First off we were the only customer so there is no excuse for the crappy service I received today. First off Nysa was the name on the receipt and when she handed me my drink the top of the lid was full of coke so when she handed it to me it spilled all over me and the inside of my truck. Went to the Sonic at 502 Century Rd., Rapid City SD, Horrible service! Bad attitude with employee at the drive up window. Ordered a Foot long with everything - came out with just chili and cheese. I asked them where the rest was and was told you have to ask for the extras at the speaker. Told her I did - she then shuts the window on me and brings back a cup with a few onions hands it out the window and slams the window shut again without any there you go or Thank You or nothing. Apparently they don't know what a foot long with everything is. Won't be going back there anytime soon. read more

Terrible service. Got two milkshakes - one was leaking down the side and making a mess. The employee spilled the other one all over the inside of the car and my dad's legs because she failed to let him get a hold on it before letting go. She didn't apologize at all. The manager or shift lead didn't seem to care and said we couldn't have a refund since it was remade. It was remade, but the employee lied and said she asked if we wanted a refund or remake when in fact she did not ask and just brought a remake. In my opinion, it should have been a refund and remake since the employee was at fault and made such a mess of our vehicle. An apology would have gone a long way too, but no one really seemed to care. Will definitely not return to this location. read more

Horrible service. Waited in my stall for 10 minutes just for the button to go out and say press it again. I pressed it again and said are you kidding me that was a waste of time. The lady behind the speaker shouts "ok and now you can leave!" In the most obnoxious voice so I snapped back saying you just wasted my time and she was just horrible being so obnoxious with me she should be fired. Update my wife called to talk to a manger about what happened apparently she is the manager and claimed I was "banging on the screen" which i guess pressing the red button to order another time is banging on there screen? read more

I've had a completely opposite experience than some, and I have to tell it the way I've experienced it. (I also have a pretty high threshold, and try to keep a lot in perspective.) With that said, I really only come here for the Bacon Breakfast Toaster, and an occasional Cherry Limeade. My food has always been received hot, and though I've waited for a long while once, I was compensated with a little Poker Chip (or two) to grab a free Cherry Limeade the next time through. (Also, the time of night I was arriving was right before close and the manager was running things solo.) (Also-also, I called ahead the next time, and just paid and rolled. It worked and worked well. Speaking of Cherry Limeades! They're just right. As long as you snag a medium or a small. My large experience has been thin and lackluster, but I've never been disappointed with the Sm/Mds. I know this is short and contradictory to some, but all of our experiences are a snapshot in time. Mine just have been a little better than most. Also, I really just come here for the Bacon Breakfast Toaster and the Cherry Limeades. read more

I am extremely disappointed in Sonic. I ordered a large shake and a medium shake at the sonic near my house on Century Rd in Rapid City on May 25. I ordered and paid in the app and when I arrived I was told they did not have large cups so we would get 2 medium shakes instead and she would refund the difference. My husbands shake was not mixed correctly and was not the kind he ordered. I did not get a refund but I thought it may take a little more time. I still have not received a refund! I emailed Sonic to let them know how my order was. I have never received a response. I will never go to this Sonic again. read more

This location is terrible! Every time I've ordered ice cream they do not do my correct order. Today I paid for two ice creams and in BOTH they did not add 3 extra add on's that I paid for. I honestly don't know why I come to this sonic half the time anymore. But today I pulled up into the drive through, I had to repeat my order 4 times before she got what I want, what ever maybe she couldn't hear me fine. But I get my food and it's not correct, of course my fault for not looking but I'm allergic to tomatoes and asked specifically for no tomatoes. And guess what was on my sandwich? You guessed it tomatoes and I asked for pickles too and they weren't on my sandwich. Fine I'll just take off the tomatoes and hope I don't get sick, but the ranch is what got me. It was partially opened. Gross. Moral of the story is, check your food if you go through the drive thru. And for sonic, please check your ranch sauce packets, this one was gross. read more

I do not recommend this Sonic at all. I went to this Sonic on Monday 4/20/20 around 5. I used the app to order since I wasn't sure yet what I wanted and parked in a stall and waited for my food. From the time I ordered to when I finally got my food, it had been 30 minutes. Multiple cars were going through the drive through during this time. The screen said that the person was coming with my food, and I waited almost 10 minutes before I finally pressed the button to let them know. She brings my food out, one item wasn't even mine and my bag had a huge hole in it. The food tasted old, like it was just reheated. I got my daughter a vanilla shake with Oreo pieces. She started drinking it and had an allergic reaction with her face turning red and blotchy and her eye swelling up within 2 minutes. She has a high allergy for peanuts and the shake should've been safe for her to drink. I have had poor service/food at this sonic before and after this, I will never go there again. read more

I ate at this sonic the whole time I was in Rapid City. A total of three days, sometimes the wait was long. However I never had any issues with my food or my drinks. Everything I tried was well made and delicious. I watched while they seamlessly handled each order, and I was impressed by how efficient each employee was. They were also really nice and didn't get agitated when I asked for something extra or for their opinion on a menu item. I'll definitely go there again. (Side note they were fully compliant with restrictions due to COVID-19) In short I was happy to have some comfort food while I was trying to find my way around Rapid City. read more

This morning, in the rush of the morning hustle and bustle, I walked out of the house without breakfast so I swung by Sonic off of Century Road to grab something to eat. I drove up to the drive-thru and a pleasant voice greeted me. He took my order and was struggling so I assumed he was newer. In the midst of his (or atleast what would be my frustration) of trying to find an item in the system he kindly admitted his struggle and asked me to pull forward so I did. Upon my arrival to the window he tells me his name is Richard. I see he is probably between 50-60 and I was instantly shocked a place would hire someone his age for a fast paced position. Let me tell you how happy I am that they did... Richard proceeds to thank me for allowing him to learn something new and whole heartedly states "since I had one thing wrong on your order already I would like to read this back to you" and yes, Sonic almost always does this anyways but again the level of professionalism was astonishing. Fast forward to receiving my drink. He took the time to nicely wrap the straw and mint in a napkin, handed the neatly wrapped package to me then waited as I put it down and proceeded to hand me my drink. (Most places seem to just shove it all at you at once) at the end as I am wondering if I caught his name right he opens the window and in the process of handing my food he states his name and thanks me for coming through. I share this story for two reasons. 1. It is not often anymore that you get that level of professionalism, especially in a drive-thru. I definitely appreciate the time he took to apologize and THANK ME for the opportunity to learn something new!!! 2. He treated his position as a blessing not a curse. He is not some person that sees his position as just another job and that is so extremely hard to come by. I don't know this gentleman and he doesn't know me but he was genuinely appreciative that I was a patron not just another ticket number. read more

We ordered our food through the drive-thru with no problem but we stood in line waiting for our food for 25 minutes. Once we received our food most of it was cold. Our onion rings and tater tots were extremely crispy and didn't look or taste fresh. My boyfriend and I both ordered a breakfast burrito and they both tasted extremely salty. So salty we couldn't even eat them. The 25-minute wait definitely wasn't worth the horribly tasting food. read more
