I get nervous sometimes when craving for something then glance at the reviews of others experiences at establishments. But this time around, the $7 big meal deal was too good to pass up and decided to take that risk. I placed an online order and arrived maybe 20 minutes later - Sonic Cheeseburger, small chicken bites and groovy fries + drink. Upon arriving, there were 2 other cars parked waiting for their orders. It wasn't busy at this time of the day, with plenty of parking stalls. The check-in process was simple enough, but after one patron received their order and took off, I was starting to question whether I did everything correctly. Maybe 5-7 minutes later the worker came out with my order. Initially, she handed me a big drink (which I didn't order) - she realized it was for the other patron and quickly apologized. At that point, I made sure my order was all in the bag, sauces and all. After getting home, I started with the chicken bites. Pretty good! Nothing terribly special but good. Cheeseburger was the typical Sonic cheeseburger. Nothing outstanding but good. Same goes for their fries. Overall for the price point, it is very good deal especially when competing with the other food chains. It had been a LONG time since we last visited Sonic because we had some unpleasant experiences at this location in the past. However, it was hot, we were close by, I wanted a sipper, & I thought maybe we could try it again. Our order-- Plain cheeseburger Fries Strawberry Lemonade with real fruit Onion Rings Citrus Berry Refresher The kiddo liked her burger & fries just fine. The mister's Strawberry Lemonade was quite tasty. I apparently chose very wrong. While the onion rings were very crunchy, they didn't have much flavor & some were not well coated. They desperately needed a dipper. The Refresher was just SO bland--not fruity, no tea taste, no flavor. My family and I were out in Roseville yesterday and decided to stop into Sonic Drive-In on the way home to grab some drinks. My daughter also mentioned that some locations offered a limited edition Dr. Pepper NeeDoh - unfortunately this location did not have them. We ordered a Shark Bite, Blue Raspberry Coconut Slush, Red, White and Blue Slushie Float and Chili Cheese Tater Tots. The Red, White and Blue Slushie Float was so good - the vanilla soft serve ice cream mixed with the slushie flavors was perfect for the hot day. Everything came out quickly and staff were pretty friendly. The ordering machine wasn't taking debit card payment so staff had to take my card inside which wasn't ideal, but they said the machines outside were having issues. We ate in our car, but there were tables available outside as well. Overall, I have always been a fan of Sonic - their Chili Cheese Coney with Tater Totes is my go-to usually plus their Ocean Water! I am quite sad. I have more bad than good experiences at this location. I only came back because my friend drove me here last week to get a milkshake and it was amazing. So I went back today to get one again, but it tasted SOUR super tangy like spoiled milk. I wanted to make sure I wasn't crazy so I had my boyfriend try it and he said it did taste sour. Which is disappointing and disgusting. They need to throw out expired milk or clean the machines. I had to throw my milkshake in the trash after a couple sips and I was really sad about it. This has to be the worst Sonic's in America. Or at least top 5. Come on corporate, come take this location over. Someone needs to help this location. I tried, I tried a second time to give them another chance. Shame on me for trying. My burger was cold. My nuggets were lukewarm. The fries (ordered tots) were half burnt. My Dr Pepper was flat. YUM! I used the app to order while sitting in the stall. In the app I put that I was there in the stall number 5 waiting. After 15 minutes I had to push the call button where they informed me it was ready and on the way out. Few minutes later they show up and said they thought it was for door dash so they had the annoying stickers on it that when removed creates a mess. They brought our food and drinks and forgot my Dr Pepper. I noticed I got fries and not tots, so I let him know, he came back a couple minutes later without my Dr Pepper to tell me they're OUT OF TOTS! Isn't this sonics? This is one of two reasons myself and my family like sonics. Just strange. It's not the employees fault for being poorly trained and not having adequate product to serve the customer, but it is corporates fault not to step in on such a low rated Sonics. So when our food came out, we were told that we can pay in cash or card. Not knowing if she had a point of payment reader with her which I did not see one with her, we paid in exact cash. I was having a rough night and chose Sonic because it's been awhile since I last went and they are open late. I got the sour shamrock shake, onion rings, and the footlong quarter pound coney which costed about $17. We really wanted to try the new smash burger so we decided to give Sonic a try. This was my first time there. My husband and sons got the triple smash and I got the double. The burger was tasty but there was some issues. There isn't enough cheese. And they need to sauce the whole bun not just one spot. It also needed some lettuce and tomato. And considering even if you go through the drive thru they make you park, the burger should be up to standard. I give the burger as is 7/10, could be a 10 though. For sides we got groovy fries, onions rings, mozzarella sticks and fried pickles. The fries were 10/10, onion rings 9/10, mozz sticks 7/10 and fried pickles 8/10. It took us 15 min to drive home. The pickles didn't make the drive and were soggy by the time we got home. However I did eat some before we left the parking lot and while crispy and hot they were very good. Their ranch sauce is actually pretty good too. We tried a corn dog and dare I say it's better than Wienerschnitzel? 9/10. I was really hungry though and scarfed that down on the way home lol. sonic is a solid fast food contender and out does a lot of their competition. The meal prices are fair. The sides however are overpriced imo. The service was good. I don't appreciate being asked to park while going through a drive-thru though, and hate that this is the new standard. I normally go for just the drinks during the summer but I was interested in the white queso sauce they had so we pulled up to the drive thru, & the car in front of us takes about 7 min to order something. We pull forward & we have issues with the lady on drive thru not listening to the point of us yelling our order out loud. After ordering we pull up to the window & get our drinks, & then our bag but no receipt. I check the bag that had small fry & queso sauce just to end up being ripped off for not even half full queso cup. I was shocked that they gave us like 1 gram of queso sauce. I went to Sonic for the first time. The new restaurant is 2 miles from my home. The location is 5837 ANTELOPE ROAD SACRAMENTO, CA 95843. I ordered a Hot Dog combo. After 28 minutes, I finally complained that I did not receive my order. I was then late for an appointment. After some 30 minutes, I got the hot dog and the sauces/topping were all over the container and not on the hot dog. Needless to say I was strongly disappointed and was frustrated I left a tip. It has been a VERY long time since I've eaten the food that "Sonic Drive-In" offers. And considering it's been nearly 15 whopping years (think back to the 2007 days when the iPhone debuted, Obama was elected in as the 44th President, and Beyoncé's "Irreplaceable" was the biggest hit song). Well a lot has happened since then. Jump to the present in 2022 and I figure why not give this place a try again. I regret to inform you that I was not very impressed at all with my experience. And I am focusing on their location in Roseville (off of Pleasant Grove Blvd and just south of Highway 65). I arrived at roughly 5:50pm during the late afternoon of Monday 7/18/2022. The layout of all Sonic locations is that you pull your vehicle into their ordering station (there are at least 20 of these at this location), push a red button, and within a minute the voice coming out of the intercom will take your order. If you don't wish dining at their ordering station, they do have a dedicated drive-thru. However, there is no indoor dining here. This place has that nostalgia of fast food establishments from years past with the layout but this whole set up (at least for me) was a hot mess. First of all, it took awhile for them to take my order while the voice coming out of the machine was hard to understand and static. There was a menu displaying their combos as well as appetizers, breakfast options, and desserts. Additionally, there are several trash bins (that were severely overflowing) and a unisex restroom (that was in need of a serious cleaning). I finally narrowed down what I wanted to order which was their "SONIC Cheeseburger Combo" priced at around $9.00 + tax. This included a single patty complete with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, mayonnaise, and ketchup. And of course a side of fries and a medium sized drink. Luckily it only took about 5 minutes until I received my food. Now the only downfall which is all too common at many Sonic locations is that if you decide on eating there, it's either eating inside your personal vehicle or standing outside of your vehicle. No tables of any kind. When my food was brought to me, my burger and fries came in a brown paper bag with 3 peppermint candies. Overall, the flavor of the burger is just "meh" as this tasted much like a mediocre version of the Jack in the Box "Jumbo Jack". The fries were decent and crispy but it didn't do much to save the flavor of the burger. And even after requesting ketchup during my order, they didn't include any in the bag. So this pretty much sums up my visit at "Sonic Drive-In". Probably one of the most forgettable experiences when it comes to fast food. Many of my close Yelp friends have raved about this place with stellar reviews but the food quality just wasn't there for me. Service was decent, prices were a little bit more on the expensive side, but food was below average. My rating, only two stars. read more

This is the very first time trying sonic so I pull in the drive-thru no one in the intercom say anything, it was all mute. I've been to this Sonic a few times and like the drinks but the food is hit and miss. I ordered a grilled cheeseburger, some tater tots, and a Reese's peanut butter cup Blast. They arrived fairly quickly but my server forgot the ranch dressing which I had added to my order. He was good about going back to get me some even though they were very busy. My first impression of the grilled cheeseburger was that it didn't look like the picture. The color was off and you couldn't see any meat. It looked like two large pieces of pale French toast fused together with cheese. I picked it up and it flopped over because it was so soggy. There was meat inside it but not much and I could barely taste it between mouthfuls of the soggy bread. Some of the tater tots were crispy, but most were soggy. Many had fallen apart in the container, or fell apart when I picked them up. There were a few French fries mixed in with them. For some reason, the fries were not as soggy. My Blast was good, and had lots of peanut butter cup pieces in it. It was thick and creamy, so I needed to eat it with a spoon. I really enjoyed it. It's too bad the rest of my meal wasn't as good. Did a quickie today at Sonic! Sonic is best known for its retro theme, its drive-in concept, and its carnival-like menu items. It is an American drive-in fast-food restaurant chain that is just a passing through for some and a must have for others. For me, today was a must have. I haven't had a corn dog since my last visit to Washington. You can go through the drive-thru, order inside(not at the moment), or go to the drive in and make a memory. At Sonic, you can pull in and take as long as you need to look at the menu. When you're ready to order, you push the red button. Today, I whizzed through the drive-thru and we ordered 2 corn dogs ala cart and my friend got the Footlong Quarter Pound Coney hot dog meal. You have the choice of fries or tater tots and a beverage. We paid at the window and picked up our food at the next. Fun fact: Most SONIC drive-ins are franchisee owned and operated. This means that your local drive-in may be owned by your neighbor down the street. Our food was piping hot and tasted great! Those tater tots are legendary!!! Service was friendly and you could see the smile through their mask. All staff was wearing masks and gloves from what we could see. That was my corn dog craving for the time being.
