Cudo had an awesome voucher for Sombreros.
$49, 2 entrees, 2 mains and 2 drinks.
Before I get started, have to say I'm a California native so I've had my share of Mexican meals - so I'm a bit biased.
Decor - nothing special. Had the typical Mexican flair but nothing to stand out. Reminded me of the dirty yet amazing taquerias in San Francisco.
Service - 5 stars here. Restaurant was semi-busy but we always felt there was someone around if we needed something.
Food - hmmm where to begin.
Trio of dips - normall $19.90
We went with the chili con queso, frijol and guac
Chips are made on site - not amazing but no real complaints - Frijol (beans) and guac were perfect. The chili con queso was sucked up quickly by my partner but I shunned it after a single bite. It looked like a red soup of oil. Not chili con queso.
Enchilada - flavour was missing. Another no go for me.
Chimichanga - I've had a fair share of these in my time and this one, while a different shape than I'm used to, was pretty good.
Coronas were about $7 a piece - not bad for Cronulla.
Overall I really have no complaints and I'd recommend anyone that either hasn't had a lot of Mexican food or those missing it a lot give it a try. nothing special but not a let down.
That said, if you really have a hankering for a burrito or taco - guzman y gomez or beach burrito cafe are decent options. read more
