We just missed the Corran Ferry due to an unforeseen road closure, and thus our lodging across the loch from Corran was impossible to reach., But we found the Bunkhouse just up the way from the ferry crossing. The manager, Alex, said that he had just one room left, and he took the time (it was past closing) to show it to us; he assured us that we would be welcomed even though we were a last minute addition. We found four friends who were biking 320 miles across Scotland who just checked in as well.
This is an "independent" hostel, which means that rooms are for sharingl But the quality here is unlike any hostel we've ever stayed at. Seems very new, with exemplary furnishings and all the modern amenities of road travelers today: generous sized lounge with cooking facilities; warm and comfortable rooms, and plenty of information for trekking through Scotland. The Bunkhouse has great wi-fi, something of a treasure in the Highlands! Considering the cost of most lodging in this area, the bunjkhouse exceeded our expectations. read more
