I rarely leave reviews, but my experience with Venture NY Property Management has been deeply…read morefrustrating. I simply asked for clarification regarding newly imposed co-op insurance requirements and how the coverage thresholds were determined. Rather than receiving transparent answers or supporting documentation, I was repeatedly told the requirements were "non-negotiable," threatened with fines, and ultimately informed that management would "not engage further" because the conversation had become "repetitive." As a shareholder, asking reasonable questions about building policies, insurance requirements, and risk management should not be treated as an inconvenience. At no point was any actual explanation provided regarding whether these limits were based on insurer recommendations, legal counsel, lender requirements, claims history, or any formal analysis. Instead, responses felt dismissive, defensive, and unnecessarily combative. Professional property management should include transparency, accountability, and respectful communication with residents -- especially when imposing financial requirements and penalties. I hope ownership takes shareholder concerns more seriously moving forward and improves how management communicates with residents.

I want to take a second and say that I had been looking at apartments for 10 weeks. I had seen…read moreevery 1 bedroom and studio in Astoria, Forest Hills, Kew Gardens and LIC. I was meeting with brokers off of craigslist, yelp reviews and other realty websites. I found a considerable difference in the apartments they were showing me and the ones they had listed. Everyone had something that was just a bit off. Maybe it was smelly, maybe it was very small, electric heat etc. I also decided to get a roommate to help save money on rent. Everything was crazy UNTIL I MET CHRIS! I realize that when you look at a place with a broker there a few givens everyone lets slide. I can be forgiving about your punctuality, I'm cool with asking a lot of questions about how I live (pets, job etc.) before I see the place - I am even cool with you asking about my credit score. However - there are a few real estate sins I NEVER EXPERIENCED WITH CHRIS. 1.) Chris never made me feel guilty about which socio-economic class I'm from. We all know that rent is higher than ever in Astoria and it hurts. You're looking at a one bedroom conservatively around 1800. Chris showed me apartments that were nice, well kept in a building not a basement and even offered two options. Never did Chris say "This is what you get for your money here *eyeroll- pressure - pressure" When I found the listing for the reality company online through shmeet shmezy* Chris was very easy to talk with on the phone and via text. Chris never made me feel uncomfortable about my credit score or my income. He just helped us 2.) Sometimes before you see an apartment and get to the address you've been researching the broker will make you go across town, sign a form and fill out your bs before even seeing a place. This is a stupid and wasteful activity. Chris does not do this. Chris brought us right up to see the apartments in question. 3.) Chris never applied pressure. There are so many broker and only so many apartments. It makes sense that people feel the pressure because they want the turn over. Thats fine. However, one broker was texting me up to a week after I had already given him the Hell no. Chris was very relaxed and easy going and made the process very comfortable. Bottom Line - Chris from Alma Realty was one of the nicest and most professional brokers I have ever worked with. I can't wait to move into my new apartment and enjoy living back in Astoria. Good luck and I hope you find this review useful in your search for an apartment!

Terrible experience with this company. They listed an apartment for 2500. After applying it took…read morethem a week to respond. The realtor came back and said they approved me but now wanted 2950 because they were adding a washer/dryer. I refused as I might as well pay for a delivery service for 10% of the cost. 1 week later they come back saying they changed their mind and were now offering for 2600 With no washer/dryer. I eventually caved because I liked the neighborhood (Apt was a bit rundown but I was willing to suck it up). Then the realtor says they approved me for the second floor apartment that is identical to the one I saw instead. I asked when I could view and they said the tenant refused. But the realtor said mgmt was amazing and you can trust them. My spidey sense was going off full alarm bells. No way am I signing with no viewing with these folks. Now reading the reviews I'm so glad I ran! I will watch out for Alma Realty at all costs.

Working with him and the landlord was a solid, positive experience. The whole process went quickly and smoothly. They work with many types of landlords who have their own way of doing things. Finding parity between landlord and potential tenant can be tricky. This was well managed and we had a seamless experience. As my fiancé was going through cancer treatments, her/our living requirements and situation changed dramatically. We needed a safe, accessible, clean, modern apartment that would facilitate her recovery. The list of needs were rather imposing. Astor still found us the place that met our needs. I base my review on how Astor Realty via Nicholas conducted business. It was friendly, professional, and produced a highly agreeable result. Thanks again! He doesn't have floor covering, which the management has failed to enforce, and he plays his TV at night above my bedroom after 10 PM. You would think they would have done something about it after more than 50 emails I sent to them. At least impose the monetary fees we all signed up for in our Building Rules. But no, not First Management and their utmost incompetent management. If they do not do anything about it either way, at least they will get my review. At this point, my only options are either they go bankrupt or I sell my property to recover some of my peace of mind. They are so deficient that my money is on the former. Besides that, the whole condition of the building is pitiful. The more than a year with no laundry room. If you're a tenant in one of their buildings, I highly recommend documenting the condition of the apartment when you move in (missing screens in windows, small chips or scrapes, etc.). Otherwise, they will make every effort to keep your security deposit.
