Brooksby's Walk stands out with its twinkling lights enticing you in and the fact its in a converted bathroom. You can still see the Men and Women's signs above the doors! On entry, it has a cocktail bar at the bottom and after finding a table for some food we were led up to the awesome roof terrace which lets you look out onto the street below and opposite. The staff were super friendly and helpful. We ordered a beer and glass of wine and then took a look at the menu. Unfortunately, due to its popularity, the Octopus was sold out so we opted for the fermented pork belly, baked cheese with apricot and lamb's heart served with girolles and Scottish beans. 3 dishes to share was just right for us and the staff were so helpful when it came to the gluten-free question. They even had gluten-free bread on offer and all the dishes were gluten-free with bread removed. The food is fresh and seasonal and we spent a bit of time talking to one of the staff about the menu and dishes which change dependent on season and what the suppliers have. I love this as it means you rarely get the same dish twice and you end up with something really special. Highly recommend Brooksby's Walk for delicious food, excellent staff and to top it off its really good value for food of such high quality.

Because it's housed in an old factory the bar always feels empty and more like a local community club rather than a warm and welcoming drinking spot. That being said, they have a good range of beers and wines and a Monday to Friday happy hour where you can get a glass of wine for £2. We had hamburgers which were cooked exactly how we like them (medium rare) and they do good group menus, so it is a good place to go to if you want a cheap party.

It is in the middle of nowhere, I would have never found it if it wasn't for the theatre! The place is quite big, with different seating levels and looking comfy, all wood walls and sofas scattered all over the place. It was almost empty when we arrived, so I didn't have any problems to find a table. The staff was friendly and helpful. I only ordered some coffees and cakes to share but I saw them bringing food to the tables and it looked really good. So now that I know where it is I'll probably go back to try their food. Seems cool for a Sunday roast or a quite evening!

It's quaint and charming inside with extremely welcoming staff. We went all out and had the pate and bone marrow for our first course and they were rich and delicious. We opted to split the turkey and bacon pie which is my ideal British food and it was savory and comforting on a chilly damp winter eve. I like the large ceilings and the relaxed atmosphere of this traditional looking place. It looks out onto the street corner too, so its nice to look out at the people and cars. At that time the pub operated the policy of up to 10 people per gathering. We complied but also wanted to agree where the line of separation would be, as some people wanted to continue their chats. The Manager talked me over and subsequently became hysterical when I asked her to address me in a more polite manner. When I suggested we finish the rather pointless at that stage conversation, she then turned to one of my guests and continued her tirade. Following that, she refused to serve another pint to that guest (a friendly man in his late 60's) as a form of punishment perhaps... She immediately ran away never to appear again when I took this photo in my silent and peaceful state of helplessness. Needless to say, this situation has impacted the atmosphere... I suggest more self-control and kindness and perhaps some level of adherence to the venue's dress-code, especially on Sunday.

As a concept, the BeerKat descends upon a disused pub in London to curate a pop-up experience…read more Partnered with some of the country's best craft breweries, street food vendors and live music acts, they promise that when you see their branding, you know it's going to be good. They have currently overtaken the former location of Phibbers Pub in Holloway and throughout May and June 2016, they partnered with London's darling brewery, Beavertown, to bring 18 beers in tap to thirsty patrons. Across three levels, the Holloway venue is a maze of bars and seats and decked out by BeerKat and (currently) Beavertown's artistic guru and chief designer, Nick Dwyer, who has jazzed the place up with branding, pinball machines, murals and a plethora of photo ops. The brewery's familiar iconography of skeletons, lasers and space scenes is found across all levels of the pub and every week promised new surprises, ranging from special limited edition beers and guest bottles in the fridge, week-long residencies of street food stalwarts and a great live music/event line-up. Events this month included: a Q&A session with Logan Plant, founder or Beavertown, and their head brewer, Jenn Merrick; a special single keg of a limited release Bloody Nortorious blood orange DIPA; and the Graveltones are lined up to play a set on the closing night this weekend. When we visited, Grill my Cheese was proffering some gooey toasties and live music was provided by Bikini Beach Band (perhaps the most esoteric thing I've ever seen). Hangover Sundays include offerings of Monster Munch, screenings of classic cinematic favourites and Bloody Marys liberally poured. And the place has been attracting a heaving crowd- especially when they catch a whiff of a special beer on keg or cask- this weekend, one such offering lasted a tidy four hours. It's proved surprisingly popular with beer drinkers and the quirky venue is a perfect host for large crowds to mill about it. There are two bars and beers can be purchased in halves or full pints- but, especially in the case of Beavertown, there's nothing cheap and some of the beer seriously packs an ABV. While the Beavertown residency has proved very successful and popular, BeerKat have already announced a follow-up two week stint with Siren, another accomplished UK brewery with an expansive range of different styles of beer. Expect more live music, more street food and some special surprises- after this, rumour has it that a few more UK breweries have been approached for a similar showcase of their beers. The Holloway location might be occupied for some months to come, if this is the case. But that's no excuse to miss it.

Beavertown were mentioned in previous reviews. They were followed by the awesome folks from Siren Brewery and right now, for the next couple of days at least, 3 Bristol Breweries Moor, Wiper & True and Bristol Beer Factory are peddling their delicious wares. This weekend will be my 3rd visit to correspond with the 3rd takeover. Its such an awesome concept - I just want it to go on forever! But it won't. I hear it is just for the summer. I am not sure what will happen then. Maybe the thought of hoards of Arsenal fans falling foul of a deceptively delicious double IPA is on their minds. I cannot say. Enjoy the beer while you can! And the food - the cheese toasties were nom nom nom. So why only four stars? Well, some of the keg pints have been upwards of 7 pounds. I am kinda fine with that price if the beer is super strong or has had to cross multiple international borders to be here with us. But a 6 or 7% strong IPA from a couple of miles down the road should never cost that much. That feels a little like we are being taken advantage of...which is why I only had the one pint. Pricing gripes aside I love love love it.
