Reserving the room on booking.com, I must have made a mistake because we ended up with a room to sleep four when we had five. The hotel understood the dilemma and accepted us anyway and brought us another comforter to make the stay more comfortable. My only knock is the location was also noisy. It wasn't because of the train or cars, but people on the street. Also for the amenities and the short stay it definitely felt overpriced. Well over $200 for the night and we got a bed. I've stayed in places with a full kitchen for that price.

My fish was tasty but soft; I'd guess the restaurant caters to mostly older people, and it was all a bit soft and bland. My partner's veggie burger was really sad, no cheese, no veg. Chips were good. The orange chocolate cheesecake was terrible, it was full of the white bits as if someone zested too far into the orange. Don't order that. Service was nice and they were helpful in accommodating my request for gluten free food. The hotel: we stayed in a triple, and it was clean and nicely set up. It was quiet and had a lovely view from the front. WiFi only works in the lobby. The breakfast was alright; I had bacon and scrambled eggs, my companions had the veggie breakfast. The mushrooms were burnt to a crisp, but eggs were good. There's not a whole lot to do in this part of Skye, though if you've got a car, there's a one lane road that does a loop across the peninsula that is lovely, if a bit white knuckely. All in all, a good option if you've got a car.

First they sat us down in a lounge/sitting room for "snacks" while we played cards, then we were taken to the dining room for dinner. They presented each course, explaining the preparation, etc. We really enjoyed our experience and the delicious food. Everything was presented beautifully. We stayed in the garden rooms which are a newer addition to the hotel. They had great views. The rooms were clean and they provided goodies in the coffee/tea/refrigerator area. We all really enjoyed our time in Fort Augustus and look forward to visiting The Lovat and Station Road restaurant again.

That was my favorite place to hang out. There was also chairs outside overlooking the lake and it was so quiet and peaceful at night. And there's a little hike behind the hotels to the waterfall. We were so impressed with how well these were cooked. So soft and moist! We were too full for dessert but they had a nice menu of options.
