I moved to Leytonstone in March of last year. Initially I didn't know of any good bars in the area, until a housemate recommended this!
We began going to this bar every weekend. Either for a night out, or a laid back 'hangover cure' Sunday.
The food has always impressed, except on New Years Day when they had a multitude of disasters, which I can only sympathise with, being an ex-waitress myself, these things happen.
I met my boyfriend here, we had our first date here too. Wonderful.
However my reasoning for such a low rating is because, much to my disappointment, the pub has turned into a crèche during the day. Possibly being a victim of their own success in a way. Which is admirable.
Yet my partner and I find it difficult to return and spend our hard earned money there of an afternoon, simply because we would have to deal with prams, screaming kids, and the Mummy Mafia. Not that I have anything against children but is the place for them really in a locale where people are consuming alcohol?
If parents must bring their children to the pub for a nice lunch, maybe consideration for other patrons would be handy. Reigning the children in a bit. Now that at the moment it is intrusive to adults who are on their own, with friends or partners.
Lastly the service is OK but one of the waitresses, she seems to be like the Queen of the waitresses, is more preoccupied with her own image than the customers around her. Her arrogance reflects in her shabby customer service.
Hopefully these things improve but with the Summer coming, I doubt it. A silver lining would be that waitress not being there on our return. :) read more
