There was only one other person in class, so I got plenty of individual attention and coaching. She definitely made sure I was working hard, and I left feeling like I got an amazing workout in just 30 minutes. Challenging, efficient, and totally worth it. Extremely disappointed with my experience at Solidcore Navy Yard during the 5/9 1:30 PM class. My guest and I traveled 40 minutes, used a buddy pass, and selected our spots ahead of time, only for a waitlisted participant who was Savannah's mother to still take a spot while staff knowingly allowed it. We were unable to properly work out, and no effort was made by Savannah to address the situation or even check in with us afterward. The lack of professionalism, accountability, and customer care completely ruined the experience for me. I personally would never recommend booking with Savannah after how poorly this situation was handled. I advise you to stay away from booking her class if you want to enjoy your experience! read more

I went to a class with a friend 01/2025, proceeded to sign up for a 2 week unlimited classes for $99 special they had going - of the deals I've seen year round, that seems to be the best one - and 11 months later, I'm still going! I hadn't been going to a gym regularly in 7-8 years and that motivation brick wall was sky high. But after two weeks, I was hooked. I signed up for 8 classes a month using the healthcare worker discount. 8 months later, I decided to go unlimited classes because the 25% healthcare worker discount finally applied to that option too. The coaches are motivating and happy to see me when I come in. Navy Yard is one of only a handful that has 2 studios so there's that many more class options. I'm at 148 classes and every class is still challenging. I'm actually seeing a difference in my body and muscles which motivates me that much more. There's lockers, toiletries, hair dryers, and bathrooms. The app is easy to use. Because of where I live now, I go to a lot of different studios but Navy Yard will always be my favorite and original home studio. read more

I have tried reformed pilates in the past and decided my back was in need of it again. The last time I did reformed pilates was about four years ago so solidcore was quite the challenge. My first class was with Chelsea and she was so great at correcting my form and giving me direction- I really appreciated all her tips and she made such a pleasant introduction to solidcore for me. The slow movements and body strength training left me sore, but wanting more. My lower back pain was relieved significantly after my first class and I decided to continue for the month. In the past 2 weeks, I have taken 6 classes, all targeting different parts of my body and making me question how strong I really was before, haha. I have taken the most classes with April C. and really love her coaching style. Today I went to a class taught by Izzie O. and she was fantastic. My abs and arms were really burning throughout the session and I could feel the soreness kicking in throughout the day. Now that I'm officially part of the 50 club, that means I'm halfway to the 100 club (meaning I've taken 100 classes). When I first started, I only took 1 beginner's class a week for about a month. Then I gradually moved on to regular [non-beginner] classes, then twice a week, three times a week, and now four times a week. I NEVER thought I would get to this point, as the idea of Solidcore always scared me. These classes are tough, as to be expected. And as soon as it starts to get comfortable and you start to get confident then it's time for you to push harder and challenge yourself. I've pushed myself beyond what I ever could have thought before starting these classes and, I'm not gonna lie, it sometimes makes me emotional to see how strong I've become. It's also pretty encouraging and humbling to see people who are more physically fit than me struggle just as much during certain parts of the workout. Everyone is in it together and the coaches encourage you to speak to your neighbors and high five each other after the workout. The instructors are all knowledgeable and I enjoy most of their classes, however, my personal preference is for Martha, Rose, and Jen's classes. Martha and Jen have the best playlists (mostly hip hop) and Rose is super high energy. I only go to their classes. All 3 are encouraging and will step in to correct your form or give you a helping hand if you are struggling. Prices are as expensive as other gyms in the area but it's honestly cheapest to get the unlimited plan for about $250 a month. read more

So far I've taken 6 classes at this location: 3 with Anna, 2 with Nefertiti and 1 with Rose. By far my favorite classes have been with Anna who gives clear direction, demonstrates specific moves at the beginning of class and is encouraging without being overbearing. She also provides appropriate modifications to reduce strain on joints and suggestions to further challenge yourself. I noticed that after coming to 1 class a week for 5 straight weeks, I found myself taking less breaks during the most recent class. Also since my core isn't as weak after some consistency in attendance, it's been helpful when I'm weight training and doing cardio. Haven't been to Solidcore since we moved from Arlington to DC. Tried out the new Navy Yard studio today and was not disappointed. The studio was clean and the blue uplighting was pretty cool. Ample storage at the front to store shoes and jackets. Rose Shine was an awesome instructor and put us through a tough workout. She took time to ask about injuries and give cues/modifications throughout. This studio has a great special going on: 10 classes for $250. If you're brand new, in January, get 2 classes for $29! Holy guacamole. I'm pretty sure my entire body is going to be sore for days. I tried a beginner class for my first class, which is definitely the right move. Martha was really nice. She did a great job explaining the equipment (you really need a full explanation!) and demonstrating a few moves before the class started (which was super helpful!) Honestly, as tough as the class is (IT'S LIKE REALLY FREAKING HARD GUYS), the time totally flew by. It's definitely on the more expensive side (but it is on ClassPass!), but they do have a few deals. I tried out a class here and LOVED IT. My whole body is shaking and sore but that's the goal. Symantha was the instructor and she was great. She explained the machine and the moves very well and was extremely upbeat, enthusiastic and encouraging throughout the class. Solidcore is by far the most challenging class I've ever done where I've sweat the least. The class consists of normal workout moves like squats, push ups and lunges but they are on a machine where you can adjust the resistance and the moves are very controlled so when you are there and when you leave out you know you got a work out in. As far as the studio, it's much smaller than I imagined. There is a code you are given to get in the studio and the "lobby" is small. Since the class only holds like 15 ppl much space isn't needed like a regular gym but don't come to class expecting to shower afterwards because there are no showers but maybe that's bc you don't sweat like a regular cardio class. The bathrooms are huge- you can change and freshen up with the amenities provided so that's helpful. Just know that when you're leaving class and someone else is coming in you may have a hard time getting your stuff just bc of congestion but it's definitely worth the workout read more

Solidcore is by far the most challenging boutique fitness workout I've done, and I've done them all: Barry's, FLYWHEEL, SOULCYCLE, Orange Theory, Barre3, Reformer pilates, etc. Even I am surprised by the results I've seen from going about eight times in the span of a month. The new Navy Yard location is just as good as the others, and it's by several cute fast casual restaurants. The coaches, especially Jen and Haley, are extremely motivating and take time to demonstrate the moves while they are circulating. In short, [solidcore] is extreme pilates on a resistance machine called Sweatlana. The major difference I find between this workout and reformer pilates is that the resistance is much heavier, muscles are worked to fatigue, and the ab work is about 50% of class. [Solidcore] is so challenging that I don't need music to keep me going, like I do in a spin class, but still the playlists are hot - lots of hiphop and club type songs. But truly, I'm so focused on my forms and staying in the holds. And, just when you feel like you are going to die, class is done. The coaching style is built around slow and steady movements with mental momentum. The coaches have many narration tricks to make the time by, so 50 min goes by fast! All in all, I feel so strong and like a total badass when I finish a solidcore workout and what's better than that! read more

I've tried [solidcore] in Philly and it was nothing like my workout experience in DC at the Navy Yard Solidcore. Of course your first few workouts are going to be confusing (AND HARD), because the workout is SO unique and will push you to a different level. Upon arriving to my first class at the Navy Yard location, the instructor gave me a full run-down of the equipment, how to use it, what to expect, and even showed me how to do certain exercises on the machine. The class is CHALLENGING. Talk about "shakes"! I am a regular exerciser (training with weights & sometimes cardio), but the exercises in solidcore really leave me feeling limp and sore the following days. Not only is the workout a perfect addition to my current workout plan, the community at this location is so warm and welcoming. I love that the instructors encourage meeting your neighbor (on the machine) and that the instructors are just so friendly and energizing. I will definitely continue to come here since I know I'm going to leave feeling so accomplished (and I KNOW my body will thank me later for it too)! read more

Solidcore is essentially "pilates on crack." I wish I could take credit for that description, but alas a good friend of mine was the one who shared that with me. However, as shared by this friend, Solidcore is essentially pilates on crack. So what does that mean? Well, if you're into tough workouts that give you that strong sense of accomplishment after you worked your abs/thighs/arms/glutes off for 50 minutes, then you'll agree with us about how addicting this workout is. (Note: I'm a Solidcore junkie and on my way to 100.) Also, there's a great sense of community that Solidcore studios set up. While you're sweating and working hard like crazy, you're reminded that you're also sharing that struggle with your neighbor. There's also a lot of motivational slogans all over the studios. Phrases like "you're stronger today than yesterday" or words like "motivated" etc. are all over the place. Another example of how the Solidcore community tries to build you up and remind you of your worth. For all the first-timers out there, the idea of working out your abs for 50 minutes may be intimidating, but the coaches are there to walk you through it and help adjust the workout to meet your level... but also push you to challenge your limits. Special shoutout to coach Rose Shine who has an awesome playlist and takes time to show proper technique. Special notes on the Navy Yard studio: It's a little narrower than other locations, i.e. if you're a tall dude, it'll be tough to do a decline/incline pushup, but the coaches tell you how to adjust. Also, there aren't any lockers with locks to tuck away your items. I never had a problem with theft at Navy Yard or at any other studio locations, since you need a code to enter the studio. From the get-go everyone has been extremely supportive in mastering form and pushing it to the limit to get stronger with every single class. I joined solidcore about 3 months ago. I have really enjoyed it and think its an amazing workout. You can really get a good burn in for the amount of time you're working out. Also, the instructors are amazing and so fun! I gave this studio/company 3 stars because I realize now that they are solely focused on making money. I know that some gyms do this, but solidcore requires that you give them a 30 days notice before canceling. This means that you have to pay for an additional month after canceling. Solidcore is on the higher end for price for a pilates studio that does not have showers, other amenities, or traditionally trained pilates instructors...(instructors are more motivational than technique focused trainers). With constant changes in staff, only a handful of instructors are worth the amount of money paid for sessions. Also, equinox (fancy gym) is the same price but has so many amazing amenities that solid core lacks (to give some perspective). Tried to get the cancellation period waived, but no luck or understanding from corporate, of course. Should have read the fine print on the contract, I suppose. Again, I really love solidcore, but this left a bad taste in my mouth about the company itself. Solidcore is really fun if you want a trendy and young experience. I know I sound bitter (which I am), but this is the truth. For being so community focused and for someone who would go everyday...I feel used. Lesson learned. A friend brought me to my first class, and that was enough to get me hooked. Now my wife and I do this almost every Sunday and it hurts so good. You might feel like the plank or lunge segments will never, ever end--but it takes a few classes to learn the routines and figure out when to take it slow or push to the finish. Both of us have definitely felt the results after just a few weeks of consistent classes. The Navy Yard location is a bit smaller/narrower than others but the instructors are great. I also appreciate the water bottle station and the bathroom amenities. We have no problems finding parking on a Sunday morning. read more

There are an endless number of exercises you can do on their machines and you can always modify over time to make it harder so that you don't plateau. I am disappointed and am not going back to Solidcore. First, I was overcharged for a class & this has left a bad taste in my mouth (like a scam). Moreover, halfway through the class, I kept thinking this is a waste of my time. The instructor would help me at certain points, but majority of the time I was looking at the other clients for direction (which would've been fine) if all of them were on the same accord. Literally, everyone was doing something else, there wasn't proper direction. In my opinion it was like a three ring circus. I have attended two Beginner classes with Haley as the instructor. She is wonderful! Haley makes sure to know each participant's name and illustrates proper form on the Megaformer before class. Solidcore needs better instructors and better customer service. The instructor (Rose) barely showed us how to do each move. As a first timer, I had to look to other students for proper form, and each student was doing a slightly different version of each move. Not a good way to learn proper technique. After class, she was super friendly and chatty and sold me a package. When I didn't use the package for a couple of months because of a running injury, it expired. When I called her to ask her to make the package valid again, she was not the friendly and chatty person she was when she was trying to sell it. She gave me such a hard time, she made me feel like it was such an imposition, and asked me to prove my injury. A similar situation happened with Soulcycle, yet they never made me jump through hoops to use a package I already paid for! Terrible teachers and terrible customer service. And apparently it comes from the top down. The Solidcore teachers have said the CEO is a terrible person. read more

This Solid Core is a great addition to the Navy Yard which seems to be lacking in terms of work out options. The workout is no joke, and will leave your muscles trembling! Staff is super friendly and they are offering some specials and beginner classes which I highly recommend taking if you've never taken a class before. The classes can move quickly and I do feel like you have to go at least 2x/week to get into a good rhythm. That said, I took a star away because this place is crazzzy expensive! I had never done any sort of machine based activities outside of a gym and the Beginner class with Martha was a fantastic place to start. She gave an in-depth review 15 minutes before class (they're not kidding when they request new participants arrive 15 minutes early...that's when and how you learn to use the equipment!) and was energetic and happy to help while instructing. This workout was a great mix of strength training and low intensity cardio; you will definitely feel this the next day! I grew up running, but my knees can no longer handle the wear and tear on my body. I was looking for something that would give me a good work out but also avoid the knee pain. My friends invited me to join them for a Solidcore class. In all honesty that first class kicked my butt and made me realize I had muscles in areas I did not know there were muscles, but my knees did not hurt. As I have attended more classes, my muscles are getting stronger and my knees still don't hurt. I am learning more than I expected in class - including to believe in my own strength, trust my body, and most importantly my mind will give before my body does and that's just in the 8 weeks i have been attending class in Navy Yard. Solidcore is my go-to strength workout, and this studio is a great addition to this vibrant neighborhood. The studio manager, Loren, is warm and excellent at tailoring the workout to newbies and experienced Solidcore clients as well. I have worked out with Solidcore through several physical set-backs and have found the workouts to be among the most challenging in DC, but also the most beneficial. The instructors are welcoming and encouraging, and Navy Yard is no exception. This location has more separation from the storage locker/bathroom area to the workout space, which affords a nice degree of privacy at this street-level location. read more

I recently discovered Solidcore at the end of 2017. I became a [fan] of the workout. Based upon my work/personal schedule, I frequent Navy Yard. Anna H is [awesome] on Sundays. It has quickly become my go to class to get a [solid] workout in each week. The studio is clean. Classes start promptly. The beginner's classes are very helpful if you are new to the style of workout or if you have not been working out (HIIT, TRX, or endurance/resistance). The results for me have been great- I have toned up quite a bit. Only reason that I do not give 5 stars is parking. The location is next to a hotel and in a developing area. Often times, parking can be a challenging in the cold. If you're driving, give yourself time to walk from the parking to still be early for class :) read more

Having just moved to D.C. from Boston, where I really enjoyed doing megaformer to add diversity to my workout routine, I was keen to see if Solidcore lived up to the hype. It does! The class was as intense as they come and the instructor was friendly and easy to follow. The facility is clean and sleekly designed. This venue is also right next door to some yummy lunch places to refuel afterwards ;p I knock off one point because unfortunately Solidcore is very expensive (at least in D.C.) compared to comparable classes in Boston. I imagine it's an inevitable consequence of rent location etc, but it'd be nice if, for that price, there were a proper changing room. read more

The newest DC location in Navy Yard is amazing! If you haven't tried this workout- it's a must! Low impact, major results. (see my review of the Shaw location for info on the workout- love it!). The Navy Yard studio has a lot of machines which makes it easier to snag a spot in class. The machines are also brand new and have thicker straps and easier to grab springs. The studio space is also super clean and has some nice touches (like enormous and well-lit restrooms, cute little plants everywhere, fancy lighting). The studio is a really quick walk from the metro (less than a block) and it's easy to find street parking within a block or two. The rest of the block is really great too with new fast casual restaurants for a post-workout snack. read more

Today was my first workout at Solidcore, and let me just say that it kicked my butt! The workout hurt so good, but was really fun at the same time, and it actually went by extremely quick! I never realized how weak my core is until now, and my entire body is sore. I took the beginner class, which I recommend for first timers so you get an overview of the machine beforehand- that really helped! What an amazing workout!! I tried the beginner class for the first time which is still very challenging (in a good way) even after trying two of their "normal" classes. Martha was an amazing instructor who remembers everyone's name in the class and is very encouraging throughout the entire 45 mins!!
