I highly recommend this place. We were visiting from close to Chicago and felt right at home. The bartender was right on with the cocktails. They were strong and delicious and inexpensive! I stopped in to do a little work while grabbing a quick bite. I opted for the avocado roll, garden roll, and California roll the server recommended a Lucky Buddha to wash it all down, awesome choice! Everything was great until I got to the California roll, in a dunderhead move I forgot that it had crab in it like most places, unlike the old place I went to that didn't have it. I told the staff and they were more than accommodating getting me a kappa roll, I told them that I would gladly pay as it was my fault. As we neared closing time they didn't rush me out and let me finish in peace and let me work. Great job guys! Definitely making Somkit a regular haunt! read more

I visited this place often when it was Touch of Thai and it was awesome. But now that it's Somkit? It's even better. The location is wider and more homey than before somehow. The drink menu has greatly expanded, and the fact that they have added a soda fountain means that you get refills vs. having to order more than one can of soda. I went with my sister for dinner the other night and it was absolutely the bomb. I got cherry pina colada, which was heavenly. My sister had some sort of elderberry mojito, and I liked hers better surprisingly! They were both fantastic though. We always get sushi to share, and this time we went with California, Volcano, and Cubby rolls. Absurdly good, though it takes us very little time to eat them. The sushi comes on beautiful serving boards with wasabi, ginger, and fresh orchids for beauty's sake. It's a feast for the eyes and the mouth. The wait is a little long for your food but when it's that fresh and delicious, you don't even mind. I'm in love with the new location, and I cannot wait to go back with my friends. This has the potential to be THE hip hangout spot for Dixon. read more

Consistently yummy food, no matter what you order. I frequently eat here for lunch time and love their lunch specials (will usually get a roll on the side too). The flavors are always spot on and any noodles I've had are cooked to a perfect consistency. I was just in town for the Gentlemen of the Road festival and honestly didn't know what to expect for my vegan palate but was pumped when my friend suggested Touch of Thai for lunch. The lunch specials are super affordable and delicious too. The staff was friendly and was super familiar with the menu when we asked for some suggestions. I enjoyed the Red Curry dish along with a glass of wine was pleasantly surprised by the quality! I asked for the Native Spicy and they certainly brought the heat too. The menu was very extensive and they also had a great selection of Asian beers and sake too. read more

I ordered the Pepper Steak. The menu describes it as stir fried steak and various vegetables served in a savory sauce. What I got was a bowl of the chewiest meat I have ever eaten in my life with raw vegetables floating in a very thin beef broth. This was a carry out order and I didn't discover it until I got home. We arrived in the afternoon for the tail of the lunch special service. I had the Pepper Beef with the excellent Lumpia appetizer and a nice sauce. My aunt had the Ginger Chicken, which was good, but I could have used more ginger. Excellent Thai iced coffee, although it was premixed - most I have seen are separate layers and you mix them. The food was good, the price is an excellent value, the service was attentive and the spicing (at least for the dishes we tried) is a mainstream spicing, so even my 90ish aunt could enjoy it. I'm sure they could kick up the heat a bit if you want. Storefront dining, my aunt tells me it was an old department store, so an interesting space. Booths are really a bench seat between two tables, so don't lean back too far! We noticed the room really filling up near dinner - good thing, so they stay open and we can go back on our next trip to DIxon. read more

I love Thai food and this is by far the best I have ever had. So far I've had the panang chicken curry and the pad see uw beef . The curry was spot on the chicken was very tender and the red pepper was still a little crisp...perfect. The pad see uw beef is also very tender with crunchy broccoli .The thick caramelized sauce was unlike any I've had . I live a good distance from here but will be making the trip as often as possible. The food is phenomenal, the best food in Dixon, by far. The price isn't too bad either. And since they've added the sushi, it has only made me love this restaurant more. They've redecorated not too long ago, and the interior is much classier now. My dinner a few nights ago was LOADED with chicken, as was the dish my husband ordered. I like the fact that you can have brown rice if you want (for an additional fifty-cents). I agree on the backless seating, but there are only a few table that have that type of arrangement, so be sure to request a table with chairs, unless you like to get up-close and personal with other diners. Very friendly and knowledgable wait staff and sushi chefs. A wonderful selection of rice dishes, noodles dishes, sushi, appetizers and desserts. The interior is beautifully decorated with stylish dinnerware and menus. They have a wonderful selection of beers and wines: Kirin Ichiban, Sapporo & Sapporo Light, Chang, Tsing Tao and of course the domestics such as Bud Light and Miller Light. My personal favorite is the Panang Curry with chicken. Don't pass that one up! The White Dragon Roll is one of a kind and even the soups are delish. 10/10 :) read more

No need to rattle on much about this place..Out of the 4 of us in the family that was here for dinner, not one of us liked the food. To me it seemed obvious much of their food source comes out of a can, so the food is bland and unoriginal. It is quite shocking this place has many positive reviews about the food. Maybe small town folk cant notice food out of a can versus food that is fresh. Or, the cool , trendy asthetics inside lure people into thinking the food must be good. The food that the 4 of us got was pretty damn aweful. Also it's important you know this place is very expensive. So if you're looking for Asian cuisine at a good price, this not the place for you. Found this place on yelp, was craving sushi so, why not? It was GREAT. For an appetizer we had the soft shell crab which was so crunchy on the outside and so soft and had so much flavor on the inside. For our rolls: The Mexican, the dragon, the volcano, and the spider. Honestly, i couldn't tell you which one i liked the best because all four rolls were so dynamite! Everything from the fresh cilantro in the Mexicano roll or the avocado in the spider roll tasted amazing. The only downside is we wished we had ordered more rolls to try ! Really wanted to try this place after seeing such good reviews on Yelp when I was enjoying myself at the wine shop next door that allows you to BYOF. Easy enough to order from next door and enjoy it with a drink/wine. Food was delivered quickly and was hot upon arrival. I just felt it wasn't tasty at all and wasn't the least bit authentic. I did enjoy their spring rolls but that was about it. The convenience was the best part of the experience. Unfortunately my party and I were both not feeling very well immediately after having the food. Would not recommend. Instead check out Bangkok Garden. Was my first time here. Ordered take out, the egg rolls were the small thin skin type. Not my favorite, but the flavor was excellent and they were perfectly fried. I had the chicken Rama. It was very nice. Well blended flavors and the portions were perfect. It didn't have the extremely deep and rich flavors that I've come to expect from Chicago Thai places. But it more than made up for it in the light and refreshing tastes. It is a Japanese and Thai restaurant, so my expectations were not that high because usually places are good at one or the other, not both. I'll be back again! read more

We came with a group of perhaps 20 people. Of course, we had planned this days in advance with the restaurant. Our group all arrived together - essentially within 10 minutes . We were seated together in a long table. Drinks were served, orders were taken and food was delivered promptly. Everyone was satisfied with their meal.
