Every town in the West has a street like Yellowstone Blvd. where every fast food restaurant is lined up. If I am going to eat this kind of food Sonic is probably second to In-N-Out Burger in California. We do not have Sonics in New Jersey although we do get the TV commercials. I always like to stop in once in while when I am in a town that has a Sonic Restaurant. Ordering from the speaker boxes is sometimes a little confusing but after the first or second time it makes more sense. It is a fun place and you can eat your meal outside on the red metal picinic tables. Not a bad treat. Fast food you do not have to feel guilty about. read more

I only ordered a couple of drinks, and it took over an hour to receive them. For a fast food restaurant, the service should be much faster.

We got to the drive-thru half an hour before closing time. Some of the lights were turned off. We pulled into a stall and pushed the red button. It said what it usually says. After a short wait, one of the employees came out to do something and was surprised to see us. She seemed surprised to see us and asked if we wanted to order some food. She took our order on a piece of paper. Someone brought our food. When we got home, we handed out the food. My burger was cold. The cheese was cold. They had just thrown it together and wrapped it. The two other burgers were room temperature, and toaster bread was used instead of buns. It appeared that the employees were close to closing and just threw all our food together with what they had left over and didn't want to be bothered with getting it right. We ordered a Oreo blast, cookie dough blast with Reese mix-in along with a corndog. The interaction through the dive through was going good. He as in the worker read out the order then the drive said "yes ma'am." in response with an unsavory tone and raised voice said "Im not a ma'am." the driver proceeded to apologize met with a sigh by they employe. Moving forward to the window was normal, we waited a usual time received a bag and one blast, the drive said and an Oreo blast? The worker replied with "oh, okay" and shut the window. The workers conversed, then one left view of the driver. The male worker re-opened the window and handed me a cup, and the car drove off as the workers were laughing. Ok, gotta say 2nd time in two weeks Sonic has let us down and were horrible about it. Ordered two blasts two weeks ago and when brought to us they were pure liquid, said there machine was broken and was sorry. I asked for a refund and they gave me my receipt and go do it online. Fast forward to tonight, decide to treat ourselves again totally forgetting what happened two weeks ago....mind you they never refunded me(just 8 bucks)!!!!.....it happened again!!! I don't know why I keep giving this location a second chance. I ordered two drinks on the app. It took HALF AN HOUR for them to bring them to my car. Last time it took them 20 minutes to get me two drinks and some tater tots. The drinks ALWAYS taste horrible. This was finally my last attempt at giving Sonic my business. Been coming here for years. Usually super friendly and fast. Lately really slow waiting 10 to 15 minutes for an order is getting old. Now tonight they have people and what appears to be employees outside the store right in front of customers smoking, drinking, swearing, throwing cigarette butts in between customers cars. This to me is absolutely ridiculous unprofessional and should not be tolerated at all. I am not sure I will come back and would not recommend people to come here. These guys SERIOUSLY need to work on communication skills. I swear to god, every time I say one thing, they wait 40 seconds to respond, only to repeat back something completely different. "Can I get a large Coke?" ".....you said a small Diet Coke?" (no). "Can I can a side of ranch?" "...It has ranch on it" "Yeah but like can I get some on the side?" ".....(30 seconds) Do you want ranch on the side too?" They're so hostile and not friendly when they take your order. The last three times I have been to this location (710 Yellowstone in Pocatello, ID), their ice cream machine was broken or "down." No Sundaes or cones, just shakes. Really Sonic??? So first of all it took 20 or so minutes in the kitchen then it says your server is coming but 7 minutes later he finally bring out the 3 ice creams then he realizes that we also ordered food and a slushy, 5 minutes go by and finally he brings out are food, by that time the ice cream was melted. Went there for lunch 3/15/19 at 11AM in Pocatello, ID, on Yellowstone Ave. and Cedar St.. Ordered 2 Bacon Double cheese burgers, large fries, and 2 large milk shakes for myself and a friend. (Total cost was $23.90). Went home, ate, and one hour later threw up (vomited). My friend who is my neighbor as well, told me he also puked! I would go back today (3/16/19) and demand a refund, but I doubt that will happen! I suspect the burgers were kept under a heat lamp all day or since the day before, from the looks of them (wilted lettuce, etc), and that will destroy the mayo dressing that is slathered on! I will NEVER ever go to Sonic again. I literally paid $24 bucks for food poisoning!!! If I could, I would give a ZERO rating! Edit: Went there on Sat., 3/16/19 about 3pm to voice my issue, and concerns with the manager. And as I was talking to him inside the very busy and noisy work area, I noticed how filthy the floor was, as was most every surface area. He gave me a number to call which was a message machine. I like their hot dogs from time to time and my wife likes their drinks.To be fair though it takes plenty of time and patience.The day when the cashier on the other end is not deaf or otherwise afflicted is a lucky day though and also their speed of service is very slow so if you are in a hurry ( as most people who grab fast-food instead of having a regular meal are) you can get faster burger at McDonalds across the street.Also the service at McDonalds is more consistent , compared to Sonic.And do not get me wrong . I have few family members with disabilities and I sincerely believe, that deaf people are people too and deserve to be employed anywhere they wish, but why the majority of them choses and is being chosen by Sonic in Pocatello is beyond my understanding. Ok their speaker/ microphone might be at fault , but when you drive to the window and enunciate each word slowly and clearly 3 times and yet the person fails to understand what is wanted you are often tempted to yell obscenity and drive elsewhere.Or it might be their famous attitude,- it will get done somehow on its own....or not...who cares ? So if you have plenty of time and would not mind your order being wrong 30 % of the time this place is for you. read more

Very upset. Got to Sonic around 1pm on a weekday. Waited 15 minutes just to order. Had to wait another 25 minutes for my order to be given to me. Only got half my order. Tried to use the order button to call and ask for my food and they put me on hold for another 10 minutes before I was finally able to talk to someone. No sauces were given to us and none were offered. Food was very mediocre and not worth the 45 minute wait. If you're going to charge $9 for popcorn chicken, I already expect sauces to come with it. Everywhere else, it's default to add ranch. Go to Wendy's or Taco Bell down the street. The service is much quicker and more likely to not screw up your order after having 25 minutes to comprehend what the customer asked for. read more

What the AF goes on at this Sonic? At 8pm we ordered a number 2 cheeseburger combo (lettuce, onion, ketchup only, med. fries, diet Coke) and two small chocolate milkshakes. About five or six minutes later we got the diet Coke and the two shakes. No food. The carhop asked for the receipt and went back inside. It was thirty minutes later when we finally got a " manager" to come out to help. He went inside to get the food. Came back to the car asking what we ordered. The carhop managed to lose the receipt - bonus points for that feat. We told him what had been ordered and he went inside to make it. He then brought out the burger... prepared wrong. Back inside, made it again, brought it out. We were there for a damn HOUR!!!! Did I mention they weren't busy???? They weren't busy!!! He gave us coupons for free hot dogs. Guess if we ever use them we need to call a week ahead......so, now that we are home with the "to go" order...no fries, but instead we have cheese sticks. Sonic is usually one of my favorite fast food restaurants, but this particular location never fails to disappoint. For the prices sonic charges, I expect a little more. My wife is allergic to dairy so she ordered her burger without cheese. Jokingly, I asked if we got .50 off since adding cheese is a 50 cent charge on the menu. Answer was no. So I asked if we could replace it with jalapeños, another 50 cent option. After asking the manager, also no. Customer satisfaction isn't a high priority here. We ordered some popcorn chicken and were informed it would be five minutes to cook. Fine. 10 minutes later our order was delivered with a tiny popcorn chicken that wasn't even full. Also, it appears our burgers were made immediately and left to sit until the rest of the order was ready, because the food was cold and grease had soaked through the bottom bun. The signature sauce we ordered was not delivered with the meal, so I ordered again. Most of the meal was gone by the time they decided to bring it out. Avoid this location. Update: I was contacted by sonic with an apology and an offer to make it right. While I probably won't take them up on the offer, I appreciate the gesture, and the apology. Decent malts (all I've ever had). Though, they half-ass stuff at times. They'll screw up your shake order at times and then "fix" it by dumping it into a bigger cup and messing with it. The result? A bland shake. Sometimes there's a ton of unmixed malt or chocolate syrup at the bottom. I'm going to try another place next time. Sometimes though, it's pretty damn good. read more

My wife and I went to the sonic in pocatello on a Friday evening. The drive thru was busy with only two cars parked in the stalls. We ordered two medium shakes since they were half off after 8pm. After waiting for over 15 min another order came across the window menu. We waited for an additional 5 min then hit the button to find out where our order was. The girl read off the second order and I explained we only had the two milkshakes she said they would be right out. They deliver both orders and tell us we had to pay again after we paid with our card! After waiting for so long and everything being melted ( obviously from sitting so long ) told them to keep it and ate the money they charged my card!! We will never go back again!! I wanted to like this place, and I have in other towns, but the location here is pretty bad. The first experience I had was when I got moldy apples in the kids meal that I ordered. I had already started eating them, the ones on top were fine, but towards the bottom of the bag I spotted the mold and almost got sick when I saw it. I called and told them about it and they offered me a replacement. I didn't go back at that time. Months, if not over a year later I went back again. When I got to the window the young man was just handing my food out the window to me, hot dog, tots, etc., no bag or anything. I had to ask for a bag or box to put the food in. So again I waited a long time to go back and finally did a few nights ago for milkshakes. I ordered from one of the pull up stalls and ended up waiting 27 minutes for my order. One milkshake and a fudge brownie sundae. I had to push the button and tell them I was still waiting and they said it was up and they'd bring it right out. The ice cream on the sundae had already started to melt so I don't know if they just forgot or what. They were somewhat busy that night, but I saw plenty of other cars getting in and out quickly. There was a car to the left of me that also had been there the whole time I was there and I saw them only get milkshakes as well. So after three failed attempts at a good experience with this location, I have just decided not to go back. read more

Today was my first visit to this Sonic and probably my last. It is hard to hear and make your order, so I understood when my order was wrong. They agreed to fix it, and I waited the six minutes for a new chicken burger. They ran off after handing me the new bag without giving me a chance to check it. It was wrong again. There was no reason for them to mess up my burger twice in a row. At this point, I've wasted 15 minutes and five bucks. I just left.
