This is the perfect place to get presents for any occasion. It's where I ended up getting my family's xmas presents. Looks unassuming from the outside, but oh so perfect inside. They have all the snacks you could possibly want. Along with honey, sauces, hot sauce and jerky. It's not like I needed another addiction. But I got one: the Pistachio Mix from this sweet little nut shop in Somis. At first glance, the colorful Somis Nut House's Pistachio Mix looks like the mix sold in other retail stores. But this mix is unlike any I've ever encountered. The coating on these pistachios has been applied so generously the flavor is HUGE. It just don't quit. Delicious AF! The mix includes habanero, garlic, jalapeno and lemon tequila. The flavors compliment each other brilliantly. And don't all muddle together; each is distinct, strong and bright. This trip I also picked up some Butter Toffee Peanuts. These, too, were far from ordinary. When they say "butter" toffee they ain't kidding. You can clearly taste the butter. So wonderful! In addition to stocking every kind of nut you can imagine, Somis Nut House boasts a huge selection of old fashioned candies. Big selection of dried fruit too. And preserves and jams. And BBQ sauces. And honey. One of the things I like best about this place is everything is packaged in small bags, like 1/2 lb packages. Totally affordable prices. Makes me want to try a little bit of everything. Okay if I said I was taking you to a Nut House, what would you picture? A few packages of cashews, some flavored peanuts, maybe even chocolate covered almonds... yes you are right but there's so, so, so much more at Somis Nut house. The location is definitely off the beaten path and outside isn't the most glamorous, but if you put on your brave pants it'll definitely be worth it. Inside you'll find a giant organized room with rows and rows of goodies. There are all sorts of nuts with all sorts of flavors (chili lime peanut, spicy almond) as well as different dehydrated fruits, chocolate covered everything, and nostalgic candy. We left with chili lime haba beans, spicy japanese style nuts, dark chocolate covered almond clusters, and blue sour strip candy. Off the beaten path for sure, if you blink you'll miss it! Be careful entering and exiting the parking lot, give yourself time to merge in and merge back into traffic. Speeders are everywhere, including yourself, don't lie to yourself :) Now if you're looking for something sweet, this is the place for you! BUT diabetics can also join the fun, there is a sugar free section. The sugar free section is tiny compared to the entire store [shelf to your right when you walk in] but there are options to bring home for grandma, grandpa or yourself if you need to stay away from sugar but still want a nice treat. The sugar free items here are JUST as good as the regular things, for me it's the peanut clusters. They didn't have any on my last trip so I hope they continue to stock those. Anyway, you have everything in here from gummies to chocolate and everything in between. Candy coated peanuts? No problem. The white chocolate caramel Pecan clusters here are EVIL. It's a damn shame when you play hide and seek by yourself with your own damn candy cause you're trying to stop eating so much of it... We have been here for treats to take our family, two years in a row, and this place does NOT disappoint. Soooo many nuts! Chocolate covered nuts, butter toffee, honey roasted... and many more. We got them all! The sugar free selection is amazing! almost every candy they make regular, they also have them in a sugar free option. I love sugar free candy because I hate the thought of sugary candy for my teeth... so it's just a personal preference (hard to find) but we also have family members who need the sugar free options/diabetic options so thank you for having such a great selection! The candy selection in general.... Amazing! Caramel, dark chocolate caramel, peanut brittle, rocky road, HONEY COMB(yum) malt balls, taffy, gummy's, toffee,licorice, just everything! Such a cute find!!! I had to deliver for a wedding in Somis, so naturally, I figured I would see what else was in Somis. After all, the hubs was going to drive me there and back from L.A., so I had to find something to make it worth his while. My search online revealed that there wasn't that much to do in Somis, but the Nut House seemed promising, so after our delivery, we stopped by to take a look around. The place is packed all around with nuts of different kinds and flavors. They also have a wide variety of chocolate covered nuts, clusters, candies, jellies, marmalades, hot sauces, jerkies, and, my favorite, assorted sizes of jawbreakers! I don't think we'll intentionally drive out to Somis to buy more nuts, but if we're ever nearby Somis, we'll keep this place bookmarked so that we can go back for more! read more

Came here for a work related reason but was intrigued by the variety of goods. I picked up this Sriracha sauce for myself and a honeycomb with a lot of honey for my mom. Staff was very kind, and although I didn't need any help, I did notice staff being very quick to answer any questions that any customer had. They do have certain things in place for COVID but nothing that gets in the way of purchasing any goods. Would come again even though it is an hour away from my home in Los Angeles. read more

I love Somis since it still retains its rural roots although "big city" Moorpark with its cookie cutter subdivisions is getting awfully close. I keep crossing my fingers that the zoning maintains the status quo, and Somis stays a sleepy, charming enclave. The three stores to visit in the immediate areas are Somis Nut House, Underwood Farms, and Fulkerson Hardware. They all represent Somis well where you can get all sorts of goods and products that reflect a bucolic flavour. Somis Nut House is chock full of all things nuts, and also dried fruits, honeys, jerkies and candies. I love to buy their cashew brittle and mixed nut brittle. The brittle is buttery sweet, and they are not chintzy about the amount of nuts they use. I also am addicted to their Bandit Brand Teriyaki Jerky which is made in Ojai. Also bought some Topanga Raw and unfiltered Honey from Bennet's Honey Farm in Fillmore. On the bottle, it states that their farm is 100% solar powered. I talked to the friendly sister of the brother/sister owners of SNH, and we both agreed of the importance of buying from local sources so the money circulates nearer to home which then benefits the immediate community. (No buying from Walmart whose headquarters are in out-of-state Arkansas and kills local businesses run by people who live locally.) I can't help stress how important it is to buy locally as much as possible, and Somis Nut House tries its best to get the best that is offered as locally as possible. Three cheers for this small brother/sister store. I keep hoping that more people who live nearby & far away will patronize this fun store. read more

They've got hot sauces, licorice, olives, honey, chocolate, and of course...nuts. Can be a little pricey depending on what you are choosing, but their selection is great. My 7 year old well behaved son grabbed a giant jaw breaker thinking it was a ball and the nasty lady working there yelled at him and made him cry. she was absolutely awful. my grandmother and I could not believe an employee would treat a kid the way she did. we also told her we'd pay for the jaw breaker and she charged us for it and didn't even put it in the bag. (not that we wanted to eat it anyway) but it's the principle. I'm furious that my son was treated the way he was. read more

Not very friendly and overpriced. Had a four-year-old with me that needed to use the bathroom very badly. He would not let her use the restroom. (Not the reason for our stop) I happen to know that businesses are required to have restrooms, as I am a business owner, and was required to have my restroom to ADA specifications to meet the needs of any guests. He suggested "I take her out behind the building", sketchy at best. We did come back in and buy something just because I had promised her a fun time and tasty snacks. During the Christmas holiday, I was visiting my folks up in Ventura County. As usual, we were all scrambling to get last minute Christmas shopping done and since I was riding with them, they said they were going to go get some gifts from a nut house. I had no idea that this place even existed. We drove out on the rural roads and stopped in what looked like an old beat up building that I thought was used for farming or something. I would never have guessed from the outside the treasure it contained and would have just passed it by without a notice. But when we went inside, lo and behold, it was nutty heaven, lol!! They sell all kinds of nuts and candies here. The items come in various sized packages as well as gift packages which is what the folks were after. These made good gifts for families or emergency gifts for unexpected visitors. I picked up a few walnuts for $3.99 but it came in larger sizes also. I thought I'd use this for baking cookies or desserts later. This is a really special find and I'd definitely come back again to explore more of their offerings when I have more free time. read more

It doesnt get better than Somis Nut House. Although it doesnt look like much from the outside, the nut house hasnt changed in the 15+ years I've been going here. The products are always fresh and have very competitive prices. There are some things that I can't find anywhere but at the Somis Nut House. Not living in the area anymore, I make sure to keep room in my suitcase for my visit to the nut house because there are always my go to purchases- honey roasted peanuts, trail mix, coconut cashew brittle, beef jerkey and maple nut goodies (and of course a few more last minute purchases). I highly suggest stopping into this beaten down old house, you will be in for a real treat...or 2! read more

I received a gift box of mixed nuts from the Somis Nut House for Christmas. The pistachios were amazingly tasty, so much I decided to drive to Somis and buy some more. The nice lady showed my the exact pistachios that were inside the gift boxes. They will not let you sample? Why? I bought two of the large bags and some cashews and drove home. I opened the bag and much to my surprise they are old and tasteless. Nothing like the gift box, and they were expensive. I called the nice lady and told her about the low quality nuts, and she said they all come from the same 50lbs barrel? She had no explanation? If I could've sampled before I bought I would've left the store. I could buy that quality of pistachio at a grocery store. Did anyone ever think to sample all the levels of the barrel instead of the top? A grower very well could place the good quality pistachios on the bottom and better ones on the top? Who would know? A good way to get rid of old stock? The store is very nice inside, but I feel I've been baited and switched. I will not be going back. Sorry. read more
