Soltane offers excellent, but expensive, coffee and tea beverages and delicious bread and baked goods. I recommended going elsewhere, however. If you insist on going to Soltane, I recommend making purchases "to go", as the experience for customers wishing to enjoy a beverage, dessert or meal in Soltane is diminished significantly by the obnoxious, loud, tall man who regularly works at the counter. He NEVER stops talking! As such, I much prefer to meet a friend for a cup of tea/coffee and conversation at Artisan's Gallery & Cafe or Starbucks, both of which are nearby. Note for Health-Conscious Customers: Soltane offers only whole milk, not nonfat milk, which is utterly ridiculous with the current obesity epidemic. read more

A friend introduced me to this spot and I absolutely loved it! Fresh baked bread and croissants, delicious coffee and teas, all served by smiling and friendly staff! The shop is well maintained and clean. The atmosphere is casual and seating options are limited so I imagine most folks take theirs to go. We were lucky to get seats which was probably due to arriving near closing time. I had the pour over Rwandan coffee which had a wonderful smooth flavor. I was advised to try the croissants and am very glad I did. The spinach and feta cheese one was nice and savory, but the king was the chocolate filled croissant. My oh my it was dang delicious! The chocolate was rich and deep in flavor while the croissant itself was well balanced with flaky buttery goodness outside and soft chewy bursting with chocolate inside. Definitely on my list of favorite eats. The owner was nice enough to let me try a loaf of sourdough which I snacked on during the ride home. If you are a fan of sourdough bread then you will love theirs. Nice hard crust, moist and delicious inside with that slightly sour taste you either love or hate. Very nice to see a locally owned shop do well and have the support of its community. They use organic ingredients which I believe are all purchased from the local farms and CSAs too. The only reason to not give them the extra star is that they so often are out of what I like best. Obviously lots of other people like them, too. Quiche is always very good, and scones, if they have any left, are excellent Don't miss the owl or scottie cookies - perfect to take home for a treat. Ryan (manager) is a happy go lucky - always smiling, having a great time, enjoys his job, creates a wonderfully relaxed and inviting atmosphere type of guy. The breads and few pastries are wonderful! Fresh, fresh milled grains, hearth baking = stellar product. I have been patroning this wonderful shop since its opening and recently partook in their quiet 1 year anniversary celebration and berry shortcake celebratory creation (Delicious!). Having a coffee and sliced bread with spread is simple and satisfying. The simplicity is nothing short of good wholesome, integral food. They have a few items for sale - the breads of course and some of their 'famous' spreads. The berry blues are my number one favorite. This place supports the Camphill Village (they are an international organization) that assists mentally challenged individuals of all ages. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual and a place to sit and relax - its a brighter environment and different vibe when you have a coffee in! I have spent many hours and several coffees and slices getting work done in this refreshing atmosphere. Doing a few things exceptionally well is the name of this game - and Soltane plays it well. Great coffee, breads and spreads. Two birds , 1 stone - supporting the local shop and the Camphill Village - something to feel good about. My only gripe is their limited hours and days of operation. Manning the hearth fire is quite an intensive process so understandable the hours be limited - but with coffee and breads this good - IF only they were open daily - or open earlier and/or later on their days of operation. I visited Soltane a few times while staying near Phoenixville for work. The iced coffee, lemonade, and quiche were great though baked goods are also available. The music, seating arrangement, and interior design all blend together for a fine and enjoyable atmosphere. On weekend mornings the place gets fairly busy, and understandably so. Great barista, and the most wonderful fire-baked bread and pastries! It smells like a campfire when you walk into the place. My favorites are the scones (ginger, if they aren't sold out) and ANY of the breads. The cookies are to die for! I do wish it was a bit larger, as the music and commotion and get a bit noisy. I also wish I could stop in on my way to work! They only open at 8:00 a.m., so they miss out on the business from those of us who start work at 8:00 a.m.. There is a lot of traffic that goes by the store in the morning, so maybe they'll reconsider in the future?? For now, that well-known chain coffee shop has to get my morning business. :-( read more

This neighborhood gem is one of the shining businesses in downtown Phoenixville. Every time you enter this café you are greeted with a warm smile from the staff and enticing aromas from the freshly made baked goods. The croissants and baked goods are absolutely to die for, and I have a hard time staying focused on my diet when I come here. Aside from the delicious food and wonderful coffee, their mission is what sets them apart from other coffee shops in town.
