Nestled into the back of a largely empty lot and housed in a what appears to be an old warehouse,…read moreone might think that Wild Card won't have much going on and one would be flat wrong. We were fortunate enough to visit WC on the August Bank Holiday weekend and there was much fanfare, fuss and fabulous brews. Picnic tables dot the front of the brewery along with a street food stand. Jerk chicken and bhangra burgers were on the menu during our stay. Inside the brewery is a small bar with WC's three beer on tap. I recall tasting their ruby ale and the very hoppy IPA. The third choice escapes me. Kegs of guest beers from local breweries stood off to the side and a fridge with the bottled selection stood back behind the counter. My partner had a lovely hazelnut brown ale and I had an outstanding cardamom stout. Both were just the right amount of nut and spice. Fever Tree products for the non-drinker in our group seemed to satisfy. At dusk the interior lights were dimmed and out came many, many candles. Their glow made for a very intimate and cosy vibe. I enjoyed sitting and sipping while chatting with my seat mates. And from the looks of it, everyone else in the joint did, too! What I enjoyed most about Wild Card was that it seemed to be a place that attracted folk from all walks of life. There were young and old, hip and square, families and singles all enjoying a brew and a chin wag. I would recommend those beer lovers up in the N17 and N16 areas (and those keen on a taking a wee trek) to get on over to Wild Card. I hardly think one would be disappointed.

Quality/Quantity - Small simple menu done very well. Including the beer, good beer! My self made flight was good. I was worried that I ordered too many... All my beers were good. Can I suggest adding flights to your menu? Guest beers are also offered, see picture. Kegged wines, wines on tap. Pizza was great, sorry if I offended the "chef" by asking for parmesan cheese. I guess extra parmesan cheese is an Italian thing, not a UK thing...? We ordered the sweet potato, stilton & walnut pizza. Gluten free and vegan options are also available. Atmosphere - Amazing space, huge, indoor/outdoor, two stories, etc. Also outdoor on the river. Lounge area, picnic tables, "pallet" benches, barrel tables, etc. Semi open kitchen, see picture. Good people watching space. You can walk to the other breweries if you want to try more. Plenty of clean bathrooms on both floors. Also thanks for the outside/separate sinks in the upstairs restrooms. Dog friendly. Monthly events. DJ's on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Service - Menus and prices clear and plentiful. Hit and miss, but that's okay because I am drinking good beer and fairly easy going. Cool inclusive culture, see picture. Reservations available for groups of 4 or more. Price - 24 pounds + tip. Owner Comment - FYI, your website link on Yelp does not work for me...? But I can find it via Google.

I settled on the Kashmiri dal and whilst I was skeptical the bartender assured me it was delicious. And she was spot on although deeming it pizza is a misnomer: it's more of a crispy flatbread. Anyway the flavours were delicious!!! I was really skeptical of how the dal, banana slices and chili flakes would all go together but it was spicy, fragrant and tough to not eat all in one go (got it for takeaway). Really cool space on the canal as well with lots of seating indoors and a bit more limited outdoors. Almost right across from the overground. Plus dog-friendly!!

The Red Lion - These lamb-chops were as drool-worthy in real life as they are in this photo!

The portions are generous and tasty and all the times I've taken others down, they have been equally impressed, even family members with lots of opinions! The bar is good and its open late with a Dj on some evenings and a pub quiz on Mondays. The garden is huge and they have an outdoor cinema in the summer and frequent craft fairs and craft beer/cider festivals. I can't review this place without a mention of their new years parties which have been amazing the last two years. They're themed and fancy dress is encouraged. The large back area has a marquee and outdoor bar. There's always a great atmosphere. The real perk as a local, is its easy to stagger home!

Settled in on a dewy Saturday evening (as in, the clouds opened about an hour into our meal) for a delicious pub dinner of steak onglet and lamb chops. A little disappointed by my "side salad", which really consisted of a handful of limp watercress, BUT, the steak was cooked to perfection and those chips ... errmygawd those chips!!! So, so good. Lamb chops were the real winner though, and paired with a glass of Cote du Rhone, we were set for the evening - even when it began to rain. Staff were so nice and apologetic about running out of my first choice (err, the lamb chops - I was generous and let my husband have his!) and replacing it with the steak instead. Rare to find in any pub, let alone one this far east! Definitely worth stopping by - live music on select evenings and the big space means it doesn't get crowded too easily.

And the opening hours extend to only 11:00pm on a Friday and Saturday, so it's not ideal for a longer drinking session. Despite this, Tap East does get in some very good beer from local and International breweries. It boasts 16 taps and a selection of over 100 bottles in the fridges. In addition to this, they have their own microbrewery in situ, often offering their in-house range on cask. The beers on offer are always rotating and you'll find a good range of styles represented. It's a cosy little corner of a bar, offering some outdoor seating as well. The staff are usually quite knowledgeable of their range and there's a small menu of nibbles available. It's usually quite busy, but you won't have to wait too long to get a seat. Despite the downside of its position in Westfield, Tap East is still worth a visit to see what's on offer. I have found some rare iterations here and their own beer is also solid.

The dining room area is also quite spacious and the eggshell-blue walls are soothing. The lovely ceiling frieze indicates this must once have been a parlour or hall of some sort. But the bar service, where I ordered, already lends to one negative star. I ordered the veggie burger (sweet potato, kidney beans, mushrooms, hummus) and asked for no cucumber or chips with it and the barman with scraggly black hair made a face of sorts and raised his eyebrow. Seriously? I really don't care what your opinion is of my order; your job is to take it. So per usual, terrible customer service rears its face in London. The burger arrived quickly and whilst presented OK, it tasted good but not great. The burger is held together well with beans jutting out and is a good portion size; the taste of mushrooms is subtle, but it just lacked enough oomph. It's also laughable how the menu notes rocket is on the burger and there were literally two leaves. It's leaves you sated but for £9.50, it's not something I would get again or advise other fellow veggies to get. Also the rest of the menu is boring pub fare; the online (and therefore wrong) menu is much more exciting.

I travel around London to find the perfect burger and I must say for pub food this burger wasn't bad at all!! One thing let me down is that I asked for BBQ sauce and got HP sauce, now I don't know if its because they thought it was BBQ or the fact that its the same colour but that minor fault is the only fault I have. Great staff great beer.
