Once inside you are in pub heaven with a traditional looking lounge at the front, you almost walk into the bands as you enter the pub but there's plenty of seating to enjoy the music from a safe distance too. You pass through another section before the place opens up to the main bar at the back. It has quite a continental feel to it, and I can't believe I didn't immediately spot the massive vats at the back - I was too busy admiring the statues on the bar. And it's difficult not to be tempted by the selection of beers when in a brewery and I didn't regret my choice of Achtung. They also serve food and while the main menu is limited to sausage rolls and pies you can also order pizza or sushi which is delivered directly to your table by local takeaways. Their Early Doors IPA was always likely to be my favourite, but I also enjoyed Dark Matter, 2 O'clock Ordinary and their Weissbier called Achtung! Good brewery. We stayed long enough to warrant some food. The burgers looked delicious, but we decided to go for 3 snacks for a tenner. The decor is beautiful now*. It's a kind of posh country gastropub look. As my boyfriend said, it's how his mum would decorate a cottage. Also some ubiquitous vintage teacups on tables with tealights or little plants in. I'm normally a bit cynical about such a look, but it was all so high-spec, shiny and new that it did look lovely and I enjoyed it in the candlelight. The service was strange - ignored for ages at the bar but then bothered by several different waitresses while we ate - all trying too hard to check we were ok, take my drink when I hadn't finished, and ask if we'd ordered. But I put that down to first night teething troubles. The menu is surprisingly dull and limited given the more gastropubby look that they have gone for. About 10 boring tasting plates (mini burgers, salt beef and pickles on bread, sausages in honey etc) and 8 or so predictable mains (fish and chips, steak etc). We had 4 nicely presented tasting plates and they were fine, but only fine. I prefer the Wandle, just 2 mins up the road, but because of its proximity to the station (just across the road - less than a minute's walk) and my home, I'm sure I'll be in again. If someone wanted to take a date or parents for a drink somewhere smart-ish in Earlsfield, this could be a good bet. They not only have a huge selection of gin, they also have a wide variety of Fever Tree tonics. For our first round, I chose for my mom - the Monkey 47 - Schwarzwald Dry Gin with the Fever Tree Spiced Orange Ginger Ale. For myself, I picked a heavy herbal gin with an F.T. Elderflower tonic. On my second drink, I ordered the Audemus Pink Pepper Gin with the F.T. Aromatic Tonic. By the time my family came by, we ordered two plates of the mini meat pies as an appetizer, a few cokes, beers and had an in-between lunch and dinner meal that was satisfying.
