Good Mexican is always hard to find and this spot is well hidden on level 6 of Westfield building. This level reminded me of an airport terminal. We started with corn chips with a bean dip. The corn chips were clearly fresh and that made a big difference. Really yum and the dip was perfect to match. Next up was grilled corn with a creamy butter coriander sauce. This was nothing special. Was more looking for something a little bit spicer considering its a Mexican. The ancient grain salad was served. This salad contained quinoa, broccoli, pumpkin, chia and pomegranate seeds with a tequila sauce. This was a great choice on the menu and definitely would choose this one again. For the mains we selected Beef enchiladas and Cod. The beef enchiladas was pretty good but not exceptional and was a little light in the meat department. The cod was not what you would traditionally expect from a Mexican so figured it was a good choice to go with. It turned out to be a stellar one. The cod was beautiful and had a nice smoky sauce to go with it. Amazingly there was room for dessert and decided to opt for the Chilli Brownie. The brownie was made with dark chocolate and didn't have that overly heavy after feeling that you get from some desserts. Just didn't really notice the chilli in it though but still nice. Tried a variety off the menu today and really enjoyed ourselves. The beef and pork tacos were yum and juicy. Guac and corn chips were tasty and zesty. Crab croquette were good and well worth the price ($20 for 4). Wasn't a huge fan of the oysters, and the chicken wings were good but not as good as the tacos and croquettes. We tried the corn semolina for dessert and I think I was craving something sweet and this wasn't! Otherwise we really enjoyed our meal and we'll be back for sure with friends. read more

After travelling to the states where its pretty much the closest thing to getting authentic mexican, it has been a tough task to find something close in Sydney. I must say the food here good. We started off with guacamole and freshly made corn chips. For our mains we ordered the pork belly and calamari. The pork belly was sensational, melted in your mouth with the right flavours, however the calamari was a little bland, a poor choice on our part. Would come back here in a heartbeat! read more

Tolerable tacos. We all know how weak the Mexican food scene is downunder. But it's human to love tacos. So our choices become, make at home, travel to Mexico, get so drunk the pub tacos taste good. I was looking for a fourth option that also included table service. Then I was handed a $25 all you can eat taco flyer. Hence this review. They are at least tying here and the tacos are tolerable. Generous serves even. Nice topping touches such as shredded lettuce and crisped carrot strips. Best bite of food was the plantain from the lentil/veggie taco. If you are looking for a fixed price group dinner on Saturday or Sunday the $25 taco fest may be as good as we get in this Latin-American challenged ciudad! read more

Being Mexican, I thought I would probably be disappointed by Mexican food cooked in Australia, and my expectations were not high. However, I was proved wrong! We ate here, because my kids were clamoring for something other than "fish and chips" and "pizza/pasta". We ordered the Tacos de Carnitas. The meat was very well seasoned/marinated and it was soft. The tacos were served with a pineapple sauce/topping that made them DELICIOUS! The sweetness of the pineapple blended very well with the pork. We also ordered the Guacamole (which had a non-traditional sprinkling of pomegranate seeds), which was very creamy and had an excellent flavor, and a unique crunch with the additional sprinkling of the pomegranate seeds and the sampling of the hot sauces. One of the hot sauces, the one with Habanero was extremely hot, great flavor, and so addicting, I could not stop eating it! Also, the habanero sauce went very well with the Carnitas tacos. Note: My recommendation for the habanero sauce would be to tame it a bit, I think it might be too spicy for the local taste. They also had an all you can eat Taco special for AU$25 and lunch specials advertised. It was also a bit expensive at $8 for each taco de carnitas, but considering how far Mexico is from here, I imagine buying the supplies, must be quite expensive and Mexican food is more of an exotic cuisine. I also want to note that the menu is not traditional Mexican food, all dishes had their own unique twist, but putting that aside, the guacamole, carnitas and habanero hot sauce were amazing! read more

Level 6 in the Westfield mall gets you away from the noise and chaos with the food hall on level 5. The Mexican restaurant a lovely riot of colour and a sense of space. We opted for the 7 taco tasting for $30 and this was filling for two adults ... The taco's were soft and the fillings varied but by far the taco that got our vote was the fish taco. Beautiful and extremely good Mexican flavours here in Sydney! Scallop carpaccio is one of the finest with incredible depth and highly recommended. Tacos were great too. Other reviews have said that good Mexican is hard to find, and I certainly agree with them. This is not good Mexican. The service is slow and unhelpful, and we were the only table with customers on it. The area doesn't create a good atmosphere, we were out the front of the restaurant which feels like the departure lounge of an airport, which at least gave us a view of the kitchen and of the mall for people watching. The food was fine, the cocktails ditto. Nothing special, but just what you'd expect for a food hall in a mall. Shame this is supposed to be a full restaurant. read more

Terrible. Where's the spice ? Where's the chili ? Had a few dishes including the "los vida famous fish" taco and the tuna ceviche. Ok base flavors but that's it. We came here for a friends party. Firstly it's way over priced for what you get one little taco for $8 is a bit to much, plus the menu has nothing on it making me feel wanting more from a Mexican restaurant. Plus when paying make sure you count your money before you go up because they try to rip you of by giving incorrect change not cents but by dollars. Great food and generous portions. They make awesome cocktails. I enjoyed the ribs which were tender and fell off the bone. The salad was amazing and their tacos are really nice too. They have indoor seating and are located inside Westfield. It is about 10 minutes walk to the train station. There are shopping centre toilets nearby. You can dine without a booking but I recommend making a booking if you have a large group. read more

The Los Vida venue in Crow's Nest was perfect for drinks. I went with friends and we had so much fun. Didn't have to line up for drinks at all because there's two bars which makes things easy! It is a relaxed place and the venue itself is beautiful with really cool ceilings. read more

Went here the first time late on Thursday and the food and service was seriously lacking. Had the chicken enchilada and was not a fan while my friend was trying to not give me death stares as I asked to come here. Came here again much earlier on the groupon and it was great! Grain salad was the highlight and very unique. Corn was smaller than expected but nice. Pork and beef mains were soft and good. The churros was the most disappointing. It was doughy and stodgy. Luckily there wasn't much and we were full by then. Would go there again for the grain salad for sure. read more

What they advertise as a large bowl is in fact a small one. I was expecting to be filled up for $13. Far from it. The food was okay.

Very, very disappointing service. My group of 8 was seated at 12.10pm and by the time it hit 1.30pm, 1 complete meal was still missing! (a taco dish). The meals that did arrive during the 1 hour 20 mins we were there, came out sporadically and some were finished before the next lot arrived. Finally, the decision was made to cancel the rest and leave. The food was nice but not worth it. We won't return and certainly would not suggest this place to anyone else. It's so refreshing to find good Mexican in Sydney. The closet thing I'd had outside of Mexico was in Chula Vista, San Diego and I had to order in Spanish. That was goooood. And Los Vida was also bloody amazing! Didn't have to order in Spanish either! The waiters and waitresses were super helpful and suggested food and drinks to eat, I'm especially picky about this because there's so many things I cannot eat!! Tasted super fresh and each dish had a nice combination of flavours. We shared some oysters (OMGGGGGG! SOOO GOOD!), ceviche which I could eat all day, a tuna steak that was cooked to perfection, fish tacos (the famous fish and the yucatan) with a grain salad and a margarita each. The margaritas were fresh on the tongue and I could have definitely drank more, however...sometimes you have to drive! We came here for a late lunch on the weekend, using a Groupon special. It was pretty quiet, I might imagine it would be a more popular spot on weekdays for lunch. We really enjoyed the food, and I would go so far as to say that it was more authentic than most Mexican food I have had in the US. The bean dip was great, and we liked the variety of chips that came with it. I also had the grain salad, which was very good. We had enchiladas and a quesadilla for our mains, which were good but if I went again I'd probably try something else. The desserts were delicious, I could come back just for the brownie!
