Aw, Culver's! Whenever I see one, I'm hoping that it's lunch or dinner and we're eating out! Here in Rapid City, I made it a lunch date with Culver's when I saw the place. They have the best fish sandwich of any fast food. Thick Atlantic cod is what I bite into. If you don't like cheese, ask for that to be taken off because it does come with cheese. I suppose the place is best known for their custard, but I've never had any, just the fish sandwich. Service was fast and the place was clean. We came here during COVID and went through the drive through. Then we ate outside in their large eating area. The lobby was closed. If you have not been to Culver's, it is fast food but a grade higher than McDonalds. They also serve custard ice cream. The food is ok but service is lacking. We came through and their board clearly said a root beer float was 2.39. We ordered and they were over $5. We noticed the error and let them know. The girl at the drive through argued and said "well even a small is $2.79" we snapped a picture and showed them when we pulled up. Fish was plopped on top of French fries so by the time it got to the table, the coating on the bottom was mush. Texture of the fish was very soft. Ate inside Sunday, April 18th. 7 of us. So we had to choose the table where one man had been sitting. Kids' handprints and crumbs all over the other side of the table. Which tells me COVID-19 standards weren't kept for 2 rounds of people eating at that table. I ordered a protein style burger with no bun. The same girl I ordered from brought my husband's & my wrapped burgers to the table in her hands! When we tried to tell her I ordered mine with no bun, she was dumbfounded. She had no idea what I meant. My husband gave her the still-wrapped burger to take back and fix. She still stood there not knowing what to do..looking at me as I explained it usually comes on a bed of lettuce. Nothing...giggles. In the interest of not losing my temper, I took the burger back and told her to forget it. I was afraid of what would actually come back to the table if she walked away with it. I later found the manager and told her. She apologized and told me the girl was only 14. That was it. Lousy dinner for everyone. My niece said her onion rings tasted like fish. So It was a very sorry excuse for a manager, and a Culver's. I was pretty embarrassed because we took out of town guests after telling them how good Culver's was. Not only did they forget to give me tomatoes and lettuce on my butter burger, but they also put chocolate chips in my concrete mixer instead of browning bites. We have never been to a Culver's before and since we were driving through town decided to stop. Today we ordered 2 Pretzel Haus Pub Burgers, one with a fry and one with onion rings, 2 sodas and a kids cheeseburger meal (just meat, cheese and bun) with fries and a chocolate milk. We rate on five points: Cleanliness-5, Friendliness-5, we were greeted as soon as we walked in and the lady at the counter was patient and informative as we read over the menu and asked a few questions, even calling someone over to take the order in drive so she didn't have to leave us, Wait time-5, food was very prompt and we were read back our order before she left the table to assure it was as we had ordered. She also explained that when we were ready we could redeem the tab for an ice cream for our granddaughter. Taste & Presentation (does it looks like it did on the sign/menu)-5. The burgers were absolutely delicious, fries were seasoned just right and I love the fact they had diet rooter. And brownie points for getting the grand babies burger just as we ordered the first time around. Food was also neat and tidy in presentation. and last point is would we return again-5...definitely.
