Martin, the installation angel!…read more We moved into a new place in Capitol Hill in the beginning of August. The place was adorable as most Capitol Homes are but also quite tiny. We didn't have any storage so our entire premise for moving in was built around being able to hang our bikes on the room in our den. Upon moving in we quickly learned that the walls were a mix of plaster and brick and too difficult for us to work with. I was completely distraught not knowing what we'd do. We found Martin and he was like angel sent from above and solved all of our installation woes. I called him and got his voicemail which instructed me to email him. I emailed him, left a voicemail the next day as a reminder and then he got back to me by email. His prices were around what others were charging (a little less which was a perk) but what sold us was that he had availability a few days later. He confirmed he was coming the day before and let me know by text when he was on his way. He worked quickly and cleaned up each room when he was done. We had him install 3 bike shelves plus 7 other things in total. Along the way he found plaster, dry wall, wood, cinder block, and brick. Martin made our home exactly how we wanted it to be. If you live in an old home and feel wary about hanging things, give Martin a call!

I talked to Eric and he was fantastic! He was able to get his team in quickly, the work was performed far beyond anything I'd expected, and both he and his on-site foreman were very responsive. We had two challenges, both of which Eric and his team overcame with speed, quality delivery, and excellent customer service. We were working on a tight timetable, so I was receiving store fixtures while construction was ongoing. Eric and his team were able to work around this without any problems. Second, my initial flooring choice became unavailable between the time I selected it and ordering. When this happened, Eric and I went down to Home Depot together and found another option that looked better, was higher quality, and cost less. I cannot recommend Eric and A&E construction enough! 100% would use again. In fact, I have some upcoming work that I need to do on my home. I bid this job to five other companies, but I'll just be reaching out to Eric directly on that one.

Our project was as close to a gut renovation as you could get without demoing the whole place. The project turned out amazing and was done within 2 months. We moved walls, changed flooring, the entire kitchen, stairs and rail system, new ceilings, paint, trim, and so much more. On top of the great work, he provides a warranty on all his work. I highly recommend A&E for any project. I won't use any other contractor besides them.

This review has been a long time coming, and I meant to write it 4 months ago -- but life happens…read more Wow, where do I start? First and foremost, we are incredibly grateful that we happened to connect with Anthony from VR Home Renovation by chance. Our water heater burst and flooded our home. Since this was on the third floor, it caused damage to all the other floors -- including the subfloors, ceilings, walls, and electrical systems. We were absolutely devastated when we couldn't find anyone available to help. The options we found were either extremely expensive or had no availability at all. After tirelessly searching and calling around, we finally connected with Anthony. He provided us with a bid the same day and was able to start the very next day! We were blown away by his responsiveness and professionalism. From that moment on, he kept us informed about every step, providing clear timelines and updates, requesting permits and taking care of everything. He and his team were incredibly organized and efficient. Thanks to Anthony, our stressful situation was made so much easier. We didn't have to hire anyone else -- he took care of everything, and at a very reasonable price. Our flooring, which had to be specially ordered, was originally expected to take three months, but Anthony did the impossible and got it to us within weeks. We are truly thankful for Anthony and his team. You are in GREAT hands with them -- they made a difficult time so much more manageable, and we couldn't recommend them more! 1000% we would hire them back.

We sought estimates from other contractors but we felt none of them measured up to H&C in terms of their professionalism, customer service, and attention to detail. They have a deep and talented team that was incredibly knowledgeable and responsive to all of our questions no matter how small or complex. Even from the very beginning, before we had finalized a design or signed a contract, Luis and his team's responsiveness and professionalism always made us feel as though we were a valued client. That continued throughout the entire process as we worked with them to develop a design that fit within our budget. Fabio was assigned as our project manager and we couldn't be more thankful for him! He was on top of every last detail and when we had two unforeseen issues come up during demolition, he was quick to provide us a thorough assessment of the issue, several options, and his professional recommendation. It was extremely evident that Fabio and his crew that were here every day were a strong team and it was reflected in their daily communications, their craftsmanship, and their meticulous attention to detail. We'll definitely recommend H&C to our friends and family for any remodeling projects. We're looking forward to enjoying our new kitchen for years to come!

I did not have a good experience at all with this company. First, they changed project managers on…read moreme just before they came out to do that work without explanation. When the work started, they moved at a glacier pace with erratic attendance. There were days they did not show up at all, other days they would show up unexpectedly at 7am, and leave at 10am. This was never communicated with me. Next, mistakes started happening. They painted the walls the wrong color. They put up the shower door on the wrong side. They also put up the window blind backwards so I couldn't reach or use the rod to open and close it. After the shower door went up backwards, the project manager fired the workers, but the had no one to finish the work. When they finally came back to fix the shower tiles wrecked when the door went up on the wrong side, they didn't align the replacement tile patterns with each other so the pattern is disjointed and doesn't line up at all. The project manager told me it's not supposed to line up!? After complaining about it 3 times, they finally offered to replace the tiles. But they stalled on ordering them and now it's out of stock. There are also other problems - the shower faucets are not properly secured to the shower walls, the vanity light is separating from the wall and the light switch fixture is also separating from the wall. The floor tile is irregular with grout lines sometimes thick in places, other times nonexistent. Currently, they are not returning my calls or texts. I've even reached out to the owner who came out and promised to fix everything, but commented that I was overly concerned with "small" details. Now he has not returned my calls or texts about when he will come to fix things. Maybe I am concerned with details but I'd think that is common when paying 20k to have a bathroom redone according to an approved plan. At the very least, I expected that shower tile patterns would match up and that things would be well grouted or secured in shower and on walls. This was my first renovation in my first home and I'm so disappointed in how it turned out and how I was treated by the team. Also, this 2 week project took 5 and 1/2 weeks to get to where it is now. Overall the project was done carelessly with no attention to detail and with no acceptance of their mistakes and no attempt to repair the problems identified. I see they have had good reviews in the past, but my project did not go well at all. I would definitely recommend choosing another company. When I first complained they asked me not to write a bad review and I said that along as everything was fixed we had a deal. Nothing has been fixed and they are not communicating with me. I know have to either pay another company more money to fix their mistakes or take legal action to resolve the simple issues that could be easily fixed. If detail and having a project done to your liking is important I would not recommend H&C at all.

Amazing contractor!!!…read more Lawrence and his crew did a complete renovation of our basement to build an apartment for my parents. From the design through completion, it was a great experience. I found them here on Yelp and I obtained 3 quotes for the job. I had the quotes reviewed by an independent contractor who told me L&R's quote was what the job should reasonably cost. I called 4 references who all had a similar and very positive experience. Lawrence always communicated with me about schedule which had not been the case with other contractors. They were there working on my job every day, not showing up once or twice a week like some others. Any fluctuation to schedule or budget was discussed and agreed upon by both parties. We had a couple of unexpected plumbing delays but that was due to the original build not being up to the current code. I changed direction on a couple of design decisions and Lawrence was right there with me. The work was exceptional and the end product is amazing. I have had the nightmare contractor experience so was very cautious. This was exactly as the process should be and I plan to have them back in the fall to do more work. I give them my highest recommendation!
