came up quickly. My wife reported it was delicious, especially with the spicy sauce. Was in the mood for some bbq, read some reviews and decided c & j; So I ordered the rib and sausage combo and some brisket, 1/2 lb (the counter lady said chopped beef) and it came to $32 and change, then she ask sauce on the side or sauce on. and I (mistakenly) said sauce on (big mistake); Get my bag of food and go home; Get home and unpacked the food and open up the top plate and there were 3 slices of bread ;-) underneath was the chopped beef (brisket) doused in a tangy sauce :-( I mean are you mad at me??? Way too much sauce and the beef was dry and stringy like they had leftover brisket from a day or 2 ago chopped it up and doused with bbq sauce (the bbq restaurant cover up, they can't tell this isn't fresh smh) and the 2nd plate was worse, the sausage and ribs were literally in a pool of sauce :-( the ribs definitely weren't fresh at all (tough hard stringy) not good at all (like before 1 or 2 days old) like were reheated over and over and got dryed out. but the sausage was alright (after I let all the sauce drip off) I won't be going back. read more

This barbeque place was awesome! Our food was made very quickly and the woman who took our order was very kind. Make sure you have cash on you because that is all that they take. By the time my boyfriend and I got the food into our apartment, the bottom piece of bread on our pork sandwiches was all soggy (which could be a product of the heat it was sitting in from our ride). The barbeque sauce was very tasty and the mac and cheese was delicious. Portion sizes for the sides are large for two people. We got 3 different sides and barely finished half of each. You've gotta have a good eye to catch this place! It's right in front of a baptist church and as soon as you get out of the car you can smell the food from the smoker. They've been around for 22 years and as soon as you take a bite of some of their delicious barbecue you'll understand why. The food wasn't showy or elaborate (just like the truck itself)- I felt like I was at a guest at a block party where C & J's BBQ was the neighborhood man every family knew to grab BBQ from. SMELL THE LOVE The large smoker sits outside the simple food truck. Once you park, your nose gets attacked by juicy Meat aromas. The combos seem like the best deal; often two kinds of BBQ accompanied with two sides, sauce, and white Bread. The Rib Meat slid off the bone while the Sausage had a nice, crisp skin with soft and juicy insides. Normally Chicken is... well... just normal to me however it was my favorite of the Meats. It really reflected the good parts of the smoky flavor combined with excellent seasoning. EASY TO OVERLOOK THIS AREA The truck sits at the corner of a church's property, but you can see it well from the main road. Cars just park anywhere on the grass around the truck. Mmmm mmmm mmmm! This is some GOOD BBQ. We got the family platter. The whole chicken could have been a bit more moist, but it had such good flavor that I hardly minded. The ribs had a good combo of chew plus fall off the bone. The smoke was evident in both. Some people I've read complained about the Mac n Cheese - maybe they're expecting the creamy kind that comes from making a roux and adding milk... or maybe they just like their boxed Kraft or Annie's. This is made with real melted cheese in it and I loved it. There's room in my life for both "melt-y" Mac as well as this more old school kind. Collards were great as were the baked beans that they also make from scratch. I didn't take a picture because we were eager to chow down, but they are GENEROUS with their portions. It's me (and I don't eat like a bird) and my two guys and we ate till full and STILL had leftovers. Gotta love that as it's not common these days.
