They had the nerve to reheat the fries when I asked for no seasoning on them. Then my server never came back to check until I was finished with my sandwich. Well she had the right one today , because I was still going to ask for fresh fries! To make it worse they weren't even busy, just nonchalant! Obviously she didn't want a tip today or very little! Came in for dinner with a friend and her kid. The host was very nice and friendly. Our waiter, Michael, was awesome and took care of us. I hadn't been to Sonny's in a while and was craving the corn nuggets, so we ordered them as an appetizer, and they were incredible as always. I called today & asked the young lady if you offer AYCE today and she said she didn't know but would check. She placed me on hold for about 3 mins or so and said no. I then asked her if you had AYCE for different days of the week. She didn't thinks so but placed me back on hold to check. She was gone probably less than 30 secs and then said no. She acted like she didn't like my questions. If you're gonna answer the phone, be prepared for standard questions. I then called 3 other Sonny's and inquired about the AYCE and they all said yes & that's daily which tells me that the Mandarin Sonny's isn't reliable for valid answers and someone needs training. Providing false info to customers isn't good business practice and because of this, I'll score your store accordingly. Maybe next time when someone calls in with questions, you'll provide accurate responses. read more

The food isn't good and is never hot. We've been here twice now, the first time had to send the ribs back because they were 95% fat. This time we got pulled sandwiches and the meat wasn't pulled all the way so there were clumps of meat and once again a lot of fat. I sent my sandwhich back and asked for a turkey instead. The turkey sandwhich came out and wasn't hot and honestly I'm not convinced they actually use a pit bbq/smoker back in the kitchen. Usually bbq turkey has quite thick slices and there's some variation in size of the slices but this turkey looked straight from the deli counter. We had lost our appetites at this point. We ate at sonny's on San Jose the other night. Service was good. Food was good. The restaurant was horribly cold and we ended up boxing our food and going home. My first time getting Sonny's. Good bbq, not exceptional but good. The issue here was the wait. I ordered online to pickup. Said it would take 10 minutes. I got there 15 minutes after ordering and waited an additional 15 minutes there. They were not busy, but I assume they are short staffed. I was patient and friendly, and I heard them talking about my order. When it was ready, I asked if I could get a refund and the gentleman obliged. 30 minutes late to get food is just insane. Ordered Door dash last night as this was the only barbecue restaraunt open and the reviews looked pretty good. We ordered 2 3 meat combos and everything except for the corn nuggets was disgusting. Turkey, Brisket,Chicken, and wings absolutely no flavor and dry. Fries soggy . A piece of the chicken didnt even look edible so it wast eaten. Even the garlic bread was inedible and didn't taste right. We just ended up throwing everything away. I am praying I do not get sick from the little bit I did eat. For Chain Store BBQ the food is good. The pulled and sliced pork is great. Smoked wings are very good. And St Louis ribs are delicious. For side items I am partial to the baked beans and coke slaw. They have the best sweet tea. And the wait staff is very attentive and efficient. Been eating here for many years and plan to continue. I also have also used them to do catering for 3 months events. I love Sonny's. Weirdly this is only the second time I've been inside one!! I think we threw them off their game a bit because we seated ourselves. But no one was there to greet us so...My niece went to find out if we order at the counter or if they come to us and we were told normally we wait to be seated...they didn't seem happy that we seated ourselves. Our waitress was phenomenal she was the nicest kid and I'm so glad that we got her as our waitress. The food was pretty good, as usual. The sauces were a bit disappointing- all sweet, no heat.
