Everytime I come here I have to ask myself, why exactly do I keep coming here?!?! I have been a fan of Sonic since I was little, having eaten Sonic in Arizona and in other places around Lancaster I can never really stay away... The reason? I really do know. The food is cafeteria level at best, the service is always slow and they tend to run out of food. Yet, I am still there for the drinks which always seem to hit the spot, especially on a hot day or after making a mini brewery run through Anaheim. I tend to always go with the Chicken Strip Dinner which includes: chicken strips, tater tots, 1 onion ring and 1 piece of toast. They used to have a Texas Chicken Strip Dinner which was 10x's better, but they have since moved on from that. As far as drinks go I either go with a regular root beer or a cherry limeade. There is like 1,000 different drink combinations available here for those like to be adventurous with their mixed (non-alcoholic) drinks. This location is always packed, and it always boggles my mind that there is another location like 3 miles down the street, yet no other Sonic for the next 100 or so miles! read more

The last 7 times we've gone to this location they've either messed up the slushies and given us something we didn't order, or they took 30 minutes to bring out our drinks we ordered ahead through the app and by the time we got them they had already melted. Very disappointing and I never know if I'm gonna get what I ordered at this location. They've been dropping the ball every single time and I can expect that something will either be wrong or the wait will be long if I come to this sonic. The only reason I go to sonic is for the slushees. They literally have every single flavor you can think of in regards to the slushy , they have Powerade, cherry, strawberry, the variety is endless. Not only is the slush is good, but they also have tasty desserts, if you have a sweet tooth, and you want a frozen treat , I definitely recommend Sonic. You don't even have to go inside the restaurant , you can simply order from the Stall, and eat in your car. My sister brought me to Sonic awhile back because I told her I had never been. I'm sure everyone has seen their corny commercials! For those of you who have never been its sorta that car hop style drive-in with modern day perks! You pull up look over the menu, press the red button and order! Then some awesome server will bring you your food car hop style with the tray attached to your window! No need to even get out of the car! Last night I had their bacon cheeseburger toaster with mozzarella sticks. I started by eating the mozzarella sticks and then went for the burger and by then the bread had gotten a little soggy. Bummer! It kinda made a mess. But it was still yummy and filling! Love love love their happy hour from 2-4! I've tried quite a few of their real fruit slushes but I gotta say my favorite is the lime! Came here for dinner and we waited for 19 minutes until they came out with our order. We were disappointed with the wait and not only that, but they messed up our order!! We ordered a grilled chicken sandwich, 2 medium tater tots, and chicken strips. Instead, they gave us a hamburger sandwich instead of the grilled chicken sandwich. Come on now, a hamburger when we specifically asked for a chicken sandwich? =( And not only that, but I just don't understand the lack of common sense. We only got a few ketchup packets for our 2 orders of tater tots and chicken strips. Totally unsatisfying. The hamburger tasted okay. My boyfriend did not like it so I gave him my chicken strips instead. The chicken strips tasted okay. As I bit into them, the crispiness of the chicken was off. It's like 50/50 ratio for shake and whipped cream. I don't need that much whipped cream. I don't think whipped cream doesn't do any good to the shake. Rip off. Size: Small size frosty is pretty big. Small size here is a "kid's" cup, or "water" cup. Super tiny. And half of it is whipped cream.. - Gluttony Expedition - Oreo cheesecake shake: it sounded good, but the execution felt short. I love that the waitresses bring out the food with roller skates, the kids got a kick out of it. My 3 year old thought they were flying. In his defense, they do go fast on wheels. I ordered the Chicago Dog and it looked like the picture on the order board and the television. The Chicago Dog comes with a pickle, relish, tomato, celery salt, and mustard all served up in a warm poppy seed bun. The presentation was on, great looking dog. However, the hot dog was anticlimactic and plain. I was disappointed and sad. The kids loved the corn dogs and tater tots. Those little tater tots are the bomb. I love the idea of Sonics but the food is horrible! I've tried the Sonic cheeseburger, chili cheese tots, onion rings and back in the day they had a fried chicken dinner box. The food is ehh..definitely not worth eating. On the other hand, I do love the strawberry limeade slush! It's sweet yet sour and tart. They put in sweet, sugary pieces of strawberry and a slice of like in it. The best time to go is during HH, which is everyday from 2-5 (the receipt says 2-4 though?). Taste your drinks before you leave! We waited for about 15-20 minutes for two shakes. They gave my husband the wrong shake! He ordered the chocolate hazelnut cream shake and got an Oreo shake instead. When they delivered our drinks, they did state the correct order and handed us the drinks. But my husband noticed that there were oreo bits sprinkled on top of his shake. We were already tired of waiting, so we left. I've been wanting to go here for the longest time. Always had a thing for the 50s and 60s generation. The music in the drive through was great. Really set the tone. Ordering was easy. Person was friendly. Food overall was decent. Your average American food to be honest. However the drinks are amazing. You wouldn't think much of simple flavor add ins, but they take the drink to another level. I ordered sprite with a real fruit add in (pineapple). My boyfriend ordered Dr. Pepper with vanilla flavoring added in. My goodness. This was mind blowing. Mine was so refreshing! It tasted so good! Real pineapple pulp at the bottom. My boyfriend's was good too. Dr pepper with the smooth aftertaste of vanilla. Highly recommend those combinations. Didn't get to try a shake, but we will soon! Coming back next week for another date. If you are looking for a cool drink with plenty of choices this is the place. Their drink order is extensive. They do not provide alcoholic drinks however, you will have to go elsewhere for that. I had their ocean water which is delicious and also their strawberry limeade. Both excellent drinks. Their ice is the best I have ever had. They even sell the bags of ice to the public. I bought a 5lb bag to take home. They have iced beverages, coffees, slushies, sodas, milkshakes, and if it is not on the menu, they will make it for you. In the past I have tried their cappuccinos and moose. They too are excellent. I ordered a bacon grilled chicken sandwich on sandwich bread. It was very delicious and satisfying, it came with an option of either french fried or tater tots. I chose the tater tots as I have come to find out the only place to order french fries is from McDonald's. The food was god. Very good. Service was quick. I ate at a stall. The server was courteous and kind. He offered other options of sauces and went to get us more at not cost. There were a lot of customers. The place was full, but service was spot on. I did not have to wait long. My food was hot and my drink was cold. I will continue to go to this place whenever I am in the Placentia area. I highly recommend it. The drive thru is a bit slower as there are always long lines, but it's like In-n-Out and Portos, if you want good food, you have to wait. Pricing is average. It is not expensive and it is not 7-Eleven cheap. But it is worth every cent. Especially for their service. read more

I know I'm not getting any younger. I know hubby is not getting any younger, either. Unfortunately, this place makes us feel old. Not because of the decor, or how you can drive-in and sit to eat. While the concept is adorable, it does require a good amount of land to do it properly. It's not the decor, as they do have a cute modern twist to it. But, unfortunately, it's the food. I never had Sonic before. As it was in the area and we wanted to try something we never had, hubby went through the drive-thru to pick us up some foods. For first-timers, it's a bit tough to figure out what you want, with the small print and only one menu. I mean, come on, if someone else is ordering, shouldn't there be a menu for the car behind them to be able to glance at and be able to see what is offered so that they're ready with what they want to order? Don't get me wrong; staff was great and probably completely understand that everyone won't know what to order. But I still feel that if you want to be a fast food place, you'll want your customers to order quickly, pay quickly, and leave quickly. After looking at other reviews, I cringed at the possible long wait time. However, it didn't take too long, as only one car was ahead of us. We ended up getting onion rings. While not too bad, it did have a sweet crust that I was not expecting. I definitely prefer Habit Burger's onion rings over those. Had a mini strawberry cheesecake shake. It was pretty good, but once I got to the whip cream, I just had to throw it out. Intense amount of artificial-ness. I could go to Baskin Robbin's or a Dairy Queen and get a Blizzard without feeling that sickness. Hubby had the chicken sandwich, which didn't look great, but it had that cheap chicken sandwich taste that reminded him of home. I had one of the footlong hot dogs, which wasn't bad, but I would've preferred a bit more toppings.
