For people living in this area, this place seems to have been around for a while...but that's only because this place was initially set up as a pop-up bar during the Olympics season, as a watering hole for people looking for a nice drinking establishment in an area that is sorely lacking any. Last August, this place went permanent, and my curiosity had been piqued for a long time on what the place was like but I never made it there until this past weekend. I mean, Leyton isn't quite on the nightlife map so one really does not end up passing by this pub unless it's planned. I have been curious about this neighbourhood, to see whether it is facing the alleged Shoreditchification mentioned in this article (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/men/thinking-man/10561607/Why-this-Shoreditchification-of-London-must-stop.html). Frankly, I wouldn't mind some of such parts of East London turning a bit hipster so I went and checked it out.
And how cool is this place, especially for Leyton :) Charming decor - lampshades, kitsch-chic sofas & chairs. A wide range of craft beer, a respectable wine list for VERY reasonable prices, a food menu that makes me want to come back to check it out. And a buzzing atmosphere which hints at many interesting conversation on art, film and music...I like it! I'll be back :) read more
