Both are very limited and MUST be booked well ahead in peak season. We booked ahead and stayed the night. The Castle: A well restored castle, easy to reach as you can drive right up to it, everything in the castle is finished well and it looks great of a day or night. Accommodation: The rooms we had were amazing, all wooden, a lot of room, inside wooden shutters to block out the sun and any rain or sea noise, bathrooms were awesome, bed comfy, the perfect stay for a day or 2. We even had WiFi in out rooms. Dinner/Breakfast: Hand prepared by chefs on site the rood was absolutely amazing! We had a 10 course meal. Everything unique and an interesting yet amazing taste. I suggest it to anyone. Breakfast was delicious, served quickly and it also tasted great. The manager and staff did an awesome job. They were extremely helpful and were a pleasure to deal with. I suggest booking a nights stay here and the meal both dinner and breakfast. A very memorable experience!

I don't know if it was because we'd stayed at a rather minimal place before this, but this place was first rate! My husband and I were given an en-suite room facing the mountains and what little you could see of the sea (Room 1). The employees were also very hospitable and helpful, quickly coming to my aid when I became ill having arrived not 5 minutes before in the parking lot. Of course, no mention of the Sonachan can occur without mention of Finlay, their beautiful collie, who came to greet us upon arrival and stuck to me like Velcro while I recovered. So, to sum up, great location, wonderful service (the fact that they opened the entire B&B for a mere group of 4 is a testament to that), good food (the full English we got in the morning was superb), and a decent price make this an awesome place to go if you're trekking through the Highlands.

I was very impressed with how good the staff were, considering the bar was packed out with yachtsmen (and women!). There's a good range of beers and whiskies - including Mull's own local whisky (Tobermory Single Malt). The menu had plenty of choice on it, and there was a lot of local produce used. My fish and chips was excellent and the price was reasonable. The location is great, right on the seafront in Tobermory - so the hotel has a beautiful outlook of all the boats in the bay, with Calve Island behind and then the hills of the mainland. It would be agreat location to stay in as you could go a walk down to the pier to see the fishing boats coming in, or out to the Aros Park, quite easily so you don't have to rely on having a car or public transport.

It was formerly known as the Harbour Heights hotel It was originally built in the 1930s by the Admiralty as accommodation for their naval training base here, but there are few signs of that heritage remaining other than a few nautical decorations in the bar and breakfast areas. It's been completely renovated in recent times and everything is clean and in good order. It's run by locals who go a long way to make you feel welcomed, and is set back from the bustle of the town so a peaceful night's sleep is practically guaranteed. There is a small bar and restaurant serving locally sourced food - it's fairly standard pub-style food and is perfectly fine but nothing to write home about. I did however like the option of a breakfast muffin with scrambled egg and smoked salmon - not your usual hotel breakfast menu item, and very tasty to boot. The hand pumps in the bar were off when I visited so the choice of beer was pretty narrow. They did have a reasonable selection of spirits and whisky though. All the rooms are en-suite. I had a twin to myself that wasn't huge, but the bathroom was a good size, the room was clean and tidy and everything worked. They also have free wi-fi throughout (yay!), which worked although the signal strength wasn't brilliant, making internitting a rather tedious affair at best. I originally gave it 3 stars but have upped it to 4 because of the friendly and helpful staff, who really made a difference to my stay by producing a phone charger for me when I discovered that I'd left mine at home. Excellent service!

Having visited Tobermory for the icon Balamory Houses, we were more than delighted to have some…read morefood here. Only a 5-minute walk from where we were staying, the yellow outside marks the unmissable location for Josie Jumps house and we also heard they did decent food too. So after taking far too many photos of the outside (the locals started staring), we headed inside and to the lovely little restaurant area. We were greeted and shown to our table, we were a little on the early side before service but that was no issue. The room had various sea themed displays and articles on the walls which were interested to look at, the table was laid out wonderfully although our table of 4 was laid for 2, this was soon rectified. As it was a Sunday we opted for their very well priced 3-course meal, however, we didn't have a choice on the meat for the roast dinner by hey ho. We ordered and the starters came flying out of the door (quick I mean not through the air) and this was delicious, the prawns were perfect and the garlic mushrooms to die for. Roast for mains and this too was perfect in portion size and really nice, the meat was a little dry and not how I have beef but passable. Dessert was divine, a local cheese board for me and was a lovely end to the meal. Overall great food, good service and would defo go back again, oh and reasonably priced.

I remember the friendly staff and was surprise by the newly built/ refurbished premises. The year before 2011 when planning my walk it seemed a dreary run down place and I could not even determine if they did meals. So stayed down the road at Kilchoan House Hotel. The day I entered these now delightful premises was Saturday 7th July 2012 and I was on my way to Corrachadh Mor the most westerly point. Later in the day when I walked back I treated myself to a cream tea. For fuller details look for a book called "The Three Blue Plaques " which is unlikly to be in print before Christmas 2024.
