Lately, when visiting Pocatello, we've been able to visit a few places that are clustered together…read morein what could only be described as the traditional Grandpa's-Diner-Club. This most recent visit was to Elmer's Restaurant. They have a nice-sized corner parking lot, with lots of big blue signs to alert you that the spots are reserved for Elmer's guests. Up against the building, an alcove sets out where a sporty red car sits in front of a paper 'No Parking' sign--surely Elmer. The building is one of those old, deep-foundation squat ones where only a very short wall holds the windows higher than the sidewalk. We made our way to the entrance, and I pulled open one of those classic, heavy glass diner doors. While the other two in my group, being ready for menus, quickly stepped in, I stayed holding the door for a party of five right on our heels. That was pretty much the story in there: not a single two-top in the place. It was fairly busy, with all big-tops having three to six people. Each of the three servers was handling their fair share of them--keeps a server moving. There was a fourth server, an older woman, tediously wrapping up silverware during the coming rush--this restaurant's still hanging in there OG. As far as the atmosphere: The noise decibel was low, as relaxed energy peacefully flowed from the families dining in there, but the three servers on the floor keeping up with the large tables were humming around as if motor-powered. We were sat fairly quickly by a highly energetic young lady (the youngest in there) who had that nervous smile of 'don't show the stress' plastered on her face. She was very nice and gave a nod to our server, who quickly approached us for our drink orders. I didn't need a menu for that, "coffee please" were my very first words spoken at Elmer's, with my other half quickly echoing. The third in our party, as is her norm, ordered the most dazzling fruity concoction on the menu, lol--she loved her Blended Strawberry Lemonade. With drinks out of the way, we turned our focus to the menu. The menu is pretty big with three pages of breakfast alone, and lots of tantalizing photos of dishes to tempt a hungry reader. It is hard to explain, but it strikes a perfect balance that seems to be 'unique-traditional'--Elmer's signature. Two of us, including me, got the delicious Potato Cakes Breakfast, with eggs and sausage. Topped with sour cream, the cakes come with cheese and onions cooked in. I added some chunky salsa on top--ohhh my goodnessmagnificent. My other half ordered the very different Fresh Fruit German Pancake, and Chicken Apple Sausage links. She especially loved the sausage, but said both were very good. Elmer's food is all great! I doubt the owner's name is Elmer (as the door sign reveals--owner's name is Earl), but our server told me that he snapped the pics of the nature prints around the walls, so I do know he's a great photographer. The coffee is really good, the food is spectacular, and the service is flawless! Elmer's can be summed up as 'a perfection of that hometown, unpretentious hospitality and hustle.' One of my highest breakfast diner recommendations--Super-Scale 8*

We were in an hour and a half prior to closing and were seated in the table area of the restaurant…read more Our server was especially sweet and obervant. The food was okay-if a little bland on the hashbrown gravy. However, prior to getting our meal half of the dining room we were in was closed off and before we finished our meal (a good 45 minutes before closing) they were vacumning on the other side of the partition they'd pulled across. Not particularly welcoming, Elmer's and it's not the first time it has happened to us. This doesn't even include the table full of tomorrow's set ups that employees were working and gabbing at. Ultimately, either you're open or you're not. Vacumning around people trying to eat is rude. Be better.

The last time we went to a clubhouse bar & grille the experience was fantastic." Then we did research--Oh boy lol, it's near a golf course at least, and it is a sports bar & grill, so off to Pokey we went. After a fun little stop for coffee in Blackfoot along the way, we headed off to West Chubbuck Rd. via 91 South. Off the hwy, and into town, anticipating arriving at the restaurant after every stretch of property that could have held a golf course--But no, I was jumping the gun. We kept traveling down the old road of evolving names, past all the commerce area, past the homes, and past the point of me feeling confident in my navigation app--started to think we were lost. Traveling down Old Bannock highway, until finally on Pocatello's south tip some roadside establishments appeared. With a big Budweiser truck along the shoulder, and that very welcome digital sound voice "You're destination is on the left" I scanned for the name and logo--Eureka! Nice large parking lot with wheelchair access, and a bike rack out front--a space for everyone. The inside environment is high-heritage, beer-centric sports tavern with an affluent local soul. It's a warmly lit sports lounge with a textured quartz stone trim (Tried a video of this for you). Along with dedicated photos of today's memories and past, there is an entertaining collage of abstract Ads, untypical beer mirrors, and signs that crowd the walls triumphantly displaying unique logos. There are two mountain bikes secured above the doorway--fitting of a true sports bar. The tables and booths are In close proximity to each other, but space enough to be private. Perfect for a gathering, or a scattering. Many of the patrons we saw, know the bartender/server (Who is a young man) by name, and are themselves a little elderly. This place is a real old-time buddies sports clubhouse, with a vibe that welcomes everyone. Good thing too; It would be a shame for anyone to miss out Isac's, (ēzak) friendly and superior skills. He's a great server, handled our orders like a pro. It's easy to see that he's been doing this for a while. He kept perfect pace with the customers needs (Even as the place started filling up a bit) and the kitchen putting out the food. Seven* for the solo, unshakable Bar-Server! The smell inside was crippling me! My stomach growling--it was trying to eat the delicious smell. That makes it really hard to concentrate, and find the perfect item/s, cuz you want it all lol. The menu has a something for every type of comfort hungry appeal. Finally! We decided on food. A 3 Piece Appetizer Combo, and Steak Fingers for us to share. A Crispy Chicken Salad for her, and I had the Roast Beef Sandwich. It comes with your choice of wheat or sourdough. Toasted sourdough for me--no contest. I really overdid it with a just thick enough to be a chore to get thru the straw, Strawberry Shake--SO GOOD. Ok I shoulda been done a long time ago, but they had Mac & Jacks African Amber! I mean, amber lovers know I got a mug But yeah, like always, we ordered too much food. The Steak Fingers are BOMB!, not your typical over breaded and burnt, pieces of drowned in oil nuggets. These were STEAK.....FINGERS. There is a difference. She loved her her Salad, and my Sandwich, man that was tasty. Thinly sliced roast, and from the smell inside freshly roasted, perfectly seasoned, well toasted yet juicy. Dang! My side was a fresh house-made Chicken Noodle & Vegetable Soup that I can't even describe. You'll have to see the photos--this masterpiece even has fresh cut potatoes. Those things were good and tasty to great. Butttt at some point, the appetizers all being deep fried started tasting the same. So maybe we over did it, or maybe my order wasn't a hole in one, but I'm confident you'll love it. So 5* overall, but even with some standout items 4* on the food. Thanks for reading. Need to see the Pics.

This is super yum!! With bacon?!?!?! Extra indulgent!! So good!! *Palate burger. Bacon jam? Yes, please! Pickle Aioli? Interesting, sign me up! This was a yummy burger, although I never did find the cheese on it....yet still happily ate my piece. *Ambitious Blonde Burger. I would have preferred a bit more beer cheese-or maybe a 2nd type of cheese too? but it was still very yummy!! The generous amount of yummy bacon made up for any smaller amount of cheese ;-) *Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich. Super yum, although we are used to more of an oil based "sauce" and this was something else. Still good, still spicy, just not super authentic(we lived in the Nashville/Huntsville area for a decade) *Pulled pork Sandwich. Super good. Sauce seems homemade, great compliment to the sandwich! *Smoked Tri-tip Sandwich. Really good. The bbq sauce, toppings make it next level! This is coming from someone who never understood the hype of tri-tip(when living in CA), but finally did-just took going to ID to figure it out ;-) *Cuban Sandwich. This was good. Had the pulled pork from above & was very yummy!! Condiments once again took it to the next level! Exactly what it should be! *Pretzel Bites. These were served with beer cheese & super yum, kids loved them! Everything was amazing & we cannot wait to go back for more!! All 4 kids loved everything!!

When we walked in the server insisted that we sit inside instead of going out back. I wish we had gone out back to the truck, our server was super attentive but we felt a bit forced to buy a drink from them and ordering via the bistro QR code from the table was a little clunky. We were also traveling and the drink menu from Jim Dandy's didn't tickle our fancy. My husband got the Piggyback Burger with truffle fries and it was delicious! All of the flavors went well together and were plentiful. I had the pork tacos and the brussel sprouts. The brussels could've feed four people and were a bit on the very well done side. The tacos were full of meat but just okay and the chimichurri was nothing to write home about. The location was clean and quiet. Loads of seating inside and had some fun decor touches. Maybe we'll head to the other location next time we are in the area.

She smiled and said thank you! We brought our leftovers back to our room where we're staying. Gonna eat this delicious food later for lunch! OMG!!! I can't understand how we got the worst and best restaurants I. Pocatello in one morning! . Thank you so much Teese and ButterBurr's for making us and I'm sure many other patrons full, content and happy! PS: we were in awe after we received our order and began to eat and most of our meal was eaten before we thought of taking a photo but, trust me, ButterBurr's is extremely wonderful to eat.
