Sonia's Bakery has been a local fixture for over 30 years. We have been coming here since before we were married, a very long time. You can find local favorites like a delicious concha, the bulls eyes(this is the round red one with coconut), the empanada de pina, mansana, and pumpkin. They specialize in tamales, cheese bread(this is a sweet bread) and other foods from El Salvador. I am not sure if Sonia is still with or owns the bakery but the flavors haven't changed. I have been coming to this bakery since I was a toddler! It was the place we would always get our pan frances for all the fiestas. It was the place where we would come to pick up a quesadilla to have in time for desayuno at home on the weekend. It was the place to get the cola champan de botellas and un pan de semita for dessert. It is such a staple with my upbringing. 'Til this day, the man there is the person I remember since I was a kid. Whenever I do get that urge for some Salvi pan, this is my go to since it's so conveniently located. It's a quaint little bakery. On weekends if you go in the morning, you will see a handful of people eating desayuno there, platos tipicos. Very reminsicent of El Salvador. Much of the reason this place has been there for so many decades is because of the community it serves. This is based on my visit on Monday 1/4/2021. I got there and this lady didn't have her mask on and she was talking and touching everything and NO EMPLOYEE shit even the owner cause he was there told her anything. Normally they keep the "pan frances" the bolillo inside where they to serve it to you however this time it was in the front and the lady was getting some and just talking all over the bread. I told the girl why did they allow her to do that and got the heck out of there. The owner and employees need to really be more mindful and tell people to put their mask or get out, why risk getting people sick I will not be going there any more and told my parents not to eat anything from there anymore. read more

Delicious, freshly baked pan dulce! This is my family's neighborhood Latino bakery and they definitely make some good sweet bread. The people who are saying these are some of the best quesadillas they have tasted do not know authentic Salvadorian sweet bread, baked by grandmothers and aunts. The quesadillas are uneventful, like any plain sweet bread, they do not have that strong cheese/cream/cinnamon flavor. I also believe they're made with wheat flour and not rice flour as they are authentically made in El Salvador. I tried the loroco Pupusas, they are average at best. The platano empanadas, average at best. The service is not friendly and/or grateful for new business. The establishment has a B grade and for the sake of those that eat there, I hope that is due to the super unorganized nature of the establishment and not due to unsanitary conditions, which may very well be possible. The small eating area is dirty and unwelcoming. I believe people after being away from their home country for years just put up with any subpar imitations, and those that were not even born there just don't know any better. read more

Went in on Saturday, due to its reviews. They made me such an amazingly tasting Tres Leches Cake in about 30 minutes! It was so light and perfect. My mother who hates sweets said the cake was soo good, she wanted more. We haven't had a cake taste that good in such a long time. Highly recommended this place. It's great! read more

Five stars for great bolillos! Always fresh, warm, and delicious. Two stars for cleanliness and one star for absolutely HORRIBLE customer service. The worst! Rude, apathetic, and indifferent to the customer experience. Me thinks ol' Sonia needs some retraining on Customer Service 101. We've been coming here since maybe the 80's. Back in the 70's and 80's the go to Mexican Bakery was La Flor de Jalisco on Hacienda. They were the best! Lately, La Flor is La wilting! Then along came ol' Sonia's and we went back and forth to suit our needs. I moved on up like George and Weezy but my parents still live in the area (same house since 1965) and you can't get good bolillos where I live so we frequent La Sonia for the bread only. I put up with the poor customer service for the family since we all like the bread. My mom? She says La Sonia can go to Hades (that's not the word she uses, lol) since ol' Sonia treated her badly on more than one occasion. We just don't tell her where we got the bread! read more

So after looking on Yelp, I found that this place is close. I was happy to find this place. For $20 bucks for their "small" cake, the cake was delicious and there was a ton of strawberries in the middle. This cake could easily feed 10-15 depending on slice size.
