This location is notoriously slow, but today was a new level of poor customer service. I waited 20 minutes for a single pretzel twist. There was only 1 car in front of me. At least five minutes of my wait was literally me at the drive thru window just waiting on a pretzel, watching all of the cars behind me give up and drive away. I also learned that the car in front of me gave up and drove off too, after paying. Keep in mind, there was only 1 car parked by the carhop stations, so definitely not busy. I got out of my car and barely opened the restaurant door to ask if they forgot about me, but the manager yelled at me. On 11/11 at your tarentum, pa location I odered a corn dog and a drink in your drive in lane -and was 100% completely forgotten about. I honked my horn to try to get anyone's attention -but when that didn't work I drove around to the speaker and asked if I had been forgotten -and was met with NO APOLOGY. They said I would need to wait for the car ahead of me to get their food. Your establishment brings food outside to customers all of time -why would it be so difficult to get me my order? The price on the drive through menu is less than ring up. When questioned the girl got all offended and said she didn't like the way I was talking to her. That is illegal to post one price and charge higher. She said she would get her manager, manager never came to speak with me. I waited 10 minutes just to get to the speaker to order. All I wanted was 'a small drink' but I was stuck in line. I told the associate in the speaker that all I wanted was a small drink but did not want to wait 10 minutes as there were multiple cars in front of me! So I said I'm leaving as soon as I can get out of line. While waiting, I see that they are 'serving the cars in front of me ' IN LINE!!! As one of the only ones in our area we just had to stop. We've been seeing the commercials for years. They have a drive thru or you can pull up to one of their digital menus and order. It's pretty cool - old school. Very tight though. The girl that brought our food could barely fit between our car and the menu. Basic menu - burgers, hot dogs, cheese steaks, and an awesome selection of milkshakes!!!! Came here for lunch, thinking it'd be a fun way to safely eat out during a pandemic. Luke warm food took a half hour to arrive, and was just in a regular to go bag like you'd get at any fast food place -- no trays or anything to help while eating in the car. And most critically, the employees refused to wear their face masks, which were dangling uselessly around their necks. It'd be a more pleasant, fresher, and safer eating experience just driving through a McDonalds and eat in the parking lot. read more

Let me start with saying, if you like hot dogs boiled in your grandmas ash tray water, this is the perfect place. I would maybe call it a twice boiled hot dog. Customer service wasn't great to begin with either. After the stomach turning hot dog, I decided to try the tots with my side of cheese. The drive thru is often a long wait, but definitely a better option than the pull in spots for ordering. I've tried the pull in spots repeatedly. Several times, no one ever even responds. It's embarrassing how much I really do love Sonic. Maybe it's nostalgia? I first went to a sonic some time ago when I was living in the Midwest. I was a slave for that pebble ice and those cherry-limeades. (Pro-Tip you can buy the ice. Expert tip - Bring some booze to throw in that limeade *if you aren't driving that is). Ah, reminds me of my youth... cruising down the strip in Omaha Nebraska in the passenger seat drinking a vodka and cherry-limeade and chomping on that pebble ice when I ran out of liquid... to be young and reckless again... I made the trek out to this location because the one in Gibsonia closed. the staff was nice, friendly, and helpful. It's a surprise to see if you gave me that perfect maraschino cherry or that slice of lime in the bottom. Even if you don't, the next time, I may get two. It's all perfection and I crave you. I used the outside car port to order. The entire menu was easy to read. The touchscreen and pay system were easy. I came for a quick snack. My order came out in about 5 minutes. The carhop asked if I needed anything and had already but condiments in the bag. The food was ok. Normal fast food. I would come back again. read more

Today (like an hour ago) I took my family to the Sonic Drive Thru at the Gallaria at Pittsburgh Mills. What a mistake! It's one I won't make again. Issues started when we first pulled in. Not only were the menu boards mounted too high to see from a standard sedan, but the awnings didn't cover them properly. As it was raining, I had to get out of the car to wipe the menu just to read them (defeating the idea of going through a drive-in to begin with). Then, as I was ordering, I attempted THREE time to order an additional sandwich, but the employee with the headset didn't understand. I finally gave up and cut my order short. When food finally arrived (after what seemed like forever) we realized that our order was short two items. I had to make contact TWICE and wait almost 15 minutes before they corrected their mistake. All for food that was nowhere near worth the price! Never again! read more

I have heard about Sonic for years and even see their commercials, but there were none in the Buffalo area so I was excited to try this location. It is a fun concept to pull up as you would have in old school drive throughs and have the individual menu and order button. The down side is that if the driver can read the menu, the passenger had difficulty and vice versa. The menu is typical fast food (burgers, dogs, chicken) but I did enjoy that there were a variety of hot dog options. They serve tater tots instead of french friens. I ordered the chili cheese tots and they were fantastic. My favorite part of the meal was the milkshake. Apparently they are doing a summer special with about 20 different shake flavors. I tried the peanut butter and jelly shake and it was amazing. A perfect combination of both flavors and pieces of actual strawberries. That alone was worth the trip. It was a fun experience and the food was decent for fast food. I wouldn't make a special trip, but if I'm up at Pittsburgh Mills again, I'd visit again. read more

T. O. T. S. Need I say more? Ok, will add a little more. This location was closed for a few months renovating. They're open with a full staff. Alot of students who can skate work here. Highly recommend the breakfast burrito with tots. Tot's are in the burrito! Hot dogs are a good meal deal also. Sonic has happy hour drinks and occasionally has the holiday drink specials. Although they don't compare to the drive-in restaurants from the 60's, it is still a fun treat for the kids. You can order and pay on the menu station right in front of you. Might I recommend signing up for their mobile texts? They let you know what their specials are or the happy hour item of the day is. read more

I pull up to this sonic after attending a concert in Pittsburgh. My passengers and I are all starving and just looking for a snack to eat on our drive home. After deciding what we wanted, I pressed the red button to alert we are ready to order. We than proceeded to wait a good 15 minutes before wondering if we should just leave. Finally after another 5 minutes pass an employee asks for our order. Half the things we tried to order were conveniently out of stock. All we wanted were some chick tenders and some dang tots!!!!!!! I really really really want to give this sonic a good review! i truly do! But i cannot, for the most basic of reasons. Poor customer service. Wife and i were heading home form a fun weekend in Pittsburgh, and as i was driving out 28 she told me she was very dry and would like something cold to drink. So i got off at the Mills and headed to the sonic. When we pulled in, there were only a few cars and it looked pretty quiet. I asked if she wanted to go trough the drive-thru and drink on the way home, or some other option. She wanted to park the car and sit on their patio. Fine. I parked the car and we walked over to the patio. NO ONE was there. The Employee happened to walk out and showed us where to order. So we ordered. 2 Milkshakes. Thats it. 2 simple milkshakes. Then, a family showed up as well as another couple. The family went back and forth trying to decide what they wanted and then finally ordered, followed by the other couple. Then several more groups showed up. They ordered. Then we all just sat. We watched as car after car went through the drive through, received their order and drove away. Then cars would poull in, order their food, and 5 minutes later their food was being delivered to their car. Yet we all sat. After 20 minutes, the employee came out with the food and drinks for the family that had ordered after us! Then, about 5 minutes later, the employee came out with the food and drink that had been ordered after THEM! At that point my wife tried to ask about our 2 lowly sahkes and the employee wouldnt even listen she just said " it' will be coming, we are doing our best" So, it's understandable that things happen during rushes. My complaint is that the rush occurred AFTER we had ordered. How long does it take to make 2 friggin shakes? So, after nearly 30 minutes, our 2 small shakes finally arrived. Considering the wait and way we were treated, i am not sure i will ever return there. Very poor service. read more

I ate at the Sonic Drive-In at Pittsburgh Mills on Saturday afternoon. I was so excited ... Until my food arrived. My order was wrong - not one item wrong; the entire contents of the bag was wrong despite having my receipt stapled to the bag. I then pushed the button again, waited, told them, and waited for my order again. When she brought out the second bag, I thought I could now enjoy my lunch. Wrong. My order was still wrong! This time it was my bag of food but there was nothing on my hamburger. Push the button again, wait, wait, move my car back to look for a bell hop, wait, wait... Finally hear the voice in the box and hear they'll send condiments out. By the time they arrived, my burger was cold. (the meat was already overcooked and hard). You'd think my Sonic experience would be over but I "enjoyed" an upset stomach the rest of the day. I will never eat here again. read more

Good food. This is the first Sonic in the Pittsburgh area. It is a carhop meaning you eat in your car or on the patio when the weather is nice. They offer breakfast, burgers, salads, wraps, hot dogs, fruit smoothies, floats, milkshakes, malts, ice cream and sundaes. The food is good and fast. My only complaint is that evertime we go they mess up our order but, they are always quick to fix it. read more
