We stayed here in February 2009, on our first trip to Scotland/honeymoon with some local friends. Because it was low-season, it looked like our group was the only group staying there at the time. I don't know if it was because we'd stayed at a rather minimal place before this, but this place was first rate! My husband and I were given an en-suite room facing the mountains and what little you could see of the sea (Room 1). The employees were also very hospitable and helpful, quickly coming to my aid when I became ill having arrived not 5 minutes before in the parking lot. Of course, no mention of the Sonachan can occur without mention of Finlay, their beautiful collie, who came to greet us upon arrival and stuck to me like Velcro while I recovered.
So, to sum up, great location, wonderful service (the fact that they opened the entire B&B for a mere group of 4 is a testament to that), good food (the full English we got in the morning was superb), and a decent price make this an awesome place to go if you're trekking through the Highlands. read more
