(1/5) First time trying Sonic, and it was disappointing. I ordered what I believe was a Triple Sonic Smasher combo with fries and a sparkling berry citrus drink. It took about 15 minutes just to place my order and another 35+ minutes to get my food. During that time, I watched multiple drive-thru customers get served and leave while stall customers continued waiting. When my food arrived, it was cold. The fries were hard, the burger was bland, and the drink had very little flavor. I also saw customers leave because the wait was so long. To the manager: please hire more staff, improve training, or better support your employees. Something clearly isn't working. For a $13 meal, this experience wasn't worth the wait, and I don't plan on returning. read more

Came here for the first time in years over the weekend. Pulled into a drive up order spot, made my order, paid the cost. Proceeded to wait 35 minutes for four sonic mixers. While I waited, I took notice of the other 3 cars waiting in the car hop spots that were there before me and I took the time to review Yelp reviews. I'm not surprised by the multiple 1 star reviews. On the way home tonight, my wife asks me to stop at Sonic. Whip the thing around, head into Savage to get some Sonic mixers. It's 8:50 PM. There's zero cars in the car hops and one car in front of us at the drive thru speaker, waiting to place their order. I set the timer on my iPhone after a considerable wait time and the guy in front of me still hasn't had his order taken. Check Apple Maps to see the hours of this Sonic. Open till 10 PM. Start to call the phone number for the restaurant, literally keeps ringing. Car in front of me finally gives and pulls off. We pull our car around and see a different car at the window being passed an ice cream cone. Wow!!' No answer to the phone and zero help at the drive thru order. We left shaking our head. Keep it up Sonic, and your business will be gone before you know it. To the general manager or franchisee or owner, it's time to clean house and get some better trained employees and people who care. With the temperature 81°, I asked my wife if she wanted to go for a drive in the convertible and stop at sonic drive-in for food. The first mishap was they came out and said they were out of onion rings, and asked if we would like to substitute something else? After about 20 minutes wait, I noticed a bunch of the people that had arrived after us were getting their food but we hadn't. I also noticed that our a little sign had stopped showing progress. I pressed the magic red button again, to ask if they had forgotten about us and they said our order would be out soon. I don't know what size the onion rings were going to be, but the fries substitute we got was really small, but tasty. The burgers were great, although there was no markings to indicate which one had the barbecue sauce for my wife. Luckily she started on the right one. The worst was that instead of a strawberry shake they brought my wife a banana extra creamy. We got two coupons for our trouble, but I don't think will be going back to use them. read more

Saturday night at 7pm. Drive up and thought it was closed. None of the lights outside were on, but there were cars in the drive thru so they were open! By the time we got to the window we were the only ones in line. Waited 10mins at least for our food at the window. We ordered 2 hot dogs, a cheeseburger, small fry, and a small Tator tots. Cheeseburger was bland, and I clearly got the last of the earlier batch's fries. They were cold and I literally got 1/3 of the portion of fries I'd assume I should've gotten. Went to drive away and realized we didn't get ketchup. Backed up, sat at the window and no one saw us as they all vanished. Decided it wasn't worth the wait and I probably didn't need ketchup for the 7 fries I was given. Won't be back. read more

My wife and I tried the strawberry and hot fudge shakes. We were very disappointed. Strawberry shake didn't have enough strawberry flavor. It was ice milk with a puree'd strawberry stirred into it. It should have actually had big chunks of strawberry in it. The hot fudge only had a small squirt of hot fudge only on the top - no fudge on the bottom. I haven't been to this sonic very much, probably 8ish times, but out of the 8 I haven't had very great experiences. I usually order two customizable drinks for me and my sister, and may I add that the price is not worth it. Everytime, we have had to wait in line for more than 15 minutes. The experience that had me leaving a review is the very slow service (waiting in line for 10 minutes with one car in front of us just for a drink) and the fact that once we got our drinks they were horrible. We had asked for lime; however, i believe there was more lime than there was soda. The only reason I give two stars is on the off chance that they do make the drinks up to standards. read more

None of the employees were wearing masks and the guy who took my payment used the same gloved hands he took my payment card with (and presumably everyone's payment before me) to squeeze a lime into my limeade. Sonic is a hit or miss. I go though because it's so easy that we can just pull up, and have the dog in the back of the car with us while we wait. The cheeseburgers for fast food are pretty good. I loved the new Garlic Butter Bacon Burger, and the fried Oreo a la mode. The fried Oreos did disappoint at first because we got fried chili cheese bites instead of the Oreos, and I went to dip it in the ice cream... It was disgusting, but it was probably just a mistake. I didn't have a spoon either for the ice cream, so we had to ask over the speaker for someone to correct this. I've ordered a toasted breakfast sandwich here before too, and it wasn't fresh at all. I really like their breakfast burritos, and that the breakfast is served all day which is nice as long as it is fresh. You can't go wrong with the ice cream here though! read more

Tonight I wanted to get their coney dog special, so even though I know there are some service issues at this location, I drove over to Savage. I figured it might take a little time, as I saw they were busy. I pulled into their handicapped spot, as I have a handicapped tag, and can't walk very far. I submitted my order through their app, and it would not let me check in where my car was parked (which booth spot). So I rang their red button to explain, and they couldn't hear me through their speaker, so the guy comes out to find out what I was saying. I told him, and he said he would take care of my order. 30 minutes later...I still don't have my food. He finally comes out and says I forgot about you. Plus, he told me I never checked in. I told him that is why i talked to him in the first place. Enough...I am not coming back for awhile. Service is so bad at this Sonic, it is just too sad for words. Yuck! Iowa sucked and so does Sonic. It rained for the whole state and was capped off by another wretched culinary abortion served luke warm on Texas Toast. I know, this location says MN. Technically the Sonic we went to was at a truck stop in Iowa, but the state is so unimportant that no one wants to write about it, so I had to pick one close in proximity...that, and I thought the name Savage for the town was pretty bitchin'! Why is Sonic at every gas exit and rest stop on I-35? I am saying it first, right here right now: "Sonic is the Dunkin' Donuts of the Midwest." Much like the myth that DD has fantastic coffee (which they don't Boston), Sonic too has people in the Plains states fooled. We ordered through the app when visiting for the first time and our order was pretty big (~$40 worth of food). We parked in the stall, checked in on the app and in about 5 minutes a very nice employee came out with our order. He was very courteous and our order was correct. The chicken tenders were hot & juicy, the strawberry slushie was the best I've had anywhere, boneless bbq wings were good and fries tasted like ACTUAL potatoes (not grainy and full of other extras). Worst trip ive taken here. I dont live nearby a sonic, so when my boyfriend and i come up to the metro area we like to stop at this sonic for a good lunch. we have been here 3 times. not a single time, has our order been done correctly. First time, no sauce, not a big deal just asked for more. delicious food. second time, no pretzel stick with cheese, wrong burgers- i asked for 2 cheese burgers and got two double cheeseburgers. this third time today we had run into the same issue as always- they cant hear you no matter how loud you are yelling. we ordered the food correctly after about 8 minutes of correcting the person taking our order. everything on screen was exactly what we wanted. not even 2 minutes pass before they bring out "our food" which was maybe half the order we paid for and extra things like soda (not ordered) and fries (not ordered). we had said to the guy this isn't everything we ordered. he said he would be back and returned with a few extra things for our order but still not everything. we caught him bringing food out to another car and stopped him and told him what in our order we were still missing and what was wrong. we werent given a receipt. he went back inside after being told what was missing and seemed confident about what the situation was. he never came back outside, we waited for 30 minutes before pressing the button and explaining AGAIN. they said one second and we waited another 10 minutes before calling the store. a manager came out and had fixed the whole issue. the problem with this sonic is sadly there is no good staff and we get left with people that dont want to do their job, or dont care. dont waste your time here unless you like getting ripped off! :) read more

I have been to sonics in many states. I usually get the toaster sandwiches and shakes sometimes. This is the only sonic that I have ever received subpar food from and trust me I've eaten at over 20. The toaster sandwich I ordered did not come with toasted bread. The bread was soggy. It also took a while and the tots were almost cold. Never again!!! The staff mostly kids working on a Friday night. They seem to have no lead directing them. Just go to another sonic because that was disappointing. read more

I finally tried out Sonic after years of people telling me it was the best thing since sliced bread. It has been years since I have been to a drive in type restaurant (Since the old A&W closed in Newport), but this one was sub par. First off, you drive into your stall and the only scenery you can look at is either the building wall, or a privacy fence... Not exactly great ambiance. The food was OK, but not great by any means. Their famous slushy drinks had more cavity inducing sugar flavor than expected, and I found myself wanting a water after. So, if you are going out to get greasy food, there are many better options than Sonic. Furthermore, none of them will involve you or your kids spilling food on your car upholstery... read more

MY DRINK TASTED LIKE BLEACH! you never want to turn to your significant other, after driving 20 miles to take her to SONIC for her first time, and ask... "does my drink taste like cleaning product!? " In fact... IT DID!!! When i brought this issue up to the manager on duty she didn't even seem phased. And when i asked for a refund she managed to bring me out a dollar less then what my drink cost.. They are literally poisoning customers and stealing from us. We placed an order through their app for two meals consisting of two burgers, two tots, and two drinks and pulled into one of their stalls. After a reasonable amount of time, the screen said that Lee was on the way out with our order. That's when our Sonic experience took a turn for the worse. Ten minutes later, we still had not received our food and checked in with them via their intercom system. We were told they got slammed and our food would be the next order to come out. A few minutes later, it did come out, but it was ice cold (likely had been sitting inside for the time span between the screen saying it was on its way out and actual delivery). We jumped back on the intercom explaining that the order would need to be re-made due to it being too cold to eat. The intercom worker apologized and said they'd get a new order out as quickly as possible. It seems as if they re-entered the order and we were placed in the back of the queue since it took a very long time for our corrected order to come out. The 'corrected' order was missing bacon on one of the burgers and contained one fry instead of two tots. The employee quickly resolved that situation, and the food was good once we got what we ordered. I've attached a photo of our receipt and the initial order was at 12:49 pm. We finally received the correct order at 1:34 pm. This is a wildly unacceptable amount of time to dedicate to receiving 'fast' food. Slammed or not, when an order is messed up, that person's re-make order should jump to the front of the queue to get corrected ASAP since they've already waited a long time for their initial order! I cannot see myself returning to Sonic in the future due to these inefficiencies nor can I recommend anyone else choosing Sonic given the plethora of other choices out there. read more
