The Ruben is good, love the 1/2 sandwich and soup options. Salads and daily specials are tasty, too. Pies - fantastic! The one notable exception is the Thursday chicken and dumplings. The dumplings aren't true dumplings just flat strips of pastry cooked in the soup, which was lukewarm and bland. Pepper would not go amiss.

They were randomly closed I think to lack of employees. I could be wrong, but now I would say seventy percent of the time they don't have boba and or they are out of milk tea. You used to be able to choose the amount of sugar they add and now they said their Thai milk tea is a powder that comes pre sweetened. Sad to say I won't be going there much if at all anymore which sucks because it had really good boba milk teas and it's the closest one. A sad farewell, but not the end of the world.

Our daughter is obsessed with ice cream, so when another Houston family told us about Blue Bell in…read moreBrenham and the $1 ice cream, we had to make the trip. It's about 1.5 hours from Houston, but it turned out to be a really fun family outing. The visitor center has Blue Bell history, vintage ice cream equipment, a viewing area for the production line, and plenty of cute photo spots. But honestly, we came for the ice cream. The $1 servings were surprisingly generous. We tried Mango, Birthday Cake, Homemade Vanilla, Salted Caramel Brownie, Triple Chocolate, and even a no-sugar-added flavor. Birthday Cake was our daughter's favorite, while I liked the Salted Caramel Brownie the most. My only complaint is that there isn't enough here to justify the drive by itself. I'd definitely combine it with exploring Brenham. Still, if you love Blue Bell or just really love ice cream, it's absolutely worth visiting once. And yes, we ate way too much ice cream.

I appreciate the response, and I understand that you do not maintain a public restroom. But I think…read moreyour response misses the point of my review. This was not someone walking in off the street asking to use your facilities. She was part of a group that had just purchased four servings of ice cream, and she was 8 1/2 months pregnant. You say that "customer safety supersedes all." What potential harm to anyone's safety would have resulted from making a one-time exception and allowing a woman who was 8 1/2 months pregnant to use the restroom? In response to the owners reply: I understand that businesses have rules and regulations to follow. But there is also room in life for judgment, compassion, and basic human decency. If there truly was a legal prohibition that left your staff absolutely no discretion, that is one thing. But simply saying "we're not allowed" does not explain how allowing a heavily pregnant paying customer to use an employee restroom would have endangered her, your staff, or anyone else. The ice cream was good. The staff was otherwise friendly. My criticism remains exactly what it was: when presented with an unusual and very human circumstance, your business chose rigid adherence to a rule over a small act of kindness. I found that disappointing. We ended up going around the corner to Lucy's who behaved in a manner in every way that your business didn't. Very poor form.
