Usually I am not a huge fan of fast-food places. I can definitely eat there and appreciate the convenience, but lately with the price of lunch at your average fast-food joint going way over $7, the said convenience loses it's value... 'specially when in most cases it's the same old thing over and over again... Enter Sonic. I am aware that Sonic Drive-Ins been around, but after seeing their commercials on TV for what seems like my whole life, I can say that I get to enjoy it whenever I feel like... Yes, it is still a fast-food place, but it's different - you don't get to go in - either eat in your car or seat outside (though how does this work once it gets cold I am not sure)... the menu offers much more than your typical fast food burger... The Coney Island Foot Long is awesome, the same with bacon cheeseburger toaster.... and don't get me started on the shakes and smoothies... I don't usually eat fast food, but the other day we needed a quick bite and thought we would give Sonic a try. I'd say "it is what it is". We were both pretty happy with our food, which was a selction of dogs of the mini sort. The Mini dogs were actually a great size and pretty enjoyable, the onion rings were really good as were the jalapeno poppers. My only complaint was that the quick snack was more like a quick meal as we were both not hungry when dinner time rolled around.....I guess that sort of our fault for eating too many short dogs. read more

Not bad at all. I had the NY hot dog it was good, it would have been the best if it was a hebrew big dog. The tater tots and onion rings are really good. They have good food for fast food. The service was good too. You can only dine outside, in your car or go to the drive thru. I will probably go back and try it again when I am in town. read more

So, I went to the same old sonic, the one I have been to hundreds of times before. The order taker was rude.... just rude, he could not have shown any less appreciation, like my having just shown up at the drive thru was enought to bother him. As always I asked for "easy ice", their own term for a little bit of ice in my cup. Not only was the darn cup full of ice with very little sode, but now on the receipt there is an ADDITIONAL CHARGE for easy ice. Wth is this. Excellent food but EVERYTIME I order anything without cheese and they repeat it back, they always think I want a cheeseburger. I tell them again that I don't want cheese on it, so they correct it and the receipt then says No Cheese... Then the burger ends up having cheese on it. Every single time. So I have to send it back and get it made again. What is the appeal of cheese they have where they don't seem to understand that I don't want cheese on it? Wow. What a disappointment. I saw an add for their new chicken "tenders" and boy what I in for a letdown. To call them "tenders" was a gross overstatement. For one, they we shorter than my pinky, barely qualifying for "nugget" status. Next, calling then "tender" when they were basically chicken jerky was sad indeed. Excited because a Sonic opened near me. Gave it a couple of tries just to make sure I had a few different experiences. Horrible. Long waits. Wrong orders. Weak portions and had to send back two hotdogs for being under cooked (one frozen in middle). The shakes are good but have had much better (and larger) at local ice cream shops. This food was EVERYTHING. My friend and I were looking for places to eat after visiting the mall, and we were blown away. The food came out quick and hot, our delivery guy was fast and courteous when he brought our food out to us, and the food had us gushing, especially the burgers. Easy ten out of ten! Sonic seems to be an homage to the 50s drive-up style restaurants where you order from you car, the food is brought out to you, and you eat in your car. Sonic offers this type of dining but you can also go through the drive-through or order at the front counter and sit on their patio. Let me just start off by saying that I am obsessed with their drinks. They offer many different types: smoothies, lime-ades, frozen lime-ades, coffee drinks, shakes, etc. Their drinks are what brings me here every time. My favorite: Cranberry Limeade with fresh limes. There is something for everyone on the drink menu. The food is standard fast food: burgers, fries, chicken sandwiches. They do have a few items that are semi- unique to the fast food world: cheese stakes, Conney dogs with chili, onion rings, and tater tots. Watch out for the onion rings- they are sweet (tastes almost like funnel cake) and uber- heavy. I can't comment too much on the rest of the food because normally I just order off the drink menu. This particular one is new and seems to still have a few kinks to work out. Mainly the drive-through line. It doesn't quite flow like the system normally should. It is probably just growing pains and I am sure that it will get in the groove eventually. The kids probably really get a kick out of Sonic- especially if the food server delivers the food on roller skates. I can also see it being a good casual, after-a-movie, date spot. When we went to this Sonic it took them three (yes 3!) attempts to get our order right! It was nothing fancy or unusual, and tasted fine when it arrived, but we nearly lost the will to live in the process and vowed not to go back. read more

Bad experience through drive thru. Cashier misheard me ordering and another burger was ordered by accident. Not a big deal; I drove up again and explained I had been charged for an extra burger. Cashier became super defensive and kept asking "did I not read it back to you? Why didn't you say anything then?" Well sorry, it sounded right when you speed read it back to me. Manager offered to refund me the $8 extra I was charged and took back the extra burger. However, my bank statement clearly shows NO REFUND and I didn't even get to keep the burger either. Can you give no stars? My husband's family and I stopped here to grab a quick bite - his uncle pressed the button after we ordered and waited ... and waited... and waited. The girl that brought our food said "they aren't taking anymore orders so they can "catch up." ...it's 4pm on a Thursday and there are 3 cars waiting... She brought our food and no drinks - when we asked for drinks, she looked like a deer in headlights. She brought the drinks but "didn't make them so didn't know what they were." This was my first time at Sonic, and the experience was not bad at all. The bacon cheeseburger was good, but not great. It was inoffensive, which I gather is the effect they are shooting for. I've never sat in a drive thru line as long as I have tonight ever in my life, I could have gone to a sit down restaurant and gotten food faster. This is my second time at this particular Sonic. The first was just to order 2 shakes & the wait was ridiculously long ! Also - the girl who took our order at the drive-thru was not only difficult to understand but also spoke so quickly we had no idea what she was trying to say ! I like the food at Sonic but this location always over charges and never applies the Corporate marketing special prices to your bill. Always check your receipt. It is always inflated which causes a hassle to get a refund. read more

Their menu states "Real Ice Cream" but their shakes are made from soft serve. Misleading and false advertising. The service was adequate and food fair. I travel the country for work and see closed Sonic's all over the place. It's no wonder as this one can only get 1 out of every 3 orders correct. I went their for the first time, and was extremely disappointed, The concept of the drive thru is different and nice while the weather is nice. The food on the other hand was a VERY BIG DISAPPOINTMENT. Went with my husband and ordered on the platform waited for the food at one of the tables, when brought out to us a short time later, everything was cold. Nothing worse then a cold burger and taste terrible, ordered a shake which looks like it is homemade, was watery and disguisting. Out of all the fast food places I have to say this was one of the worst experiences of terrible food I have had it a long time. Never again for me. GROSS. Food quality is a step above other fast food places. But you pay for it in speed average time to drive thru with two cars in front of you is 15-20 minutes, so you're better off parking and ordering but even that will be a 10 minute wait for food. Aside from slow service and frequent errors on orders (forgetting sauces that are supposed to be included or automatically giving you tots even if you ask for fries), its not bad for what it is. As long as you remember that it is fast food. Drink selection great but don't look too hard for healthy options on the menu they aren't there. read more

Avoid buying anything with ice cream in it at this Sonic. About half of the time the ice cream is lumpy and chewy. The manager and employees are well aware that this is a problem. They don't warn you. They just serve it that way and if you complain they offer you a free one the next time you visit. read more
