It's particularly frustrating because I know firsthand what excellence looks like within this brand, and I've seen the comprehensive corporate support system that leaves absolutely no excuse for the operational disaster this location has become. The sole bright spot in this otherwise dismal experience was an employee named Marcus, who I believe no longer works at this location. Marcus embodies everything Sonic's corporate training promises: he was consistently kind, genuinely upbeat, and provided service that made you actually want to return. When Marcus was working, we knew our orders would be correct, delivered promptly, and with a smile that seemed authentic. We'd joke in the drive-thru that if the line was moving efficiently, "Marcus must be working today"--and we were always right. His departure isn't surprising given that he clearly possessed capabilities far beyond what this poorly managed location could offer or appreciate. Everyone else on staff, however, desperately needs to return to Sonic's training program. The operational failures here span every aspect of customer service: communication, organization, order accuracy, and basic professionalism. I've lost count of how many times I've been handed orders that weren't mine while sitting in a drive-in stall. What's particularly galling is hearing employees say "it's not my fault, I promise" while pointing fingers at kitchen staff or other team members. The blame-shifting showcases a complete breakdown in the communication and verification protocols that Sonic corporate clearly outlines in their operational standards. The staff appears to be running around like chickens with their heads cut off while simultaneously moving at the pace of molasses--a paradox that makes sense when you realize that constantly correcting mistakes takes exponentially more time than doing things right the first time. When corporate promises a 3-minute service target and mandates specific order verification procedures, these failures become inexcusable. Perhaps most shocking is that Sonic corporate, with all their quality control mechanisms and regular auditing procedures, hasn't stepped in to either shut this location down or force immediate operational improvements. Given the company's legal authority to inspect franchise locations and their history of terminating non-compliant operators, their apparent inaction here is baffling. This location isn't benefiting the community in any meaningful way, and I genuinely don't understand how the owner/operator sleeps at night knowing they're running such a substandard operation. When you have access to Sonic's training programs, detailed operational manuals, ongoing support systems, and clear performance standards, there's simply no excuse for this level of operational failure. So I came here on 3/10/25 at 9:32 PM, and I was immediately turned off by the service--lol. When I first pulled up, I said, "Hello," since no one greeted me, and the worker instantly responded, "I'm the only one in here; you're going to need to wait." No "hello," no "good evening," nothing. But I was like, "That's fine, I can wait." As I was waiting, I was on the phone with my window down so I could hear when she was ready to take my order. Out of nowhere, she told me I was being too loud... like, what?! At that point, I just apologized and drove off because it was clear she had an attitude. After reading all the other bad reviews about this location, I have to ask--why isn't corporate doing anything about this? Clearly, this isn't a one-time issue. It just shows that they truly don't value their customers. I would not recommend coming here at night unless you enjoy bad attitudes and weird service. This is the WORST Sonic in NC. You pull up and there's no cars in the drive thru, then sit at the screen for 20 minutes until someone says hello. Then when they finally say something it's just to say that they are out of something! No staff, and the staff that is there doesn't give a fuck to be there. They roll their eyes at you and take their time on purpose. We know how the fast food workers are in Charlotte- and this place is NO exception. DON'T GO! I had to update this as my experience became worse. The man who took my payment immediately went outside to smoke a cigarette and cough and spit in the parking lot. Are they trying to stay in business? My last two experiences here were horrendous. The first time my family ordered using the Sonic App. I went to the store as instructed, and it took them over an hour to get my order, and then when they delivered it to the car, the food was cold, and the half the order was wrong. When I questioned the server about it her response was, 'It's not my fault. I just brought the order out I didn't make it.' They did remake my order but it took them an additional thirty minutes, and it still wasn't completely right. I contacted the store as instructed on the receipt to make a complaint. I got a call from the store's manager who then proceeded to tell me that I had incorrectly used the app, and that it was all my fault that they had screwed the order up! I should learn how to read. That's what I was told! My second experience. Against my better judgment because of my previous visit, but my kid wanted to go because he wanted a slush. We spent nearly thirty minutes in the drive through for four slushes...Thirty minutes, and when we got to the window we were told that they couldn't fill our one slush order, so they were giving us another flavor instead. For a chain that nationally advertises milk shakes, it's odd that for days on end they have no ice cream. Having heard those inside tell others via the intercom that they are out of hamburger, bread, hot dogs etc., it appears that even those working inside do try, if they are not supplied with the proper supplies they can't serve the customers. My husband and I stopped by this sonic on the way home Sunday night. We decided to stop at a stall instead of the drive thru to order 2 drinks. Our order was taken shortly after pushing the button. Then we waited, and waited and waited. I knew that there were maybe 5 cars in the drive thru and that we would have to wait our turn for our drinks but not for 30 minutes. I pushed the call button again and the guy greeted us like we were new customers. I mentioned we were just checking on our drinks and he said hold on, and we sat for another 10 minutes. This sonic doesn't do car hop service apparently as of late. They essentially have a girl come out and tell everybody to go through the drive-through.. When I go to the drive-through they tell me their CC machine is busted and they are now cash only.. Seriously guys get it together.. We get that there's a labor shortage, and stuff happens.. but you're not doing much of anything with the labor you got.
