Decided to grab a good ole American Cheeseburger after work today. After pulling into the mobile pick-up parking spot; I placed my order via phone (LEAVING NO POSSIBLE TIME FOR COLD FOOD). after placing the order I IMMEDIATELY checked-in to the parking spot. 20min goes by in an EMPTY parking lot. I go the drive thru... "hey to save you a few steps I'm coming through the drive thru". I get my food and park in the Sonic parking lot to eat. both burgers are Luke warm. I go back through the drive thru and ask If I could just get 1 burger made fresh. The Lady took my food and proceeded to explain that EVERYTHING she does is Fresh. and I don't understand how time works. I tried to use the app and it gave me an error message. So after 15 minutes of playing with the app I decided to go through the drive through. I placed the exact same order and paid with cash. I was charged twice and on top of that the food was wrong. I explained it at the window with no avail. I tried contacting the company and never received a refund on either. The car hop was quick - less than a 2 minute wait (I beat those who pulled up to drive thru at same time). I LOVE the twisted pretzel but it wasn't fresh and was EXTREMELY greasy!! The bag it was in NAD the brown bag all my food was in was saturated with the butter - hence its deliciousness!! I asked for no cheese but got it anyway. We've been meaning to hit a Sonic for years, and now that there is one in Westminster - and with the recent commercials for their Banana Pudding Shakes - we figured now was the time. We have gone twice in fairly quick succession, once last Saturday at lunch time and they were quite busy and once this week. The food Saturday was hot and overall quite tasty, my wife LOVED her cheeseburger and commented on how fresh it obviously was. She also loved that they have tots. The milkshakes did not disappoint, although she felt they should have cut the banana pieces up more than they did so she didn't get huge chunks of banana in it. My Chicago Dog was very tasty, but the bun itself was completely drenched halfway down and thus basically fell apart as soon as I picked it up. I'm not a competitive eater, I don't want my hot dog bun dunked in water before eating it (ok, it wasn't quite that bad, but definitely sopping wet). It also took about 20 minutes from the time we pulled up into one of the carports and ordered until our food came out. I joked with my wife that for a place named 'Sonic', they were definitely on the slower side of fast food. We decided to go back to try a couple more things and went there on a Thursday late afternoon but before dinnertime, thus they were less busy. Big mistake. I think I know now why our food before was so fresh, because they were pumping stuff out at top speed from being so busy. This meal came out much faster of course, but it was clear the stuff had been sitting around under heat lamps. My wife's chicken sandwich was limp and the bun almost stale, certainly a far cry from the burger she got before. My "Crave" double cheeseburger was good, no complaints, but the fries that came with it were room temperature, limp, and flavorless. I had about 4 of them and threw the rest in the trash, they were just absolutely the least flavorful and most disappointing fries I've ever had anywhere. If McDonald's and Chik-Fil-A fries are at the top tier of the fast food spectrum, these are definitely the bottom dwellers pulling up the rear. I can not recommend against their fries enough; maybe it was again because they were slow so they had been sitting around, but I couldn't have been more disappointed. The Oreo Cheesecake milkshakes were decently good, a bit on the sweet side for our tastes, but if you're a big Oreo fan they'll scratch that itch. I'm glad we finally tried Sonic, but I really don't see that they're anything more than a bog-standard, middle of the road fast food burger joint... with fries that they may as well stop serving altogether they're so disagreeable. We'll probably go back one more time for the rubber match and see what's what, but I don't think it'll be anytime soon. read more

Place was great when it opened a few years ago. The last two times I was here the service has just been terrible. Just extremely rude and have no care in the world. I believe her name was Karen last time I was in the drive thru and all I was trying to order was a slushy. When I asked about the menu she said it's right there in front of you. I decided to drive off because at that point who knows what they would do to my order. I agree with some of the reviewers that the service is not very fast. Tots are usually not as warm as I like them. I am very happy to have one in Westminster but I could improve. The Drive-thru menu seems to be an abbreviated one. You can't see all the drink options until after you order and turn the corner to the pickup window. I do love the burgers. The The App is not intuitive​ or easy to use and can cause problems if you use it to order ahead. Unlike Chi-fil-a, they do not seem to have your order ready when you arrive. So happy Sonic came into Westminster. This sonic has a unique eat inside option being that the building used to be a KFC. Been a couple of times already (opening day of course) and love the deals that are presented. Get the Sonic app and when you connect to their stahl screen, in the drive thru, or inside you can pay with the app. Its real easy to use their app and you will rack up sonic treats. The curbside classic cheeseburger deal is a total steal for $2.99. The cheeseburger is a nice size with being loaded with fresh veggies and a really tasty patty. I was shocked! Their onion rings are really good also..which comes with the curbside classic. Tater Tots are some of the best around if you're a tot connoisseur. Their hot dog with chili is seriously like you've just been brought back to Coney Island. Washed a meal down with a chocolate milk shake and had to ditch the straw. That milkshake is soooo thick that you won't be able to use the straw. Sonic was on it and gave me a spoon to go with it. Not sure what I want to try next on their menu? I wish I could give this place less than 1 star. Let's start with the absolute worst drive through service. It genuinely took 5 minutes to order a cheeseburger because the guy kept getting it completely and utterly wrong and had to start over. 6 TIMES. We ordered a cheeseburger, a chicken sandwich, fries and a shake. The shake tasted good but it was borderline cement. Solid 2.4/5 The chicken sandwich was mediocre at best. Very small and chewy meat and the standard toppings were pretty bad too. I've had better frozen chicken sandwiches. Overall 2/5 Now it's time for the burger. Oh the burger... This pile is legitimately the worst burger I've ever had in my life. Borderline tasteless, the cheese was really weird and kinda gross, the other toppings were just awful too. It made me sick. Within 20 minutes of not being able to finish half of it because of how bad it was, I felt very ill. I can't even give it a low enough rating. I can't get my life back from this experience so I won't waste any more time thinking about it. Absolutely do not under any circumstances eat at this or ANY Sonic restaurant. McDonalds absolutely puts this place to shame. And for less money too. Oh. And the fries tasted like hot cardboard with salt. One final note, I made a Yelp account so I could write this. Subsonic. Extremely slow service though the food runner was very nice. Walk up speakers made for an underwater conversation. Food runner might have card swiper or cash for walk-ups so it does not take two trips after a fifteen minute wait. Fries cold and not so tasty. New slingers have promise but might benefit from premium cheese and topping offerings. read more

Horrible experience!! I ordered my kids two Oreo milkshakes, they came back Reese's with whipped cream on top. My kids are allergic to peanut butter!! I almost had a panic attack. There was one in Hanover but we never had a good experience at that one so we had some expectations and this Sonic went above and beyond! Hubby and I visited sonic in westminister md on 12.4.20. When we got our food, the chili dog was cold and the onion rings were burnt. First visit we entered an there was no one at the counter. But at least 10 people could be seen in the kitchen fooling around. The girl who finally came to take our order could barely understand us, and vice versa. The onion rings were burnt, and the mozzarella sticks dry and hard. Called next day and was offered replacements. Went last night, half our order was wrong, and it took 10 minutes or more for them to give us our food again.
