I just love the City of Solvang!…read more Solvang is located about 6 hours from Sacramento, but we made a whole day out of the road trip by making stops in San Luis Obispo as well as Pismo Beach on the way down! I had been wanting to visit for years and my family and I finally found the time to visit last month! We stayed for 2 days and it was perfect! Solvang is such a cute Danish town that has so much to offer! From bakeries, to museums, to restaurants to even a year round Christmas shop! My family and I really loved walking around town and checking out as many businesses as we could. I loved all of the windmills and the architecture of the buildings! I also really appreciate the access to their public restrooms - there was at least one on every corner! As well as trash cans, which to me shows that the City of Solvang cares about their visitors! I have been to other cities that don't offer public restrooms and restaurants are the only places to find them. Overall, if you're looking for a unique and fun place to visit, I highly suggest checking out Solvang!

Our daughter still has her little Danish dress and matching clogs we bought years ago. The cute cuckoo clock the kids bought me from The Pebble People on a Mother's Day weekend over 10 years ago still hangs in my kitchen. Although it has increasingly become tourist-centric, giving way to several souvenir stores, this sweet little town has maintained its overall charm. We generally avoid the kitschy, knick-knack gift shops. We find ourselves easily spending 3-4 relaxing hours here with dining plans, snacking, exploring and shopping. It's still a beautiful drive from SCV with interesting places to check-out along the way. The Ostrich farm is a fun stop. Solvang gets overcrowded during the holiday season, especially on weekends. Parking is free everywhere but quite challenging during peak times. This last visit was on a Wednesday -- it was pleasantly quiet with plenty of parking. No crowds. Restaurants and bakeries are open, but some shops were closed. Additionally, a few stores will shut down for lunch. The Farmer's Market was a nice surprise. Given that we no longer have small children, we found the weekday experience much more enjoyable.

Viogner is their speciality, if you're a wine enthusiast. We enjoyed the following: Signature Flight - 5/5. $30 - A tasting consisting of 2 white and 3 red wines. Adobe Flight - 5/5. $30 - Similar to the signature flight, but focused on oak barrels rather than steel. Charcuterie Board - 5/5. $28 - Everything we dreamed of. More bread would've been great though. French Plate - 5/5. $8 - 3 savory and sweet tarts. Service was laid back and staff members were kind. We ended up signing up for their wine membership, which goes to show how much we loved this spot!

In the heart of beautiful Solvang, the winery has picturesque grounds that are nothing short of breathtaking. The views of rolling vineyards especially during sunset provide the perfect backdrop for a relaxing day out. Whether you're sipping wine inside or strolling through the grounds, the scenery alone makes this place worth a visit. Speaking of wine, the selection here is top-notch. We tried the Signature tastings and ended up leaving with 3 bottles. Every glass was a delight and Scherina was so kind and knowledgeable. The wine is clearly crafted with care, and the staff is more than happy to help you find the perfect pairing to suit your tastes. But what really took this experience to the next level was the food! The lobster roll was out of this world, fresh, flavorful, and packed with lobster that had just the right amount of seasoning. If you're in the mood for something a bit more casual, the smash burger is a must-try. It's juicy, perfectly cooked, and served with a side and a side of chips. It went well with a red blend. The live music added to the overall vibe, creating a laid-back and fun atmosphere. It felt like the perfect soundtrack for an afternoon of good wine, great food, and fantastic company. All in all, Rideau Winery is a must-visit destination for anyone who enjoys great wine, delicious food, and an unforgettable atmosphere. Whether you're a seasoned wine connoisseur or just looking for a relaxing place to spend the day, you won't be disappointed. I can't wait to come back!

The ambiance outside was gorgeous. Here's what we ordered: Cesar Salad - good just ask for the dressing on the side as it was overdressed. Mozzarella sticks - didn't have the cheese pull I was expecting, I did appreciate that it wasn't as salty as most places, however, it was more breaded than cheese. Penne with sausage and fungi - good! To be honest it was even better tasting as leftovers, as the flavor was soaked in by the pasta. Sole fish with lemon sauce - came with pasta, my husband said it was exactly, if not more, what he wanted! He would order this again. Bread - free for first serving, charge after. It was definitely a bit on the harder side. Overall, everything was pretty okay. It wasn't memorable or bursting with flavor. It was simple and clean and that can definitely be what someone is looking for in Italian food!

The location is surprisingly brilliant: parking is plentiful, an ATM is conveniently nearby, and the moment you step through the door, any skepticism about strip-mall dining evaporates instantly. The staff welcomes you not like customers, but like family returning home for Sunday supper -- warm, genuine, and utterly disarming. And then comes the food: fresh, beautifully prepared, and authentically Italian in a way that's increasingly rare to find. My dietary needs are a bit off the mark- however there was not a bit of hesitation to tweak my meal. Don't let the address fool you. The best things in life are often hiding in plain sight. It should be at the top of everyone's list for pasta and pizza.
