When I was changing afterwards the cleaner kept coming in the change room and making me move my belongings. I felt like I was inconveniencing her. She did it several times. That area is small to begin with. Not what I had expected. Very disappointed Palliser.

It's a full service spa, you get a locker with robe, slippers and sauna access. No pool. Single vanity area with hair dryer, q-tips, hair ties, etc. Bring your own brush. I'll review what I have tried: Facials - man, no one does it better. They tuck you into an electronically warmed blanket. I like my facials to really do the nitty gritty, get all my pores cleansed and tightened. This means extractions. And if you have no idea what extractions are like, well maybe you don't want to. If you do, you'll know how tedious and painful it can be. Well S.E.S has it down to an art. They have special tools for extractions that they constantly clean. I know this because they constantly spray down their tools with alcohol. I can hear it and smell it while in between being in pain. They exfoliate - steam - extract - cleanse - mask - tone. The whole shebang and they don't even charge you extra like some other places. In between waiting times while your face is soaking up the mask? They massage your hands. Body scrub - pretty neat concept and makes your whole body feel like you just came from the womb. Seriously. The only thing that stops me from getting this service more often is the fact that I have to lay there naked while two women scrub me all over while I am laying in an open capsule. After the scrub they close the capsule (head outside) and the water jets spray you down. There's a good resting period where it warms up like a sauna and you are totally encased in a good steam. There's light therapy that goes on so your body is illuminated in techno colored lights. The whole techie capsule thing is quite the experience. Weight loss - yes. I tried it. I could only bring myself to try it a handful of times. Hard to explain, they offer target area treatments, and hook a massage device up to a machine. There's light therapy added to the rolling device that they use and treat your choice of area for x amount of time. They log your measurements after every session. I effectively lost an inch (no I am not going to disclose where) but of course gained it all back in three fold. Not my fault they are across from a DQ. Massage - I've never heard of lumbar. I've never heard of pressure point massages. All I know is that it works and I always feel great afterwards. I'll leave it up to them to explain the sorcery behind all of that, but I will tell you that I can never stay away through a whole session. They won't make small talk if you don't want to. I love it. Yes, they do insurance claims. Eyelash extensions - no, they aren't advertising much of this like other places. I'm guessing because they are so extremely booked for extensions they don't need to. Natural looking, yup. Longer fuller doll looking, yup. The technician who is also the owner, Sandy has been doing this before all the lash places became a thing. Why she never got recognition as one of the first people in Calgary to be doing extensions is beyond me. She knows her stuff. Perfect set all the time. Parking is situated at the back, through the alley. It shares a small lot with the condos upstairs and another spa right next door (I don't understand this). You can enter from the back by ringing the doorbell. There's also street parking, free on the weekends. Review #4 of Yelp's 30 Day Challenge 2012

Quick summary: Sandy at European Spa performed my facial three weeks ago and I have permanent…read morescaring on my cheeks from her overly deep extractions! I would not recommend this place to anyone. I had clear, acne-free skin without any scars prior to my visit. I am deeply disappointed. My experience: I frequent a different salon on a regular basis and never experienced scarring before. My skin was clear before my facial at European Spa and now I'm waiting for a visit to my dermatologist to hopefully remove the extraction scars. I have since cancelled future appointments and informed them of the situation, where I was not offered any solutions. During the facial, I noticed it was more painful than my regular visits with my other spa. Sandy even warned me that the next couple of extractions were going to be painful since they were deep. When the facial was finished, my face had many blood spots and was very red. I thought the dark spots would go away within a couple weeks, but it has now been three weeks and my scaring is permanent. After further research, I've since learned "extractions are a good way to rid your skin of blackheads -- not whiteheads -- but don't let the aesthetician go too deep. A good practitioner will back away from anything not coming out easily." In sum, I do not recommend European Spa for facials.

Had I thought about doing this even one day ahead of the meeting, I would have been able to book a blissful 90 minute service with super skilled therapist "Emily" versus the 30 minutes of what was left of her time when I called a mere 20 minutes before! The facility is small but perfectly cozy and amenable to all of your needs including organic teas (with the coolest steeping devices I have ever seen and that is coming from a "tea snob"!) and cookies in the waiting lounge, five shower heads in the stalls (that was a first for me) and a scrumptious steam room with what smelled like a combo of rosemary and orange oils sifting thru my senses. None of this would have mattered however if the massage I booked were lousy. Quite the contrary, Emily was...and I say this with a decent amount of experience behind me in this regard, thee BEST massage I've ever had hands down (no pun intended)!!! Not only was the pressure just precisely what I needed for my chronically aching lower back, she used no annoying elbows or otherwise jolting body parts to make her point. Here's the huge kicker: I ordinarily find any sort of conversation beyond "how's the pressure?" during a massage to be the opposite of relaxing. I actually had a good conversation with Emily *while* being perfectly relaxed; didn't even know that was possible. Though with the exchange rate, the 30 minutes + facility use was on the steeper end, this was definitely a "you get what you pay for" kind of deal that was for the best. And besides, I was on vacation! Such a shame I live 25,000km away.

Jenifer was absolutely perfect masseuse. When we checked in we were asked to choose out " breakfast" on our itinerary it said breakfast i was expecting breakfast. But our choices were brunches and everything was spicy of some sorts srirachas Etc. My sister and I have stomach issues we can't eat any spice so we opted for a charcuterie board and we split it between the two of us. There was a lot of stuff on the charcuterie board but nothing you could possibly eat for a "breakfast" it was more of a brunch with no breakfast food. We left most of it behind as we couldn't eat that for breakfast as our first meal of the day. So we were out of our massages by 10:00 we were allowed to go into the hot tub but there was a sign that said you could only be in the hot tub for 15 minutes so there's 15 minutes taken up, but then we still had to wait till 11:30 for some food i don't know about you but as an older person I have to eat before that. So what do you do while waiting for any type of nourishment in a spa. We decided to ask for our meal sooner than later so that we could leave when the charcuterie board arrived we just looked at each other thinking there isn't anything we could possibly eat on here for breakfast. We ate the grapes and a couple of crackers and left the rest which for $58 for two Sparkling Waters and one charcuterie board that was very small i just didn't think it was worth the money. So I feel that if you're going to go to a spa get a great massage and possibly a meal that is deserving of a spa for that much money go somewhere else where your money goes further. The price of 175 for a massage and 58 dollars for food not edible for breakfast plus tips close to 500 for 2 ppl it wasn't worth it to me.

My facial was the weirdest, cringiest, awful spa experience ever. It was so crazy- I was confused and just wanted it to end. And then she placed the wipe over my face for an extended time at one point! It felt like she was just trying to do things to fill the hour... she just slapped some lotion on that didn't even smell good and then roughly wiped it off and then I think she put one of those dollar store sheet masks on (right from the tinfoil package) and continued to dump the remaining liquid on my face. She kept shining the very bright light in my eyes, it would be so bright and then she turned it off and turned it on and off - nothing covering my eyes... it was not relaxing! She did some weird massage that wasn't a Massage. She just basically poured baby oil in my hair and then poked around a bit. It was horrible- almost hilarious as it was unbelievable.
